Very disappointing.

You'd think on a night where a team had a grand slam aided comeback in their last at bat, it would be the biggest playoff news.

I hate the Dodgers.

I adore Shohei-sama, but I hate the Dodgers.

The only one I could offer as competition is Rick Wise hitting 2 HR's while pitching a no-no. Wise wasn't in an LCS, but Ohtani gave up hits.

I might nominate Bob Gibson's performance in Game 7 of the 1967 World Series. Most people focus on how Boston hero Jim Lonborg couldn't get the win on only two days' rest, but here's how Gibby dominated en route to his complete game 3-hit 7-2 win:

• The Cardinals got two early runs off of Lonborg. Meanwhile, through 4 innings, Gibson allowed no hits and struck out 7.

• With one out in the top of the 5th, Gibson homered to dead center. (Arguably the decisive blow, since it made the lead 3-0 and Gibson held the Sox to 2 runs.) The Cards added another run on a Roger Maris sac fly that scored Lou Brock, and led 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th.

• George Scott tripled off the CF fence for the first hit off of Gibson, and scored when Julian Javier threw the relay away. 4-1

• Javier atoned for the error by hitting a 3-run HR in the 6th. 7-1, Cards.

• In the bottom of the 8th, Gibson finally gave up his second hit of the game, a double by Rico Petrocelli into the LF corner. A wild pitch, a walk and a force-out at 2B brought Americo home, but then Gibby got two more ground outs to end the "threat".

• In the bottom of the 9th, Carl Yastrzemski's lead-off single was Boston's 3rd and final hit, but Gibson got Hawk Harrelson to GiDP and struck out Scott to end the Series. The Cardinals swarmed Gibson on the mound to celebrate…and 3B ump Augie Donatelli, crossing off of the field, swiped Javier's cap off of his head. Wth, Augie?

So a fairly-impressive two-way performance to win a championship, I'd think.

Game 2 of the 68 World Series. Mickey Lolich, a guy that hit .110 over the course of his career, hit the only home run of his career to put the Tigers up 2-0. Lolich actually got 2 hits in the game and drove in a second run later in the game. He went 9 innings to pick up the first of his 3 victories in the series, striking out 9 batters. Rumor has it he was emotionally spent after the 5th inning. I know nothing compared to last night, but still a great performance. Especially after the Cardinals dominated the Tigers in game 1.

Did Shohei Ohtani just post the greatest game in MLB history?

MLB playoffs 2025: John Schneider says Mariners fans 'should take a look in the mirror' after George Springer boos

Springer took a 95-mph sinker to the knee in the seventh inning of the Blue Jays' ALCS Game 5 loss to the Mariners

I am still rooting for the Mariners, but Schneider has a point. The only thing that I would change would be "people should take a look in the mirror".

Not looking forward to another day of soul bleaching in the office tomorrow, BUT when I come back home I have a Game 7 to watch from the archives.

Biggest perk of Germany: nobody gives a hoot about baseball (or NASCAR), and you could go three days without getting the results from anywhere, especially not the news. Or other people.

And, oh, it's all for bragging rights about who gets to be destroyed by the Fudgers, MLB's first back-to-back champs in 25 years. Huzzah.

Obnoxious taunting Dodgers fan gets both him and the woman he provoked banned from Miller Park (or whatever it's called nowadays) for life. Which of course won't mean **** to him, since he doesn't live in Milwaukee.

Meanwhile, the Cancel Police have gotten her fired from her job and she's been forced to resign from the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I hope that no actual sick kids suffer downstream consequences of people's inability to discern the actual asshole in this convo. (Hint, it's the guy who wanted to show the world how well he'd succeeded at being a dick.)

Yes, her response was inappropriate, but I'm sure she's learned her lesson by now. (No, not "Don't go to a game without somebody who could grab this guy's phone and 'accidentally' step on it" , although I could argue for that, too.)

I ****ing hate social media. Used to be people would just yell at each other and that would be the end of it, barring the occasional knife fight. Now jerks like "Mr Veteran, Ha-Ha" are trying to make money off of their exercises in incivility, and the reward system only causes more and more of this ****. FFS.

God, this is so stupid. I wish everybody would shut the hell up, stop letting it all hang out, and return to at least a modicum of civility and class.

Great. Now we can watch the Dodgers sweep the Blue Jays. I would love to be proven egregiously wrong, but I think the best chance for stopping L.A. just lost the ALCS.

Can't find words, that will fully describe how happy I am for Blue Jays! So many likable and even what feels like relatable people on this team.

I'm still shocked that Chris Bassitt got key outs to help his team reach the WS, but that's just leftover 2022 Mets trauma.

Congrats, Poutiniacs!

That was a fun series to watch. I didn't have a pony in the race and I find both teams enjoyable to watch so maybe that's why I liked the series as much. I wasn't rooting for someone to win or lose and was able to just enjoy the games. Now, in the World Series, different story. Would love to see the Dodgers lose.

It was looking so promising a couple of weeks ago. Seattle, Milwaukee, and now... blah.

Well, all aboard the Toronto train, I guess.

Considering the rate at which Seattle hitters strike out compared to the Jays, you really think the Mariners would have a better chance?

I don't think either Jays or Mariners will beat LA, but I'd give the Jays a much better chance considering they put the ball in play a lot more than Seattle.

ALCS - Mariners struck out 71 times in 7 games. 58 times in 5 vs Tigers. Against that Dodger staff, whiffs will be the undoing.

I thought the Brewers with their quirky running and single slapping had a better chance at stopping the Dodgers than most, and look how well that went.

Maybe it's just me seeing them run circles around the Mets each year. Unless Big Pete bops one over the fence in the ninth to take Game 3.
