Pepper Martin is out for four months with a torn back muscle, it seems. Oh, great. That's not good at all, if so. Looks like we'll have to do some hunting for someone who can take his place on the roster as long as he's out. This means he'll probably be out much of the rest of the season, of course, if not all of it. CD out.

Took the Braves down again, to stay ahead of the Pirates, who are now in second place. Hope we can keep in first while Martin and others are still out, of course, but that may not be so easy to do now. Giants pounded on us later in the game, after we'd briefly taken the lead in it. I hope we can find some way to stay in contention easily enough while a few of our key players are unable to play. But not having Hallahan and Martin is certainly going to hurt unless other players are able to step up for us well enough, I think. That is all. CD out.

Bad weather postpones our next game against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds until July, it seems, after the All-Star Break. We now sit a game back in essence, with two games more to play still than the Pirates this season. We have finished 32 games, they've finished 34, you see, in a scheduled season length of 154 games a year, as of 1934.

We're 19-13 at the moment, and the top four teams in the NL at present are the Pirates, Cardinals, Giants, and Cubs, at or within three games of first place. As for the AL, the top four teams at present are the Yankees, Tigers, Senators, and White Sox, all at the top or within six full games of first place in the league.

Mel Ott already has ten HRs for the season for the Tigers, after signing with them during the offseason. He's currently projected to hit 45 for the season. In this particular save, his current career high for home runs in a season is 46, back in 1932, and his current career high for RBI in a single regular season is 152 RBI's, also in 1932.

As far as Babe Ruth's home run total stands right now, it is at 615, as of May 23, 1934. Chances do not look all that great for him to be able to match his real-world actual home run total, due to various injuries he's suffered since the start of this save. However, he is currently projected to hit 41 home runs this year, so maybe he can gain some ground back on his real-life numbers, somehow. He's only hit 50, though, since the end of the 1930 season, just so you know, folks.

Cardinals complete the three-game sweep this series against the Dodgers at Ebbets Field. Next up for us is the Phillies in their park, then off to Cincinnati for three in theirs, including a double-header, to finish the month. We start off June with three in Pittsburgh, and then we're scheduled not to travel again until after a six-series homestand is finished, facing everyone except Cincinnati during that long homestand.

I'll show you later exactly what our schedule looks like for June and July, even after the All-Star Game. But not right now, in any case. Hopefully while we're waiting for our key players to heal, we can stay in serious condition for the NL title, at least, of course. But that may not be too easy, for three teams are very close to us now in the standings, it seems to me.

Cards split the doubleheader on May 30. There were eight doubleheaders scheduled for MLB on that day, four in the NL, four in the AL. The only team in the NL to sweep their doubleheader for the day was the Cubs, while only the Athletics managed to do that in the AL for it. Lloyd Waner has a sprained finger that is currently listed as a day-to-day issue for about two weeks. Don't think we'll put him on the DL just yet, though, to be sure.

Here are the MLB standings prior to the games of June 1, 1934, for your viewing pleasure. I'm a bit surprised, at least, by how well the Senators have apparently handled the first six weeks or so of the season, in truth. And how certain teams predicted to do well haven't exactly performed yet. Considering the major injuries we've already seen this season for us, I have to be pleased we're still in serious contention here so far in the season. Yes, I know the RL Cardinals did well in 1934, but they certainly didn't have the Waner boys, for instance, at all. Nor Lazzeri and Rolfe, either.

As for the player representing my grandfather, seems somehow the numbers for his skills in the editor are not as they should be, for some reason. I don't know why, but a number of the numbers for certain boxes seem to be much lower than they should be, if not at the very bottom of the allowable ranges. I think I'll have to reinput them, if they negatively changed in error, or if they didn't potentially take properly when that player was originally created in the first place. I'll do that after the season, though, so as not to unfairly affect any statistics for this season somehow needlessly, if at all possible.

As for the player representing my grandfather, seems somehow the numbers for his skills in the editor are not as they should be, for some reason. I don't know why, but a number of the numbers for certain boxes seem to be much lower than they should be, if not at the very bottom of the allowable ranges. I think I'll have to reinput them, if they negatively changed in error, or if they didn't potentially take properly when that player was originally created in the first place. I'll do that after the season, though, so as not to unfairly affect any statistics for this season somehow needlessly, if at all possible. I'll keep you posted, then, as needed, in relation to him.
