LaMotte had played with the Senators from 1920-1922 before going down to the minors and then re-emerging with the 1925 Browns, so his pic is in the facepack under "1920". It appears to be a colorized version of a b/w shot:

In February, 1972, Roseboro told Jet magazine that the Angels had offered him a contract in 1970, but he had gone to the Senators because Bob Short had talked about getting him a coaching position, or possibly succeeding Ted Williams as manager one day. So after a year away, Roseboro did go to Orange County, spending 1972-1974 as the Halos' bullpen coach.

This is clearly a 1972 picture, as the Angels have just sewn on the big "A" on the cap, replacing the lower-case "a" (with the halo hovering, not actually on the "a") design of 1971. After '72, presumably, they ordered new caps.

We do have a pic of Roseboro in a Brooklyn Dodger uniform already on the site, but here's another one. I like it for the background details.


I also notice that Roseboro's Los Angeles pictures on the site are all road uniform shots, so here are a couple home uniform pics with "Dodgers" on the chest, rather than "Los Angeles". The first one is the image used for Roseboro's 1968 Topps card.


Also, the previously-uploaded road uniform pics are of the Dodgers' 1963-1968 uniform; here's Roseboro in the 1959-1962 version. (Note the piping around the collar, buttons and sleeves).

We have Rosie in the Twins' home pinstripes already on the site; here's the road uni (at Yankee Stadium), for the sake of completeness.


Apparently the Twins wore the "Twin Cities" patch (players labeled "Minny" and "St. P." shaking hands in front of a giant baseball) on both sleeves that year? The "Dressed to the Nines" database only has the left sleeve visible, but here Roseboro has the patch on his right sleeve, too. Huh.

Did you know that in 1971, the Dodgers had striping on the shoulder and around the sleevehole? I didn't, but here's Russell to prove it. (Man, Topps loved to photograph this guy; there were like 20 pictures of him on the site.)

The most common photo of Rose (it's on his 1973 Topps card, and it's the pic used in the facepack) shows him wearing a 1971 Angels cap (with lower-case "a", as discussed in the Roseboro post), even though he wasn't traded until that winter, and joined the Angels in 1972. (My Metsies made this really awesome deal to get Jim Fregosi, who was gonna totally solve the third-base problem…*sigh*. Kill.Me.Now.)

Eventually, the Seraphim did get around to giving Rose the correct cap, with the capital "A" on it. For a pic (and facepack image) of Rose in chronologically-appropriate headgear, look no farther.
