The problem with the freezing you're experiencing is that the trace file won't have any useful information if the game only freezes and doesn't actually crash.

You mentioned earlier in the thread that this started happening for the first time in a long time. So it's likely that something on your system changed around when this started happening.

So to try to track down what might've changed, I have some questions for you.

Did you install any new software around then? New anti-virus etc? Change any hardware?

What programs are you running in the background whenever you play OOTP? What are your system specs and your OS?

I just checked out my installation history and don't have anything new. A bunch of stuff has updated in since the 29th/30th but nothing new. I've been using the same AV for years (Norton) and no new hardware since I built this machine a couple of years ago. It's exactly the same set-up as what I played 18 with for over 800 hours without any issues at all.

I don't run any "programs" while OOTP is running outside of leaving a browser open sometimes (Firefox). I used to be a pretty heavy "gamer" and while I don't play FPS or other resource hogs much any more I'm still in the habit of keeping background processes to a minimum.

System Specs:
Windows 10
ASRock Z97 Professional
i7-4790K @ 4.00 GHz
MSI GEForce GTX 980
16GB RAM
1920x1080 60Hz monitor

All drivers are current. I do have the Historical Ballparks and Historical Facegen add-ons installed via the Steam Workshop. I play modern MLB mostly though so they're not in play when most of the freezing is happening.

I got yet another Microsoft C++ Runtime error, deleting several months of simming, trades, etc. Back to Jan 1.

That broke me. I'm not playing anymore. I have no interest in constantly saving every few sims because I'm afraid of it crashing. I'm done.

You can always set the autosave to monthly or even more frequently.

If you're getting C++ errors though, the issue is almost certainly with the Visual Studio C++ install on your computer. You'll want to make sure that's fully up to date by downloading and installing the most recent packs from the Microsoft site.

Error

OOTP found that the crashed_on_startup flag is set. Obviously the game crashed when you started it last time. OOTP will reset the graphics settings to default values. You can set them back later in the Game Preferences Dialog.

This Error pops up when i try to open the game.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times, that does not work.
I hope i do not lose all my online leagues.

Please help me launch the game again!

Everytime i minimize 19 to access my desktop and then bring 19 back up i can not access any controls. No drop down menus will open but the normal Windows cursor is there but the finger pointer is not. Everytime i maximize 19 It goes black and becomes unresponsive. I have had to ctrl-alt-delete on 19 over 25 times in 2 weeks vs 4 times in a year on 18.

Are you on a PC or Mac? PC

What OS are you using? Windows 10, recently updated

Do you have the game on Steam, Origin or the Standalone? Steam

What are your system specs (especially your video card and your amount of memory)? Where do I find this info?

Where exactly does your game crash? What are you doing just before it crashes?

It gives me that message after it asks me to load a game.

Can you consistently get the crash to repeat by doing the same thing or is it seemingly random? Do you get an error message? If so, what?

Error message quoted above ... comes up when I respond to question about loading a game.

Does this crash in only one saved game or in multiple saves? If only one, then we'll need to see your league files as per the instructions in my sig (or you can just upload to Dropbox/Google Drive and post a link)

It would also help us to have the game generated trace file.

To generate that on a Windows PC, do the following:

If you're on Steam, right-click on your game in the Steam library, then Properties, and on the General menu click on 'Set Launch Options' and enter the word "tracemode" (without quotes.).

I never can find the Steam Library ... I log in, get my account and there's no link to a library. I go on so seldom this happens every time.


If you have the standalone, right-click on the OOTP19 shortcut on your desktop, click on properties and add 'tracemode' to the command line

Then try to start the game again. Get it to crash.

After it does so, navigate to the following folder: Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 19\debug

Find the trace file there and post with the rest of your information. That should have some data that will help us figure out why the game is crashing.

You can post that information here or in a thread in the bug reports forum. We'll take a look at the report as soon as possible and get in touch with you as soon as we can if we need more information.

Let me know my next step.

I still get hangs playing out games in 3D after switching to full screen, but they seem to be happening less frequently. I probably crash / hang once per 5-10 games instead of once per 3. Still not great though.

I'm playing the latest patch on Steam and whenever I finish a game and choose to leave the game it will automatically crash to the desktop without an error file produced. It just simply closes out the moment it takes you make to your home screen. Any thoughts on what I might be able to do?

What version of the game do you have, Steam or the standalone?

I think I replied to Steve via a support ticket, but for both of you guys, can you go to the 3d settings and try setting the OpenGL mode to each of the different options in turn to see if any of them change the results you're getting and let you finish a game without getting a crash?

It looks like that worked. I changed the OpenGL settings to Use OpenGL only for 3D and it lets me continue after leaving a game.

I'm having the same issue. When I exit OOTP, it starts to save and gets to about 14% and then CTD. Steam version installed, no other changes on my system. The first crash happened after my Windows 10 latest update. Experienced other problems after Windows 10 update, I lost my sound, a couple of small issues too. All corrected. I can load a previous backup of my game and it plays and saves/exits and saves no problem. Only my current save game is not working.I have attached my trace file.

Just to clarify, this is when you're actually leaving a saved game, not leaving a game you played out in 3d, correct?

If so then we'll probably need to see the league files (instructions in my sig or you can just put them up on Dropbox or Google Drive and send me a link).

Yes, it's when I'm leaving a saved game-exiting OOTP.


The files are on the FTP site.The uploaded data files are from the folder inside my league folder called "incident_2018-06-09 22_36_38" which was created when the games first crashed. Uploaded file is "Curt". When the game crashed, all my data files disappeared except 3 which I have also uploaded as "Curt2".
