Well, first chance I've had but I didn't. I haven't played out any games in this save.

Took 18 years to win the first. Wonder if I can win another before Barry Bonds shows up?

For the 6 years you can afford him...

If that...

Players will sometimes sign multi year contracts that run into what would be free agent years. I got a couple years past the first free agent year with Maz and Hubbs and, going back to the 50s more than a couple with Gus Bell and Frank Thomas. I'd have to look. Clemente and Stargell too.

Its easy to get the impression seeing free agents leaving every year that they all leave as soon as they can.

Bell and Thomas signing long term were cool. When the team was terrible most players were looking to bail. Arb players wouldn't talk contract. They'd just say take it to arb. They must have really hated management. Amazing. Anne Bonny is such a nice lady!!!

Hmmm... I suppose I should comment on the origin of Anne Bonny as GM.

Several years ago I was in a Diamond Mind league. The teams were fake and the players, well stars rated on their seven best years is pretty fake.

The team manager didn't do anything. Just a name. My team was the Treasure Island Pirates so I picked Jose Gaspar to be my manager. A real Pirate to manage the Pirates and local flavor to boot. He's probably a myth but the Gasparilla Festival is named after him.

The commissioner said no, I had to have a real manager from era we were playing. So when I got OOTP I returned to the idea of a real pirate to run the Pirates and Anne Bonny got the job.

In my area (Tampa Bay region) for those of us not right on the coast Tropical Storm and Hurricane Elsa turned out to be like an extended summer Gulf Effect storm. I haven't seen specifically but I expect there was some storm surge flooding in coastal areas but for those of us not right on the coast it turned out not to be much. I just finished picking up the downed palm branches. Ten minutes work and broken up they all fit in the trash can.

Good to hear you're OK. Hope there was no damage to the WS trophy...

WS Trophy is fine in the bytes on my computer. But perhaps I should consider cloud storage for additional safety?

Excellent idea. Upsize it to allow for future additions to your silverware collection...

Here we go, its said winning is easier than repeating.

I think I overpaid Clemente on his extension. I think it was a temporary caffeine deficiency.

Pirates management is getting a bit weary of negative press coverage. They're going to find a way to upset the news cycle in their favor!

A story about their fan base extending to the Antipodes sounds like just the thing. I shall forward a picture of myself holding my weenie if that helps.

The only effect of the Green Weenie is to jinx other teams and its power can be depleted from over use. (Actually I think the Terrible Towel is much more formidable.)

Yes, that problem is universal. Overuse of my weenie has given me no end of trouble over the years...
