I have posted two questions for OOTP Technical Support regarding my Reserve Roster and my Aging Problems with my IPA.
I will give them a few days to answer them before I play any more games. I'm at July 1st in the 2089 season. |

Friday, July 1, 2089 IPA BEST OF THE BEST ALL-STARS ACCLAIMED FOR 89TH ALL-STAR CLASSIC AT BELLE PLAINE How would you like to manage a team with more star players than you can play? It wouldn't be an easy chore. That's the dilemma facing the two managers at the annual Islandian Pro Alliance All-Star classic -- how to get all the talented All-Stars in the game. But it's a joy for the fans -- to see all their favorite stars on one field at the same time. Belle Plaine's manager Eliot Marcum will handle the RU All-Stars, while Summerland's Jayson Hallstrom will be in charge of the TU All-Stars. Gavin Foxton of Colfax was elected an All-Star for the 6th time in his career. Chuck Chelkowski of Bay St. Clair, Calvin Mannon of Hartsdale and Yank Yankovich of South Fork made the All-Star squad for the 5th time. Chosen for the 4th time were Reggie Davis of Wynnamac, Julius Goodson of Wynnamac, Jean-Paul Lacombe of Belle Plaine, Lucien Legrand of Fairfax and Davy Mannington of South Fork. Claxton, Forest City and Summerland had the most honorees, 5 apiece. South Folk had 4 All-Stars. There was an abundance of rookies. The Ruthlandian Union have 8 freshmen selected and the Tycobbian Union have 6. The 89th Islandian Pro Alliance All-Star Classic will be play Tuesday afternoon, July 12 at Musketeer Field in Belle Plaine. The Tycobbian Union has a gigantic lead in the series. The TU Stars have won 58 times and lost only 32 times. In my attempt to retire aging players and purging the reserve rosters of unproductive players, this has resulted in a great influx of rookies.
Hope this works out well and doesn't disrupt the talent level in the IPA. Rookies are doing quite well this year. |

Posted several threads recently on two other forums and it seems that the talent level on my active rosters are much better than the reserve rosters, therefore aging players still have much better ratings than the reserves, there they continue to stay active.
The solution is for me to manually control the reserve rosters. That's more work than I want to do, but I guess I have no choice. Just played an exciting All-Star Game... will report on it soon... it was a shootout. |

Wednesday, July 13, 2089 Glory Hallelujah, the 89th IPA All-Star Game was a game for the ages. It was a crowd-pleasing seesaw shootout finally won by the Ruthlandian All-Stars 11 to 9 at Musketeer Field in Belle Plaine. Rookie shortstop Howie Dassner (Valmara) tripled in the winning scores in the last of the 8th and was voted the game's Most Valuable Player. The RU Stars cracked 17 hits in the high-scoring clash, sparked by Dassner, Jim Raver (Forest City) and Slug Sasek (Far Mountain) with 2 RBIs apiece. Gavin Foxton (Colfax) chimed in with 3 hits and a pair of ribbies. Tycobbia collected 11 hits in defeat, paced by Norris Chance (Summerland) with 2 hits and 3 runs batted in. The RU Stars won for the third time in four years, but they still trail miserably in the overall series 56-33. It was a fierce battle, beginning to end. Ruthlandia jumped out to a 5-1 lead after 3 frames. However the TU Stars tied it up 5-5 with 4 runs in the 4th, highlighted by Norris Chance's (Summerland) 3-run roundtripper. Not to be outdone, the RU All-Stars regained the lead 7-5 in the 5th on Gavin Foxton's (Colfax) double and a base hit by Jim Raver (Forest City). That l ead did not last long. The TU Stars knotted it up again 7-7 in the 6th on Davy Mannington's (South Fork) single and a sacrifice fly by Banger Barnhlll (Ozarka). Tycobbia continued to roll with 2 more scores in the 7th inning, going ahead 9-7 on Calvin Mannon's (Hartsdale) 2-run two-bagger. Ruthlandia's Slug Sasek lived up to his name and slugged a 2-run shot in the 7th, tying it up again for third time heading into the fatal 8th when Dassner (Valmara) doused the hopes of the TU All-Stars with his game-winning three-bagger, driving in Glen Chatsworth (Marston) and Clete Ward (Forest City) . Three homers were sent soaring out of the park. Yank Yankovich (South Fork) banged one in the 4th and Norris Chance (Summerland) got his in the 4th for the TU Stars. Slug Sasek (Far Mountain) hammered the only homer for the winning RU Stars. Closer Orval Columbus (Belair Beach) nabbed the victory with a perfect 8th frame, while Dario Lemos (Arroyo Grande) was tagged with the defeat. Lemos had a lousy 8th inning, slammed for 2 runs and 3 hits, culminated by Dassner's (Valmara) game-winning double. Last edited by Eugene Church; 06-03-2025 at 01:48 PM. |

