Complete Universe Facegen Pack 2.0 (New)

Attention Fast Spring'ers. The link to the facegen pack in my signature block and on the first post of this thread is now updated with everybody's latest and greatest.

The Steam version will go up in a few hours. Got to wait for the Mod Workshop to open and then there are a few additional steps. Look for Eddie Murray's face again as the thumbnail until I think of someone else to put there as the cover player.

Thanks to everyone that put in the work to make these over the years. It is the work of many and I am happy to host and contribute to it. Thanks esp. to AESP_Pres and ChrisG for their recent updates.

Now...[checks watch]... punch out of work early and get ready to play some OOTP.

Always glad to help, if we don't go all in producing we will never complete the pack.. still updating just starting 1936 now, can't wait to have color photography to work with since that will go faster.

No play for me until it's done... anyway it's always better to start a big historical sim when bugs are fixed in the game and the master database

Hey Lans, no rush at all on this since the game just released. Sorry to be annoying and already request some new facegens, but would you be able to knock out a few of the older Tigers minor leaguers who will likely get some play in the big club this season?

No problem. To those that posted in the past couple days, I’ve been swamped by beta stuff but will post the facegens that I’d hoped to get the pack today individually here as per usual. At the moment I’m wrestling Steam as I have uploaded so many other mods, I am in a cool down period per their terms of service. Soon…

Thanks as always to you and the other contributors to this project! I'm in process of creating my list, and have already found a few facegens that I missed before, so my list is down from 339 to 333. I'd estimate about 1/3 of them are from one particular unlicensed league, which I will exclude therefrom, but the rest are mostly either Negro League, pre-NeL black baseball, or minor leaguers. I would ask whether retired players from the KBO are fair game as well before submitting any such list.

I have downloaded the new pack, and will check and see if any of my NeLers might have appeared. However, I will note that a request I made over Christmas, which may have gotten lost in the shuffle (80s infielder Chris Smith: smithch05 / smith-008chr), is still missing a facegen of any kind. No rush !

On behalf of all the fg creators, thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Some of the NeL'ers I did were just improvements to some that looked generically smooth and I tried to have them more in my style. I forget who made it in the last upload and who didn't now. But generally it's been people in the NeL mod. Luis Padron, Webster McDonald, Biz Mackey, etc. Folks like that. As for that "other" league, while I won't be able to post it here, I'd like to expand the NeL mod past integration by incorporating those players. They have Oh so many players that deserve to be in the game even if it's on some link you need to know the secret handshake on another site to get.

EDIT: And you don't have to wait three months if I missed someone!

As a newbie to 27, awesome job by all that created these facegen's. I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into it!

That said, I watched the video for installing and did everything specified, but I'm unable to recognize the new facegens in my game.

What I've done:

0) Renamed the existing fg_files folder to a backup folder;

1) Loaded the *.fg files into my d:\ootp27\data\fg_files folder;

2) In Game Settings->Facegen, I have the following pertinent settings:

a) Player Facegen Players -> All Players;

b) Enabled Loaded Facegen Photofit Files automatically;

c) Create Facegen Player Pictures -> On Demand;

d) Picture Search Mode -> Search for Photogen (Facegen) file first;

e) Enabled Away and Alternate Uniforms;

3) Executed Force Update / Generate All Player Pictures;

I've deleted and recreated a game, to no avail, as the default facegen's continue to show up, and none from your Facegen pack.

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but if anyone could enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it!

LansdowneSt, yes, the fictional ones that come with the base game.

The fictional ones are generated in the absence of a facegen file. Are you on Steam or Fast Spring?

I'm not on Steam, and I'm not sure what Fast Spring is. I purchased OOTP27 directly from the OOTP Developments website.

That's Fast Spring Okay, so go to the fg_files folder and tell me what is in there. To ensure you are in the right spot (you prob are but bear with me), go to the Settings tab on the Main Splash page for OOTP. Go to the Troubleshooting tab. Click the button to open folder containing customizable data, open the fg_files folder and tell me how may items are in there.

I have 50,272 items in the fg_files folder, inclusive of the readme file and a .jpg file that I threw in there.

Now, start a new game (I assume it is the current MLB year quickstart) and this time, first thing to do, before you look at any players, go to Game Settings>Facegen and turn it to "None" instead of "All players". That line refers to fictional players. I want to turn off all fictional player creation for now. Then look up Reggie Jackson or someone and tell me if they look like him.

Pardon my lack of experience using the game, but was unable to create a Quickstart game (Create button was ghosted). I'm creating a new standard game, and had to exit out due to length.


If I load an existing game, and switch the setting to "None", I still get the fictional pictures though.
