May 1st, 2021

W - 20 / L - 5 / 2.5 Game Lead

The month of April was good to the Rockies as they compiled a 20-5 record with as always excellent hitting and some decent pitching from their starters and incredible pitching from their bullpen who have a 1.69 ERA. Also of note Rockies CF Mike Trout at the age of 29 reached a milestone this month as he hit 300th home run of his career and has 7 on the season so far. The Rockie also put SS Steve Wallace on the 15 day dl with a strained hamstring and he is expected to miss 2-3 more weeks. Meanwhile Gordon Connelly will start in his place.

Rizzo has been on a tear since coming off the DL at the beginning of the season, he has hit .291/.354/.554 with 10 HR and 25 RBI.

Halfway there
July 1st, 2021

W - 56 / L - 17 / 8 game lead

June saw the Rockies host their first all star game at Coors Field since 1998 and they sent 5 players to the game this season.
  • SP Bryant Reed - 11-1 2.86 ERA
  • C Stryker Trahan - .318/.429/.525 11 HR 31 RBI
  • SS Steve Wallace - .338/.422/.727 17 HR 44 RBI
  • LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .310/.368/.599 21 HR 61 RBI
  • RF Rick Clark - .251/.338/.605 23 HR 51 RBI

Many people including fans criticized the Rockies decision to not resign Glenn Mackie and instead promote rookie Rick Clark to play in RF. While Mackie has had a great season so far in NY, Rookie Clark has matched him ever step of the way and is a better fielder and faster on the base paths. Both players are hitting right around a meager .250 which will improve, Mackie has 22 HR and Clark has 24 but Clark has scored 20 more runs thanks to his baserunning abilities. Also Clark has shown his better fielding as Mackie has a -9.5 URZ and Clark is +6.5. Clark right now looks like a front runner for the NL Rookie of the Year award.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - SS Steve Wallace - .342/.419/.829 12 HR 24 RBI
MLB Pitcher - SP Bryant Reed - 4-0 0.77 ERA 0.91 WHIP

AAA Hitter - RF Charlie Green - .310/.372/.592 6 HR 13 RBI
AAA Pitcher - SP Jesus Ortega - 3-0 1.59 ERA 1.09 WHIP

AA Hitter -C Cesar Nunez - .333/.368/.636 6 HR 14 RBI
AA Pitcher - RP Conan Cosgrove - 12.0 IP 1.50 ERA 1.08 WHIP

A Trade Deadline Shocker
August 1st, 2021

W - 78 / L - 24 / 13 Game Lead

Before we touch on the Rockies great month and continuing record season we need to announce a shocking trade the Rockies made at the beginning of the month. On July 2nd the Rockies traded 23 year old SP Bill Scott and 3 time all star 28 year old 2B Marco Hernandez to the Minnesota Twins for 24 year old 2B Jose Valdes. While this sounds like a crazy thing for the Rockies to do let's break down and analyze this trade. 2B Marco Hernandez's contract was set to expire at the end of this season and put him into free agency where he was rumored to be asking for more than $13,000,000 per season. In the last 2 seasons Hernandez has hit well below his early career average and was average defensively. SP Bill Scott has been below average for the Rockies with a career ERA just under 5. Also the Rockies were discussing a bullpen role for him as he lacks the stamina of a true innings eater at the back of the rotation pitching just 74 innings in 13 starts this season while other pitchers with the same amount of starts were well over 100 innings. In return the Rockies got Jose Valdes who at 24 years old has 5 years experience in the majors and a career average of .298 and OBP of .382, he also was among the top base stealers this season. Since coming to Colorado he has hit .376/.413/.425 and added 11 SB giving him 35 this season.

Another reason the Rockies were willing to trade Scott was 23 year old SP Willie Calhoun pitching phenomenally in AAA going 11-1 with a 2.00 ERA this season. Since being promoted into the 5th rotation spot he has gone 3-0 in 6 starts with a 2.10 ERA.

In other team news the Rockies went 22-7 in the month of July and saw some incredible performances by their players but none may have been better than Mike Trout getting back to back 5 hit games and a 2-3 night the next night.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - CF Mike Trout - .409/.492/.773 13 HR 36 RBI
MLB Pitcher - SP Carlos Peterson - 6-0 1.73 ERA 0.84 WHIP

AAA Hitter - 1B Bill Decker - .368/.495/.816 11 HR 26 RBI
AAA Pitcher - RP Bryan Wilson - 22.2 IP 1.99 ERA 1.24 WHIP

AA Hitter - RF Jesus Mendez - .418/.451/.866 7 HR 13 RBi
AA Pitcher - RP Roberto Carrillo - 14.1 IP 1.88 ERA 1.12 WHIP

September brings roster expansions
September 1st, 2021

W - 99 / L - 29 / 18 Game Lead

August brought another 20+ win month for the Rockies making it 4 out of 5 months and they have not had more than 7 losses in one month this year which has led to an incredible 99-29 record. Their .773 winning percentage is the best ever if they finish near it, the best for a full season no matter the # of games was the 1906 Chicago Cubs who had a winning percentage of .763.

