Whittenburg faced top-notch competition; losing to Ray Lampkin, Carlos Ortiz, Frankie Otero, Edwin Viruet, Sammy Goss, Beau Jaynes, Pedro Carrasco (in Spain), Bruno Arcari (In Italy) and Anthony Morodi (in South Africa). It is to his credit that he was only stopped three times given the opponents he faced and the traveling he did.

Zodda was a decent lightweight; from 1932 to 1935 he compiled a 20-9-0 record with nice wins over Johnny Bonito, Jimmy Casablanca, Jimmy Fantini, Patsey LaRocco, Abe Wasserman, Charley Gomer, Billy Humphries, Harry Oberman and Johnny Vestri. In August of 1935, Zodda drew with Joey Fernandez and then slowly descended to opponent status. He finished his career 4-24-5 but faced some of the toughest boxers around at his weight. He dropped bouts to Maxie Strub, Bushy Graham, Benny Bass, Tony Canzoneri, Steve Halaiko, Freddie Archer, Jimy Tygh, Tommy Spiegel, Lew Jenkins and Tippy Larkin. He also drew with George Zengaras and Wesley Ramey and beat Frankie Terranova. He was stopped seventeen times in 62 pro bouts.

Woods ran up a nice record in Texas and the American Southwest early in his career but fought the bulk of his career in the US Northwest and Western Canada. He beat Ralph Cervantes, Vince Bonomo, Rocky Randell, Carlos Chavez, Jimmy Savala, Armando Lopez, Henry Davis, George Dunn, Mario Trigo, Joe Lopes, Jackie Blair, Fabela Chavez, Joey Velez and Frankie Almond. He lost to Gustavo Vega, Lopes, Carlos Chavez, Jimmy Carter, Sandy Saddler, Lulu Perez, Willie Pep and Harold Dade. Woods was stopped once in 92 bouts, late in his career.
