Yes you are right. A lot of pre-mlb players/personnel were known for other things besides baseball, such as William Tweed, who was a corrupt politician who escaped from prison, and Joseph Pinckney who was a Civil War general.

John Lowell, Lowell Base Ball Club, 1866
He also served as an umpire in the 'major leagues' in 1872 and 1873.

Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales, The Prince who played baseball in the 1700s?
Supposedly, he played "earliest recorded baseball game" on September 19, 1749. This game was likely different from the game that Alexander Cartwright drew up the rules for, but the Prince is mentioned in many baseball history books as having significance in the origins of the game.

Pre-Civil War Chicago Excelsiors Players, 1858
George Throop, Simeon Farwell, and William Kennedy, played for the Excelsior of Chicago/Chicago Excelsiors in 1858. These were the only members of that team I could find pics of.

Emperor Jingzong of Tang (early baseball inventor?)
Emperor Jingzong of Tang was a 15 year old Chinese emperor who reigned from the year 824 A.D. until his assassination in 827 A.D. He was mentioned by baseball historian John Thorn as having been criticized for often playing an early baseball-like game rather than taking care of the needs of his people. He also played a lot of polo and loved music, so much so that he would give away super expensive items and other 'lavish rewards' to musicians he liked. It remains unclear whether or not he actually invented the ball game he played or not.

Cantigas de Santa Maria Ballgame
Circa 1280s, this is a depiction of an early baseball-like game being played in Spain from a book called 'Cantigas de Santa Maria.' From what I heard those players are actually supposed to be dudes not women which surprised me a bit though I could be wrong idk.

The Ghistelles Calendar Ballgame
Circa 1300, from The Ghistelles Calendar. This picture depicts a bat and ball game being played with a bat that looks very similar to the modern-day baseball bat. I think it is from the Netherlands.

Nick Young, Washington Olympics, 1869-1870
Played for the Washington Olympics from 1869-1870 (he might have played in earlier years but these were the only years I confirmed so far) and also managed and umpired before serving as the president of the National League from 1885 to 1902.
