This is the last guy from those posted photo threads from different era's.
On to something else...... Vivian Schwalger Rating 1 Australia Cruiserweight 1983-2001 8 wins / 8 losses / 1 draw / 5 KO Trainer: Jeff Malcolm Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Schwalger won an 8 round decision over a Sammy Samuela in Feb 1983 and then boxrec shows no fights for him again until June 1987. In Oct 1987 he fought a 4 round draw with Craig Peterson. After one other fight, a win in 1987, Schwalger is absent again until Feb 1989 when he looses an 8 round decision to Peterson. That's again for another whole year until March 1990 when Shwalger fights Apollo Sweet for the OPBF and Australian Cruiserweight Titles. Sweet stops Vivian in the 8th round. BoxRec has a note that Schwalger, the promotors and two busloads of fans are all convicts who are temporarily released from Jail. Reason why apparently for Schwalger's infrequent record. After the fight with Sweet, it must have been back off to jail for Schwalger until 1992 when he fights again in June and fights a half dozen times between then and mid 1993. He looses 6th round TKO to Dave Russell in July 1992 for the vacant Australian CW title and then in May 1993 he's knocked out in the 4th round by Ted Cofie in another bout for the Australian CW title. After another 2 year layoff he fights a couple times in 1995 and then out of the ring again until Jan 1998 when he fights for and wins the vacant Queensland Heavyweight Title. Schwalger then a couple months later is stopped in the 1st round by Danny Buzza. Schwalger then shows up one more time in the ring in March 2001 when he's stopped by Phil Gregory in the 5th round in a bout for the Queensland State HW Title. |

Otha Brown Rating 4 USA
Light Heavyweight 1959-66 24 wins / 4 losses / 3 draws / 4 KO Hometown Miami, FL Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto BoxRec lists Brown as a heavyweight being of course the tail end of his career he fought into that division but the bulk of his career appeared to be at the lightheavy ranking. Brown compiled a 20-0-2,4KO record thru May 1963 fighting a mix of middle, light and heavyweight opponents. At the tale end of that run he knocked out Battling Siki (a MW of the same name as the LHW) in the 9th round, KO'd Freddy Blades in 7, won a 10 round decision over Sammy Stone ant then at Madison Square Garden in May 1963 he knocked out Paul Johnson in the 3rd round. Brown seemed poised making a climb up the middle ranks of the light heavyweight ranks. After fighting an 8 round draw with Simon Ramos(9-6-1) in Puerto Rico, Brown came back MSG in New York to take on Floyd McCoy(16-18-2) and lost for the first time in surprising fashion, dropping a short 4 round decision to McCoy in November 1964. Brown got back on track in seemed with successive wins over Jesse Bowdry, McCoy and Levi Forte in early/mid 1964. He then decided to go international with his show and traveled to London England in January 1965 where he fought Chic Calderwood in Kensington. Calderwood dropped Brown in the 8th round. The first time Brown was stopped in a fight. After that brief, unsuccessful foray into international boxing, Brown went back home to Miami where in April 1965 he dropped a 10 round UD to Rodolfo Luciano Diaz. Brown then "retired" from the ring except for a brief two fight comeback in November/December 1966 when he first won a 10 round decision over Willie Johnson(20-35-2,9KO), but then quit for good after getting KO'd in the 7th round by George Johnson. |

This guy's record doesn't look like much, but he had an impressive list of opponents who we've seen rated into the game. There's also some other guys he fought that looking at might be of interest to add in, so I'm going to start a little mini project of looking at rating some of Mr. Johnson's other opponents. It's interesting to look at guys like this and follow thier careers through BoxRec and see how thier "fight tree" branches out.
Willie Johnson Rating 1 USA Heavyweight 1961-78 20 wins / 35 losses / 2 draws / 9 KO Hometown: Deerfield Park, FL birthplace: Dothan, AL? Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Johnson started out 3-11-0 that included two losses to Prentice Snipes in back to back fights in August 1961 and in April 1964 he was stopped in the 4th round by Ollie Wilson in a bout for the Florida State HW Title. Losses to Al Jones(the first of 28 straight following a loss to start his career) and Levi Forte followed. Johnson then won 5 straight in early/mid 1965 including a 6 round decision over Tommy Fields. Over the next three years he defeated Willie Tiger twice and Tony Ventura while loosing quite a few fights against rated boxers. Those defeats were against Prentice Snipes, Chip Johnson, Willie Tiger, Dante Cane, Al Jones, Willi Besmanoff, Otha Brown, Floyd Patterson, Jefferson DAvis, Tony Ventura, Frank DePaula, Dave Zyglewicz and Raimo Nisula. After loosing the 6 round decision to Nisula in September 1968, Johnson was out of the ring until March 1970 when in March, May and June he defeated George Holden(9-27-1,1) twice and John Hudgins(15-20-5,12). But then he lost five straight fights, all but one by knockout loosing to Vicente Rondon, Earnie Shavers, Eddie Peoples(8-0-0), Baby Boy Rolle and Gregorio Peralta. After the loss to Peralta in March 1972 he beat a Brian O'Melia(16-32-2,6) in April, then did not fight again for almost two years. In Feb 1974 Johnson was KO'd by James Scott in the 4th round. Another 2-1/2 year layoff was stopped with a 4 round decision loss to a Keith Kelly(8-2-0,3) in October 1976. Two years later in October 1978 Johnson and Kelly put the gloves on again against each other with Kelly winning again, a 6 round decision this time. That was finally it for Johnson's career. |

Kapovich put together a string of 11 wins in a row during which time he began fight more in the heavyweight bracket. If you could just knock out the other 2,632 names currently on the list that would be swell.
