Not sure what to group this guy into but baseball historian John Thorn did an article on him and he's been mentioned in the SABR archives before, so I thought he'd be an interesting oddity to attempt to do a FG of since he holds some historical significance I suppose. I try to only do these for "relevant" people in the baseball world, meaning they must either have played at least a college level or have some relevance in SABR's database.

I tried to base this one on the black & white image. Obviously not perfect but still unique if nothing else.

Minor league pitcher for the Hazleton Pugilists of the integrated Middle States League in 1889.

His Baseball Reference tag is whitee001mat but for some reason it gives issues with importing players from this team.

The former college baseball player at Augusta who died saving his friend from the San Bernardino shooting in 2015 honored as a national hero. Baseball Reference does not have a page currently but probably will in the future since their year-by-year college stats are incomplete. The furthest they go back to on there for this particular team is 2016, which was the year they wore helmet decals in his honor as a part of their uniform.

He is mentioned on the BR Bullpen in this article.

Found another player with an old, mottled-looking facegen that I'm surprised AESP didn't update -- William [f/k/a a slur against citizens of the country that is home to the league that must not be named] Barbeau (barbeja01 / barbea001wil).

Thanks for posting this. I only downloaded the pack I have in like January directly from his signature so idk why something so old would be in there but that's what came up when I searched Wright's ID in it. I downloaded the update though.

Maybe Lans didn't put it in the pack... sometimes he doesn't put his old works if he doesn't find it on par with the his more recent works. That would make sense since he said that he will redo him this weekend in a previous post.

Your response confuses me on so many levels given that he posted that response after I said that and that we can all agree that the second face you showed that wasn't in this particular pack I had looked way better. But it doesn't matter because we'll be getting the new and improved one soon.

The fg for Van Zandt in the pack had a white streak on his face, likely because of his collar in this image, so I tried to redo this one myself.