Just finiished the 2089 IPA season... only 11 more seasons to get to the glorious 100th season when I will retire the Islandian Pro Alliance and give it to jg2977, a loyal and dedicated follower of the IPA. Jeff is also a good guy and a good friend, too.
Hopefully I can reach the 1 million views-mark in the next year or so, too. I will post a general recap of the 2089 season soon and cover the IPA postseason playoffs. There are three clubs that are finally returning to the playoffs after one or two decades of absence. Valmara, Claxton and Oxford will be in the Pro Cup hunt this year. The Vipers will be seeking their 5th Pro Cup, the Red Sox their 3rd and the Diamonds their 2nd. One of the division champions will be vyng for its very first IPA title. Monday, September 26, 2089 IPA CROWNS 8 DIVISION CHAMPS Not a lot of multi-team pennant races this year in the Islandian Pro Alliance. In the Tycobbian Union Oxford, La Claire and Ozarka had a fairly easy race and they all won by a goodly margin. There was only one real race, that was in the Tycobbian South where Summerland nipped Southport by 2 games. The Sunsets beat the Sun Sox at home in 3 of 4 vital games the last week of the season. The only other tight fight to the finish was in the Ruthlandian West. Forest City and Colfax dueled the entire year with the Firebirds prevailing by 2 games. Three teams made the playoffs for the first time in decades. It's Claxton's first postseason appearance since 2070, Oxford's since 2075 and Valmara's first since 2079. VALMARA PULLS AWAY FROM THE RU NORTH CROWD IN THE SECOND HALF In the preseason poll Valmara was picked to finish way down the list in 5th place, but the Vipers surprised and won the Ruthlandian North by 6 games over last year's champion LaGrange. It was forecast to be a battle between Far Mountain, LaGrange and Ancona. It was real close for half the season, but Valmara edged away in the second half. Superior pitching set the Vipers apart from the rest of the RU North. It will be tough for them in the playoffs. Valmara has trouble scoring runs. DIAMONDS OUTDUEL WESTERNERS FOR RU SOUTH CROWN For the first time in two decades the Claxton Diamonds claimed the Ruthlandian South pennant. The Waleska Westerners went toe-to-toe with them until they faded in the last two months and lost out by 4 games. Defending division champ Belair Beach never was a real factor in the race after June and wound up a distant third place. Claxton was a solid choice in the preseason poll and proved themselves to be a worthy and capable team. The Diamonds had the best pitching in the RU South. Fourth place Crystal Lake started and ended poorly, however they did very well in June and July and were right up their with the leaders, Claxton and Waleska. COTTON KINGS PICKED RU EAST CLEAN, UPSETTING PRO CUP CHAMP MUSKETEERS The current IPA champion Belle Plaine Musketeers were favored to take the Ruthlandian East for the third straight year and get the chance to repeat as the Islandian Pro Alliance's best overall team once again. However, the Eastshore Cotton Kings had other ideas. The cotton-picking Kings were forecast to wind far behind in the fourth spot. Wynnamac topped the standings until August, then swooned badly the last two months. Belair Beach started poorly, but slowly got back into the chase and finished strongly. Eastshore did not have a bad month and held off the second-half challenge by the Sunbirds, who fell 4 games short of the division title. It was a four-team affair heading into September with Belle Plaine, Marston and Wynnamac in the quest. Both the Nine and Sundowners faded in September. Homers and healthy pitching hauled in the Cotton Kings' RU East crown. Eastshore is looking good heading into the IPA postseason playoffs. FIREBIRDS BEST IN THE RU WEST What a great two-team race it was in the Ruthlandian West between champ Forest City and Colfax. It lasted all season long. It all came down to a sizzling September photo finish with the Firebirds finally overtaking the Black Sox and winning by 2 games. The last month was something to behold. Forest City went a red-hot 17-4 down the stretch. Colfax hung tough with a strong 14-7, but it was just not good enough to win. The Firebirds will be one of the Pro Cup favorites come October. Forest City was an overwhelming favorite to take the RU West. No one was expected to rival them in the preseason poll. Only Colfax offered any resistance. The Black Sox were almost as good as the Firebirds. They came real close to beating them. 2089 Ruthlandian Union Final Standings Last edited by Eugene Church; Yesterday at 02:20 PM. |
