That was a great guess. Random debut inaugural drafts are 44 rounds by default.

I was just going to write that. Good thing I checked the next page of the thread. 44 to start, and then 5 round ammys, with no minor leagues, and an unlimited reserve roster is the way I go, and I've found it works really well.

I'm using a couple levels of minors with my current league. Trying to avoid all the recycled players, so when I run out of players, I run out of players. I've been using 7 round amateur drafts, but I will probably dial that back to 6 next year.

I doubt the game controls the talent of the draft pool or the remaining years of play of the draftees to keep both consistent. So it may be necessary to adjust the number of rounds often rather than keeping a fixed number.

I now have 3 players in the 3000 hit club. Tony Fernandez, Dave Orr and Hank Aaron. Mel Ott continues to pound and now has over 530 home runs. Meanwhile, Hank Aaron is over the 500 mark as well.

I like the fact that the big milestones are really challenging to reach. It feels more like baseball, to me.

Toronto wins the AL East for the 6th straight year. The Chicago Grasshoppers win the NL East, qualifying for the post season for their first time. This leaves the Chicago Olympian's as the only team to never make the playoffs.
Hank Aaron followed up a 44 home run season in 2002 with 43 bombs in 2003. The 37 year old now has 522 career home runs, putting him 22 behind Mel Ott, the all time leader with 544. Ott is 36 years old Toad Ramsey added another 16 wins in 2003 giving him 273. Ramsey now has 3894 strikeouts. Amazing thing, Ramsey has never once won 20 games and has yet to ever once be named Pitcher of the Year. Ramsey is 39 years old. Trailing Ramsey by 13 wins is Garrit Cole. Cole(38) had a rough season in 2003, 10-6 5.01. Coles strikeout totals have fallen from 214 in 2001 to 112 in 2002 and 69 in 03, Have to think Cole's retirement may occur this off season. The other pitchers with 200 wins are Ed Seward(36) with 226, Steve Carlton(34) with 216 and Madison Bumgarner(39) with 205. Going to be interesting to see if Austin Riley comes back for one more season. Riley is sitting at 2992 hits, but he is 40 years old. Last edited by David Watts; 12-03-2022 at 10:47 AM. |

So Tony Fernandez continues to impress. Dude just won a batting title at the age of 38.

August 1st. 2006. Season 20.
Hank Aaron(40) and Mel Ott(39) have both reached 600 home runs. Aaron has 603, while Ott has 602. Aaron also became the first player to reach 2000 RBI and now sits at 2059. Reggie Jackson(38) now has 404 career bombs. Tony Fernandez continues to defy father time. The 41 year old now has 3672 hits. Hank Aaron has 3545. Other member of the 3000 hit club are Dave Orr(3323), Paul Hines(3104) and Austin Riley(3008). Fernandez also has 732 career doubles Toad Ramsey lacks just 2 wins to reach 300, but the 41 year old is currently pitching at the AAA level in the San Diego system. Gerrit Cole fell short in his quest for 300, retiring after the 2005 season with 273 wins. Cole has a career record of 273-198, 3.47. Cole tallied 3425 strikeouts and finished his career with a 78.7 WAR. Garrit was a 6 time All Star and 4 time Pitcher of the Year. Cole pitched from 1987-2003 in Seattle. He then pitched a season in St Louis and finished his career with Pittsburgh. While playing with Seattle, Cole won a championship in 2002. Cole was a post season participant 6 times, pitching in 18 games, starting 15 of them. He is 8-4 in post season play, 2.95 with 89 strikeouts. At this time his 8 wins is the most in league history. 37 year old Steve Carlton is the next closest to 300 wins with 253. Thinking next year will be the year we see our first Hall of Fame inductee. Ted Williams had 74% of the votes needed this past off season. |

Chicago won the AL West in 2006. All 24 teams have now made the post season at least once. Should I expand? I don't think I will. Expansion always seems to backfire on me. I will tell you this, I think my next random will either be a 16 team, 8 per subleague or a 20 team, 10 per subleague. NO DIVISIONS. I really think that's the setup I like best.

Barry Bonds becomes the 4th player to reach the 400 home run mark. I'm so anxious to see how the game treats Bonds through the years that correspond with the steroid years. I also have Mark McGwire in my league, so the same goes for him. I've yet to have a 50 home run guy. Wondering if Bonds or McGwire will be that guy. I'm also anxious to see what type of OBP Bonds tallies through these years.
The third player to reach 400 home runs, Reggie Jackson retires following the 2007 season. I'm at work, but I think Jackson finished with 409 career home runs. Tony Fernandez has yet to file his retirement papers, but as play began in April 2008 he remains unsigned. He played sparingly in 2007, so I have my doubts he gets picked up. If he does, I have a feeling he may end up plodding along at the AAA level Tony has 3700+ hits for his career. Hank Aaron now has a chance to pass Fernandez and become the leagues all time hit leader. Aaron has 3600+ hits. Aaron is steadily moving down the San Francisco batting order hitting 7th or 8th more often than not. He even gets pinch hit for now at times. 700 home runs is not going to happen, but 650 may be reachable. Mel Ott continues to stay on Aaron's tail in the all time home run race. |

Hank Aaron retires following the 2009 season with 3956 hits and 673 home runs. .280 career average, 2066 runs scored and 2282 RBI. 818 OPS, 126 OPS+ and 88.9 WAR.
Mel Ott also retires following the 09 season. 3033 hits and 635 home runs. .252 career batting average. 1902 runs scored and 1974 RBI. .820 OPS, 129 OPS+. 95.4 WAR |
