Game 113: Boston Americans vs. St. Louis Browns
It's deja vu all over again, as Boston drops another close game as a result of defensive errors. The St. Louis Browns (56-57) prevailed over the Boston Americans (65-48) by a 3 to 2 score. Boston maintains a slim 1-game lead in the American League race. This is not the way I wanted to start the final month of the regular season.
St. Louis pitcher Hooks Wiltse (10-17) limited scoring today, as he permitted 2 earned runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in his 111-pitch outing; Game Score 63. Sam Leever (18-8) gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and 1 hit batsman in 8 2/3 innings of work; Game Score 61. The Browns offense was generated by Patsy Donovan (2 for 4, Double, Run), Billy Lauder (1 for 3, RBI), and Kip Selbach (1 for 1, Run). The Americans relied on Solly Hofman (3 for 4, Run, 2 Stolen Bases) and Jesse Hoffmeister (1 for 1, Run). Player of the Game: Hooks Wiltse

Game 115: Boston Americans vs. Chicago White Sox
It took extra innings to decide the outcome, but the solid pitching of Johnny Lush and the clutch hit of Chick Stahl propelled the Boston Americans (67-48) to a 2 to 1 victory over the Chicago White Sox (46-69). The win, coupled to a Senators loss, places the Americans into a 2-game lead in the American League race.
Picking up his 16th win of his rookie season, Johnny Lush (16-12) allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits, 2 hit batsmen, 1 wild pitch while striking out 6 in his 123-pitch, 10 inning outing; Game Score 85. Bill Carrick (13-15) was tagged with the loss after permitting 2 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and 1 walk; Game Score 73. With limited offense by both teams, not many hitting performances to spotlight. Chick Stahl (1 for 3, RBI. Sacrifice Bunt) contributed for Boston, while Harry Bay (1 for 3, Run, Walk) played well for Chicago. Player of the Game: Johnny Lush (Season: #18 / Career: #18)

Game 120: Boston Americans vs. Cleveland Naps
The red-hot Americans were cooled down in their road trip to Cleveland, as the strong pitching of Watty Lee led his Cleveland Naps (59-61) team to a convincing 7 to 1 victory over the visiting Boston Americans (71-49). Despite the loss, Boston still maintains a 6-game lead in the American League standings.
Watty Lee (16-13) twirled a gem today, as he allowed 1 unearned run on 9 hits and 2 walks in his 120-pitch effort; Game Score 65. Jimmy Sheckard (2 for 4, Double, RBI) and Harry Lumley (1 for 4, RBI, Stolen Base) played well in the loss. Player of the Game: Sam Leever (Season: #16 / Career: #52)
