I pretend this 14-0 drumming by the Gnats does not matter, because there was hardly anybody on the field that will also be on the field on Thursday. Most of the players in the game did not have names on their uniforms, la-lala-lalaaa...

Although it was worrisome to see how blatantly Taijuan looked like utter arse.

Ready for the June Swoon early this year! DeGrom is toast and Scherzer has caught Metsitis.

I don't see a lot of improvement here. They added Marte and Canha, neither of whom are world-beaters, and subtracted Conforto. Cano will be taking up a roster spot. Diaz gets $10M so of course he must again be The Closer(tm). But boy the deck chairs look great facing the Lido Deck!

Doesn't Conforto now have his own shoulder thing? It's hard to find reliable info about 1B-level free agents in early April though.

I never got why Mark Canha was supposed to be the answer, either. But then again, Oakland, from over here, is a place I heard that exists, but I never really notice anything happen there...

I dunno, I didn't mean to suggest his absence was crippling but...I expected there to be more, they have to plan for redundancy with Nimmo so I figured between him, Canha, and Marte they could hold down 2 spots. I was glad to see Canha come but they still seem short an everyday OF to me. Unless they're just playing for "meaningful September games" as usual

Pete's never going to be a good fielder, but if we're going to cheer the grand slams we get to swallow the misplays especially when the ball is hit at him 17 times in one inning. Stupid math.

Maybe he should be DHing more when Dom is in the lineup though. Also, too much Robbie in general. Maybe he should also get time at 1B with Pete playing the nonposition.