Keep an eye on as well LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya had a monster month and heads into September with 50 home runs on the season. It would take a month with 12 home runs to reach the number of 62 which some still consider the record for Home Runs due to the steroid eras inflated #'s but it is possible as he had an incredible 16 HR this month.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .324/.372/.820 16 HR 36 RBI
MLB Pitcher - SP Willie Calhoun - 5-0 1.03 ERA 1.00 WHIP

AAA Hitter - RF Blake McKinney - .321/.419/.642 9 HR 23 RBI
AAA Pitcher - RP Roman Garcia - 12.2 IP 0.71 ERA 0.79 WHIP

AA Hitter - RF Aubrey Carney - .308/.379/.701 11 HR 30 RBI
AA Pitcher - RP John Jones - 17.1 IP 2.60 ERA 0.98 WHIP

What a regular season
October 5th, 2021

Final Record - W - 119 / L - 37

Where to begin? Well let's start with the Rockies winning 119 games this season, 3 better than the MLB record previously held by the 2001 Seattle Mariners and the 1906 Chicago Cubs. The same Chicago Cubs in 1906 had the best winning percentage ever at .763 when they went 116 - 36 was tied by the Rockies. If you want to get technical the Cubs were still barely better due to playing 4 games less their win percentage was .0003 percentage points.

Last month we spoke about LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya and his quest for a HR title and in the final game of the season Tsuchiya tied Roger Maris's old record with his 62nd home Run of the season. Speaking of Home Run #'s if you want to see impressive check out the Home Run Totals below when we list each players stats for the season. In other batting title news SS Steve Wallace had his first full season in replacement of Troy Tulowitzki and what did he do? He went and took the NL batting title with an average of .333 and OBP of .440 to include 38 home runs.

Last but definitely not least we want to point out SP Willie Calhoun. If you look back to 2017 when he was drafted in the first round by the Rockies out of high school we didn't know if he would end up a pitcher or a First Baseman. Well he ended up being a pitcher and was called up in July this year after Bill Scott was traded away. On the mound the kid called barnyard due to his size at 6'8" and 250 lbs was unbelievable going 12-0 with a 1.90 ERA in 17 starts. Even more frightening for opposing teams though is that this is a pitcher that can hit, this season in 35 total at bats Calhoun hit .314/.333/.429 with 1 HR and 2 RBI. What will this kid do next year.

Starters Stats for the Year
C - Stryker Trahan - 139 Games - .299/.386/.493 25 HR 71 RBI WAR 2.8

NL Divisional Series - Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Game 1 - Colorado wins 10-8
Game 1 of this series between the NL's top 2 teams saw Aces Maxwell Turner and Bryant Reed face off. Both pitchers started off well keeping the game scoreless until the 5th inning when the home team Rockies scored 4 but the Dodgers answered with 3 of their own in the 6th. Going into the bottom of the 7th each team had added one more to make it 5-4 but the Rockies exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 10-4. The Dodgers rallied with 4 runs in the 9th before closer Antonio Baez came in and shut the door to end the game.

Game 2 - Los Angeles wins 9-6
In Game 2 of the series the Dodgers jumped to an early 5-3 lead after 3 innings before the offenses got quiet until the 7th inning. The Dodgers added 2 runs in both the 7th and 8th innings while the Rockies got one to make it 9-4. The Rockies rallied though in the 9th and scored 2 runs but that was all they could muster and the series was tied at 1.

Game 3 - Los Angeles wins 6-3
Game 3 was a showdown between the Rockies Travis O'Bryan and the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw. Both pitchers pitched very well going 7 innings and giving up 2 runs each before the bullpens came on. It was the Rockies bullpen that was their undoing as they gave up 4 runs including 2 more given up by Rex Brothers giving him 6 runs given up in the playoff without recording an out. The Dodgers led the series 2 games to 1.

Game 4 - Colorado Wins 6-2
The Rockies had their backs against the wall and playing on the road they scored 2 in the 2nd inning to take a 2-0 lead. Rockies starter Evan Anderson was great keeping the Dodgers scoreless until he gave up a 2 run hr in the 7th inning. The Rockies rallied though in the top of the 8th when RP Kenley Jansen came in and gave up a 3 run home run to LF Yasukazu Tshuchiya and later a sac fly to RF Rick Clark. That inning made the difference as the Rockies tied the series at 2 a piece.

