A Few Colorization Requests

My personal interest always lies with the Cleveland franchises and I was hoping you could work some magic with these three: Joe Altobelli, Jack Conway and Merl Combs.

If you are satisfied with a cropped version of your Conway image baseball birthdays has produced the attached.

Okcochise submitted the attached Altobelli image, again the scale may not be to be your requirement.

Could the Combs image be an adapted version of the attached 1950 Washington image?

Thanks!

I don't always follow the colorization threads as I much prefer the original format of the photographs. The Altobelli one is sufficient, but I wouldn't mind Krantzbucks taking a stab at Conway. That previous version is pretty washed out.
You're right on with Combs. There isn't much that features him with Cleveland that's any good so a reasonably decent hat swap was manufactured.

Billy Lush 1895

My US tennis buddy is an Indians fan so I have somewhat of a soft spot for them too, though I am a National Leaguer. Maybe you may consider these as alternate or additional requests.

Billy Lush was the Indians (or more accurately Blues) starting Left Fielder in 1904. Closest I can get to an Indians image is from the preceeding year when he was with the Tigers. Lush was the relative unknown in an group of otherwise established, historically prominent, Indians/Blues/Naps lineup batting seventh in a team that featured Harry Bay, Bill Bradley, Elmer Flick, Nap Lajoie, Charlie (Piano Legs) Hickman, Terry Turner, Harry Bemis and Bill Bernhard.

Fritz Buelow 1899

Buelow was the Indians (or now more correctly Naps with the established prominence of their Second-Baseman) starting catcher in 1905. The previous year he had played an equal number of games, 42, for both Detroit and Cleveland. The only Indians image I have of him is 90x135. The best image I have of him is again while with Detroit, this time 1902.

Like Lush I do not believe we have any colored image of Buelow.

5 of the players from the 1904 Indians starting lineup maintained that status (Bay, Flick.Lajoie, Turner and Bradley). Significantly Buelow often batted third in the lineup between the Hall of Famers Flick and Lajoie. Newcomers to the starting lineup were First Baseman George Stovall and Left Fielder Jim Jackson. Addie Joss was the leading winner.

Joe Birmingham 1906

Birmingham was a significant force, in more than one capacity, in Cleveland baseball history during the first 2 decades of the 20th Century. Not greatly noted for his batting prowess he was usually a fixture as the team's Centre-Fielder.

This image is from 1911 and again I am unaware that a colored image of Birmingham exists.

The Cleveland team was usually referred to as the Naps during this period. In 1912 and 1913 the nickname Molly McGuires became prominent.

Joe Birmingham

Here's the 2 Birmingham images I have on file, one from the 1908 season in Cleveland and the other from his final year. Glad to have another Cleveland fan on this board.

Thanks for the images the latter is new to me and would be my favourite, I am not sure how representative the cap is on the 1908 image.

Not an Indians fan, just that they are a regular topic of discussion when we talk about our allegiances.

Brower was the Indians starting first baseman in 1923 but the best image I have of him is with Washington. Again I believe this would be the first colorized image of this player. Please select your choice from the 2 alternatives. The small image is undated, the large from 1921.

Norman Hill

Norman Hill project. I liked your efforts. It looks pretty convincing. These sort of efforts are often hit or miss with a LOT of trial and error in trying to blend edges and conceal defects. I colorized the head as you requested and have also included the attempt I made at creating a Norman Hill with the Seattle Pilots.
