MLB news: AL and NL leaders after 22 weeks
I have not played for almost three weeks, so I had forgotten I was posting leaders only at the end of the month.
I set them up, so I might as well post them. Last edited by rink23; 01-04-2019 at 04:57 AM. |

River Walkers news: Sept. 25 -- St. Louis 7, Springfield 5
St. Louis' Nicky Delmonico hit a two-run home run off Springfield's Carl Edwards Jr. with one-out in the top of the ninth inning, giving the River Walkers a 7-5 win in Springfield, Ill.
It was the second homer of the game for Delmonico, who hit a solo shot off Matt Andriese in the fifth inning. Tucker Barnhart had a run-scoring single later in the inning, tying it at 5-5. Springfield had owned a 5-1 lead after two innings. The River Walkers, however, saw outfielder Andrew Benintendi leave the game with an injury after making a throw in the bottom of the second inning. The extent of the injury to Benintendi, an MVP candidate who is batting .345 with 23 homers, 91 RBIs and 106 runs scored, is uncertain. With the victory, St. Louis improved to 106-51 and lead Springfield by 19 games in the NL South standings. |

River Walkers news: Benintendi injury deemed not serious
The St. Louis River Walkers dodged a major injury scare when they were informed that All-Star left fielder Andrew Benintendi is only dealing with hamstring soreness after he was forced to leave their Sept. 25 game against Springfield.
Benintendi was cleared to resume play immediately, but may sit a game or two with the Walkers having already clinched the best record in the league. Benintendi has an outside chance to be the NL MVP. He is hitting .345 with .345 with 24 homers and 91 RBIs. His batting average tops the NL and he also leads with 208 hits. |

River Walkers news: Sept. 30 -- Kansas City 1, St. Louis 0, 10 innings
Kansas City's Joey Gallo led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a solo home run off St. Louis reliever Jerry Blevins, giving the Pit Masters a 1-0 win in both teams' final game of the regular season in Kansas City.
River Walkers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer tossed six shutout innings, allowing just two hits but did not get any support as his offense registered what was probably a season-high 17 strikeouts. The loss marked the fourth time the Walkers have been shutout this season, and they will close the regular season on a five-game losing streak. Anyway, the River Walkers did end the regular season with a record of 106-56, which was 14 games better than Indianapolis, which won the AL West, and Springfield, which finished second behind the Walkers in the NL South. |