Game 5 - Colorado wins 6-4
Game 5 brought the series back to Colorado and the Rockies took advantage as they played some small ball in the first inning stealing bases and scoring 2 runs on singles. The Dodgers took the lead 3-2 though in the top of the 4th but it didn't last long as the Rockies tied it in the bottom of the inning with a Home Run from C Stryker Trahan. Then in the 5th the Rockies would score 3 more and their bullpen put the game out of reach.

The Rockies will take on the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS.

NLCS - Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves

Game 1 - Atlanta wins 8-2
The Atlanta Braves came into Colorado as the Underdogs but they didn't look the part in game 1 as they jumped all over SP Bryant Reed for the Rockies chasing him after just 3 innings and scoring 7 runs off the Cy Young winner last season. The Rockies bullpen came in and did well just giving up 1 run the rest of the way but the Rockies could not get to the Braves pitching as they managed to score just 2 runs.

Game 2 - Colorado wins 5-4 (10 innings)
The first half of Game 2 was a pitchers duel as neither team could get on the board. In the 6th inning both teams got 1 run each and the Braves would add 2 more in the 7th. Going into the bottom of the 9th the Rockies were still down 3-1. Closer Craig Kimbrel quickly got Rick Clark and pinch hitting Troy Tulowitki out to get the Rockies to their last out. 2B Jose Valdes was able to draw a walk though before SS Steve Wallace, down to his last strike at 0-2 smashed a 2 run Home Run to tie the game and send the game to extras. The Braves got a 2 out HR from Jamie Frew in the top of the 10th to put them back on top 4-3. In a surprising move the Braves left Craig Kimbrel out in the 10th and his tiredness showed as he gave up a single and issued 2 walks to quickly load the bases before he walked in the tying run. The Braves finally pulled Kimbrel but the damage had been done. Thomas Keeling was able to strike out Rick Clark but Rockies closer Antonio Baez came to bat and hit a game winning sac fly to tie the series at 1.

Game 3 - Colorado wins 6-4
The Rockies jumped out to an early lead and held on for the ride as they were up 6-1 after the 4th inning. A late rally though by the Braves as they scored 3 in the 7th and 8th as they tried to fight back. Closer Antonio Baez was able to come on in the 9th though and give up just one hit but shut down all others to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead in the series.

Game 4 - Atlanta wins 5-3
The Braves 2nd game at home in this series seemed much more comfortable as they got to Evan Anderson early as they scored 2 in the 2nd inning and 3 more in the 4th sending Anderson to the showers. The Rockies bullpen pitched well from there but again just like in game 1 Braves SP Trey Ball quieted the Rockies bats giving up 2 runs and 1 of them earned and even hitting a Home Run himself to help his team tie the series at 2.

Game 5 - Colorado wins 4-1
Game 5 was one more home game for the Braves and it was a pitchers duel early. The Rockies were able to get 1 run in the first before the Braves tied it in the 6th inning. Rockies SP Willie Calhoun pitched a great 7.2 innings and added a 1-3 night with an RBI single as well. The Rockies take the series lead 3-2 with a chance to advance to the World Series in front of their home crowd.

Game 6 - Colorado wins 7-2
The Rockies played well in game 6 as they were up 4-0 after the 4th inning. Rockies SP Bryant Reed had a much better game this time around as he pitched 8 innings and gave up just 1 run on 4 hits and 3 BB. The Rockies offense got a 2 run home run from CF Mike Trout and 2 home runs from RF Rick Clark to put away the Braves and advance to the World Series where they will face the Houston Astros who have swept both the Yankees and the Mariners and are a very hot team heading into the Series.

World Series 2021 - Colorado Rockies vs. Houston Astros

Game 1 - Colorado wins 2-0
The Rockies started Carlos Peterson in Game 1 since their lengthened series against Atlanta left their top 2 pitchers needing rest. Peterson stepped right in as he went 6 innings and gave up 4 hits before hitting the 100 pitch mark and stepping out. The Bullpen came on for 3 innings and didn't allow a base runner as the Rockies took game 1 with ease.

Game 2- Houston wins 6-3
Rockies SP Travis O'Bryan started well blanking the Astros through 4 innings as the Rockies took a 2-0 lead before the Astros scored 3 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to make it 4-1. They would add 2 more in the 8th to win game 2 and tie the series at 1.

Game 3 - Colorado Wins 13-8
While games 1 and 2 were pitchers duels for the most part game 3 saw a Rockies offensive explosion as the series headed back to Colorado. The Rockies jumped out front with 6 runs in the 1st inning and another in the 2nd. The Astros kept up though scoring 3 in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd and were able to tie it at 7 in the 4th with one more. The Rockies offense kept going though while their bullpen shut down the Astros to give the Rockies a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4 - Colorado Wins 6-5
Game 4 of the series pitted SP's Jose Cisnero of the Astros and Willie Calhoun of the Rockies against each other. The Rockies got to Cisnero first with 2 runs in the 3rd but the Astros with 4 runs over the next 2 innings to go up 4-2. The Rockies got 2 home runs in the 6th, a solo shot from Mike Trout and a 2 run home run from Anthony Rizzo to make it 5-4. Mike Trout added his 2nd of the game in the 8th inning to put the game away for the Rockies and give them a 3-1 series lead with a chance to close it out at home in game 5.

