Game 11: Boston Americans vs. New York Highlanders
A nice way to close out the series, as pitcher Ralph Caldwell kept the home team in check with the Boston Americans (8-3) scoring a 5 to 1 victory over the New York Highlanders (5-6).
Boston pitcher Ralph Caldwell (3-0) had a fine game in which he allowed just 1 earned run on 5 hits and 2 walks in the 114-pitch outing; Game Score 73. Barney Wolfe (0-3) was tagged with the loss after he served up 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 6 walks in 6 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 35. Jack Taylor was called upon for 1 1/3 innings in which he allowed a harmless hit before turning the ball over to Christy Mathewson for a final scoreless inning of play. The Americans' bats were alive today, led by Jesse Hoffmeister (3 for 4, 2 Runs, RBI, Walk), Frank Chance (2 for 5, 3 RBIs), and Chick Stahl (2 for 3, Double, Run, 2 Walks). The Highlanders' limited offense was generated by Jimmy Bannon (1 for 2, Triple, Run, 2 Walks, Stolen Base). Bill "Doughnut Bill" Carrick (1-2) picked up the win today, as he permitted 1 unearned run on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batsman in his 10-inning, 134-pitch outing; Game Score 75. Jesse Tannehill (2-1) was burdened with the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 9 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 69. Game 13: Boston Americans vs. Chicago White Sox
A disappointing extra-innings loss that was a direct result of closer Jose Ramos failing to lock down the game. In this tight contest, the Chicago White Sox (6-7) bested the visiting Boston Americans (8-5) by a 7 to 6 score.
Picking up the win today was Charles "Chief" Bender who permitted 6 earned runs on 7 hits, 6 walks, and a hit batsman in the 10-inning performance; Game Score 51. The struggles of Noodles Hahn (1-3) continue, as he was tagged for 7 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits, 8 walks in 9 innings of play; Game Score 39. Jose Ramos (BS 1) permitted the 2 runners he inherited to score in the missed opportunity. Hahn's 8 walks set a Boston record for most allowed in an extra-innings game, and while the season is still young I am not liking what I am getting from Hahn's starts. Chicago's offense was powered by Sherry Magee (2 for 3, Run, 3 Walks), Harry Bay (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, 3 RBIs), and Ty Cobb (1 for 1, Double, 2 RBIs). Bill Lange (2 for 4, 2 Doubles, 3 Runs, Walk), Jesse Hoffmeister (1 for 3, Triple, 3 RBIs, Hit-by-Pitch), and Fred Clarke (2 for 4, Run, Walk) played well on the day. Player of the Game: Charles Bender American League Standings: 1 GB, 3rd Place

Game 14: Boston Americans vs. Chicago White Sox
A disastrous outing by Johnny Lush doomed Boston's chances to pick up a win. On the day, the Chicago White Sox (7-7) cruised to a 9 to 4 win over the visiting Boston Americans (8-6).
White Sox starter Fred Glade (2-2) picked up the win for his complete game work in which he permitted 4 runs (3 earned) on 12 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3 in his 149-pitch effort; Game Score 51. Boston starter Johnny Lush (2-2) was roughed up for 8 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in his 3 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 13. Sam Leever was called in to work the final 4 1/3 innings and did a decent job in that he allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk. Chicago's offense was fairly balanced, led by Lew Ritter (2 for 3, Double, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs, Stolen Base), Danny Hoffman (2 for 3, 2 Runs, Walk, 2 Stolen Bases), and Bill Clancy (1 for 4, Double, 2 RBIs). For the visiting team, Bill Lange (2 for 4, 2 Triples, Run, Walk) and Frank Chance (2 for 5, Double, Triple, 2 Runs, RBI) played well despite the loss. Player of the Game: Lew Ritter American League Standings: 2 GB, 3rd Place
