Most pictures of Alyea as a Senator show him wearing the red-capped uniform the Sens adopted in 1968, not the pinstriped and blue-capped suit he made his 1965 debut in. And for good reason: after 13 ABs in '65, Alyea spent the next two seasons in the minors, not returning until '68. (And, as far as the pinstripes go, almost all of his pics are in road uniforms, even the blue-capped picture Topps for some reason put on his 1969 card.)

But here we have him, in his original gear. (Not thrilled with the red piping on the cap, tbh.) Probably from Spring Training in 1965 or 1966, as Alyea is wearing number 25. When he didn't make the team in '66, Barry Moore (who had worn #17 in 1965) switched to that number, and when Alyea got back up in 1968, he had to wear #3. So no later than 1966, I'd guess.

Another 2 sport professional, Shorty Des Jardien played for Cleveland Indians in his only MLB appearance. He also played pro football for the Cleveland Indians and is a member of the college Football Hall of Fame. The shot of Mike as an Expo in the Pitchers Pack is an edit from his 1973 Topps card, and frankly, it looks as if Topps did some airbrush work on that image. (The silky-looking cap is just odd, IMO.) This picture isn't the greatest look for Mike, between the barely-there eyebrows and the incipient double-chin, but at least it's honest.

The Indians pic of Cardenal in the Batters Pack is taken from a distance, but this image is right in your face, even in semi-profile. (In fact, it's so in your face that I can't get rid of the "Topps" watermark in the facepack edit, but I still think it's an improvement. JMO.)

Speaking of Cardenal, his Cardinals (heh, Cardenal of the Cardinals) pic in the Batters Pack is actually a photo of him as an Indian, from the "C" on his cap to Chief Wahoo on his sleeveless jersey. Naturally, I went looking for something better, but couldn't really find anything great, just his 1971 Topps card and a b/w photo with Jose's face in the shadows. (There's one lovely 8x10 of Jose the Cardinal out there, but it's a shot of him completing his swing with his back pretty much towards the camera, so that's no good.)

Hoping I (or someone else) can find something better, but for now these are at least a slight improvement. (I mean, it's the correct team, for starters.) Until then, here's what I have.

Here are photos of Billingham with the 1968 Dodgers, the photo in question, and Marshall during his time with the Expos.

A positive ID can be made from the ears, chin and nose tip.

The center photo shows Jack Billingham, and was taken during spring training 1969, before Billingham was sent to the Astros to complete the Donn Clendenon trade.

Also correct. Here are photos of Tiant ca. 1965, the photo in question, and Cardenal in 1974.

A positive ID can be made from the chin, nose and earlobe.

This also gives me a good opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the positive interaction and spirit of cooperation we've enjoyed here. It's my goal to keep photo finding an enjoyable job/hobby/diversion for everyone. When there's a question about photos, we all work together to find the answer. Not showing anyone up, no hard feelings, just trying to sort out who-is-who.

I can't feel too bad about the Marshall/Billingham mix-up; I was working off of the partial uniform # visible (20, 26, 28, 29, 30, 36, 38, or 39) and got to 1971 before I found a Expo who fit. Of course, since Billingham never actually pitched for the 'spos, he (and his uniform #) aren't listed on any team rosters. It makes sense though, since these pics are from a run of 1969 pics (some Sandy Alomars, some Fregosis, Rico Carty, an Al Downing), and Marshall was a Pilot then. Bringing in the ringers is cheating, Topps!

No excuse for the Tiant/Cardenal mix-up, though. I saw the pic, said he looks Latino, not just African-American, thought of Tiant, but started with the hitters first, and Cardenal was actually a very good match (same nose, it's just that Tiante has thicker eyebrows and his chin is even blockier than Cardenal's) and then I forgot to cross-check the pitchers because I got distracted by the Cleveland pic that was being used for "Jose Cardenal/Cardinals". Dumb, dumb, dumb. Sigh. Sorry about that.

Well, at least I got the Alyea pics correct, right? You like seeing Alyea in Senators blue, right? Right? Sigh.

(And yes, I've downloaded your entire file, Cheech. I've been meaning to put up some of your variants that aren't in the Batters and Pitchers Packs [Bill Haselman/Tigers, Orlando Hernandez/Diamondbacks, etc.]. Unless you'd like to do those yourself?)
