Not wild about Kreidler on the opening day roster over Malloy but it's all just temporary. When Perez, Meadows or Vierling are off the IL, Kreidler goes.

Well, to be honest, it was the only suggestion!

After a single and spectacular catch in center, Mr Kreidler has me eating crow as I often do.

Relating to this post, one of the other games that I was watching was Detroit in L.A. Actually, it was just in the first inning or two when we finished up and left. Even so, I squirmed during the pre-game, watching the Dodgers trot out their stars on the tremendous blue carpet, then the guy who drove the antique car to home plate carrying the World Series trophy. What short straw did the Tigers end up with to be the witnesses of this Roman-style triumph?

It got worse when they brought Gibby out on the field. He's ours!

What a great game. Torkleson with four walks and a bomb was fantastic.

Rough one. But if they can play like this against a robo-team that needs one of the best athletes in the world to take them down in extras, I think this is looking like a good year.
Salvage today and move on boys.

The Dodgers will win a lot of games. I thought they had game 1 with Colt Keith at the plate. 3-0 count with 2 runners on. I was all for giving him the green light in that situation. Whether, he had it and didn’t swing or had the take sign we will never know but Trienen played the crafty veteran role on him. 2-seamer in that he could have crushed followed by a cutter in the same area but in on the hands for a pop out to end it. Savvy move there.
In game 2 you knew Yamamoto was going to get his strikeouts. I was very happy that the Tigers were patient at the plate and ran that pitch count up to get to the pen. Really liked how Dingler recognized a mistake splitter and smashed it. Torres hit a pitch off the plate but had enough muscle to push it out. That is what you have to do against an ace level pitcher like Yamamoto. The ending was weird but that is baseball sometimes. Tigers are going to get Sasaki today I think. If so they need the same type of approach where you lay off that splitter as much as possible. In all, I have liked the approaches at the plate, I have liked the base running actually and even though they may get swept out of LA, which is just a brutal opening series for them, there are positives going forward. |

I assume jitters had a lot to do with Sasaki's 5 walks in 3 innings given that it was his MLB debut and was in the Tokoyo Dome. Still, hoping the Tigers exhibited patience at the plate will bear some fruit.

They really can work a starter. I think Detroit is going to win a bunch this year. Thankfully, all the opponents won't be super-teams.

Gleybor Torres on the IL. That didn't take long.

Jobe had some first outing nerves, which was to be expected. Really nice of the offense to give him a six spot to work with to take some pressure off and allow for a few mistakes that the Mariners hammered. I have been really impressed with the approaches by pretty much every hitter so far. Can’t wait to see them Friday for the home opener in person.

Outstanding SP5 performance from Mize and an opposite field double from Torkleson. I am in 1/1 heaven.
Skubal on the mound with them looking at a series sweep today.

Heart breaker. Kieth makes a mental error that leads to two runs rather than out of the inning. Drop the game 3-2.
Oh well, win the series and move on!
