Baby Cox
Yes this is the boxer Des Cox. I think i remember posting here before......... And yes he was playing sax......wow I would love to see more...he has two daughters......I am the youngest one let's call me 'baby cox'. I would love to see this picture or make a large copy for a gift for him........please contact me.
This is so interesting to read this about my father. I would love to find more pictures of him and know more. I lost his only scrap book when I went to art school as I was going to do a project....I managed to do the project but, lost the book. To this day I have always wanted to replace and make anther one for him.......He is still very much alive and doing well......still very much in the land of great stories and a life that has been lived..... I would appreciate any info or leads to any photographs or press and I am happy to answer any questions if possible..............although I may have to ask him if you all get a little nerdy about the details.... Baby Cox..... 'Sing like a bumble bee, stumble and tumble like a floozy flea"! ![]() |

Great to see your posts and getting to know you! I got information about Des from some old Boxing News magazines that I'd collected. That photo of Des playing the sax came from one of those magazines. I could make a scan of the whole photo and send it to you. I'm thinking I ran across at least one other photo of him. I'll go back through them and see what I find. I could if you like even scan what articles there were of his fights in the magazines. Would you like that? I always wondered why his career just all of a sudden seemed to end? Did he just decide boxing was not his life? Did he have an amatuer career before turning pro? Most boxers of course would. These Boxing News magazines also covered amatuer boxing and have run across photos and articles about some fighters as amatuers before they turned pro. Since I'd posted this photo I've since collected some earlier magazines that would probably cover when/if he fought as an amatuer and so I might look through them just for the wild chance there might be something there? I got interested in British boxing awhile back and the past 3 years have been collecting copies of the Boxing New from the 1960's to find out about more fighters from the UK for Title Bout. Great to hear from you. I'll look start looking back through the magazines to find the photos/articles and get back to you. Rocco Del Sesto |

Here's the full Photo of Des Cox playing in that band with the Sax. I found out something interesting. He apparently was a sparring partner with Henry Cooper for at least some period of time in 1968.
I found a couple other photos he was in. Nothing unfortunately boxing. Rocco |
