Another observation from last post -> When I mouse over a player on demand, it initially displays as a Grey background with no face, and then automatically flips to the fictional picture.

Sorry, the MLB Standard game is technically a Quickstart. Sorry for confusing you. An existing game requires a clear of the cache. Once the game decides there is a fictional pic, it stays with it unless forced to redo it. Keep it as "None" and leave the game and return to the Main OOTP page there. The splash page.

Go to the same place where the fg_files folder was and looked for the saved_games folder. There are a bunch of .lg folders in there - one is associated with your game. Go to that game's .lg file and delete the face.dat. Then load the game again. Then look up Reggie.

No problem, really appreciate this support.

So, I deleted the "faces.dat" in saved_folders, and kept the Setting to "None". Exited out and restarted game, and same issue, where a mouse over give me a grey background with no face, followed by an automatic switch to fictional face.

P.S. I'm using an "existing" Standard game. Due you want me to create one anew?

Whose face are we looking at for the example? You can try a new one by I'd have thought deleting the .dat would have cleared them all. Go to that guy and go to the Player editor and go to auto regenerate the pic. then go to Reggie Jackson or Manny Ramierez or Barry Bonds. They don't ship with the game and I want to know if it is reading the files in the folder correctly.

OK sorry, I am looking at Yankees and pitching staff. Max Fried didn't change when I re-generated the pic. Sorry, where do I go to get to another player like Reggie Jackson?

type his name in the upper right, it will find a retired version of him. The game will age him (unless you refresh him via the player editor) but you will still be able to recognize him.

Max Fried is likely a facegen of Max Fried.

Is it worth doing another Force Update/Generate All Player Pictures, with Setting set to "None" ???

That is a problem. That is not possible with "none" selected on the first line of the facegen options. It would show no facegen absent an .fg file.

Any of these different? Don't worry about the suits or the baseball cards. Those are just my preferences.

Those options should not be illuminated with "none" on

Only difference is the last 3 check boxes (all disabled):

- Free Agents wear suits
- Load play picture files
- Enable baseball cards

And the directory at the top of your fg_files looks exactly like mine and the number count at the bottom instead of being 6000+ is 50,000+

No subfolders?

Turn this one on "Load play picture files" Not everything is as well labeled to its purpose as it ought to be.

Once on, go to Reggie and player editor and Picture Functions and hit "auto-reload picture"

No! As per video (from 2025), my directory structure for where fg_files are, are in:

d:\OOTP\data\fg_files

Are you saying that fg_files directory should be right below OOTP root directory?

Where the file is depends on where you installed it. So, back to the Main Page of OOTP before you choose the type of game to play. Settings. Troubleshooting tab. Click the button for "open folder containing customizable data" and then the fg_files folder there.

I assume you didn't move the game post-installation. You just installed in on your D: drive?