Game 5 - Colorado wins 8-7 (10 innings)
Both teams wanted to win game 5 and you could tell as both teams came out swinging as the Astros were leading 6-5 after just the 2nd inning. The Rockies added 2 more in the 5th inning to make it 7-6 in their favor and the bullpen was pitching great. In the top of the 9th the Astros had 1 on and 2 out against closer Antonio Baez. On a 3-2 pitch to Domingo Molina he swung and missed but the ball was missed by Trahan allowing Molina to go to first and the runner to move to 3rd. With runners on the corners a rare wild pitch by Baez allowed the Astros to tie it before he closed out the inning but the game was headed to extras as the Rockies couldn't score in the bottom of the 9th. The top of the 10th was a quick inning for the Astros. In the bottom of the 10th RF Rick Clark led off with a single and would eventually move to 3rd base where a sacrifice fly from Mike Trout allowed Rick Clark to beat the throw home and win it all for the Rockies.

MLB Awards and Offseason Preview
November 1st, 2021

First up? MLB regular season awards with multiple Rockies taking home honors and in some ways a big surprise as CF Mike Trout took home his 4th MVP Award and his second in a row. This initially comes as a surprise because teammate LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya hit 62 Home Runs this season but it was Trout's all around game that won him the award as he hit .324/.403/.615 with 50 HR and 131 RBI along with 137 runs scored and 24 Stolen Bases. He also was near the top of the league in zone rating with his tremendous range out there in center field which netted him a gold glove award again this year.

Also before the season the Rockies opted to not resign RF Glenn Mackie which was a surprise but they knew what they had waiting in the wings and that was RF Rick Clark who was selected as the NL Rookie of the Year. Clark hit .251/.353/.567 with 44 HR and 108 RBI.

Offseason and Spring Training Review
March 29th, 2022

The offseason for the Rockies was a fairly quiet one as they offered arbitration to all 4 players we mentioned in our preview with both starting pitchers winning their cases and being awarded over $6,000,000 each while the team won the cases with their relievers. The team also did not resign RP Charlie Furbush electing to go with someone from the AAA team although they may trade or sign for a reliever now that in spring training Rafael Aviles was injured and is expected to miss 5-6 months.

The one big thing of note for the Rockies was a trade involving 4 minor leaguers. The Rockies finalized a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays on the 25th of November that sent #13 overall prospect 22 year old SP Jesus Ortega and and 25 year old minor league SP Claudio Martinez to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rockies rotation is pretty well set and they still have a 20 year old phenom in AAA knocking at the door in Jorge Sanchez. In return the Rockies got 22 year old minor league 3B Raul Cruz who was ranked as the #19 prospect in baseball. They also received 23 year old minor league SP Andy Sine who is a groundball machine and was the #62 overall prospect.

Spring Training

The Rockies continued their hot play from last season this spring as they went 20-3 in the springs with multiple players doing well. Let's take a look at the projected roster.

What a start
May 1st, 2022

W - 20 / L - 3 / 9 Game Lead

It was a fantastic start to the season for the Rockies as they came out and won their first 13 game before losing their first game of the year. RP Rex Brothers did go out for 2 weeks during the first game of the year but recently made his return. Also of note at the beginning of the year the Rockies claimed RP Pedro Garcia off of waivers from the Minnesota Twins to replace Aviles who is out for 5-6 months. In 5 innings so far Garcia has given up 1 run and just 3 hits. The acquisition of Pedro Garcia gives the Rockies 3 Garcia's in the bullpen - Pedro, Roman, and Andres. We were very tempted to name LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya as he had a great month hitting .301/.363/.677 with 11 HR and 27 RBI but amazingly he did not get it... see below to find out who did.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - 2B Jose Valdes - .421/.486/.642 4 HR 12 RBI (19 Runs Scored (7 SB)
MLB Pitcher - SP Travis O'Bryan - 3-0 1.82 ERA 1.04 WHIP

AAA Hitter - CF Bob Miller - .322/.410/.621 7 HR 19 RBI
AAA Pitcher - SP Miguel Rivera - 2-1 2.59 ERA 1.44 WHIP

AA Hitter - 3B Rick Ames - .375/.452/.713 5 HR 19 RBI
AA Pitcher - RP Andrew Brown - 11.1 IP 0.00 ERA 0.97 WHIP

Wow..... Just Wow
June 1st, 2022

W - 43 / L - 9 / 13.5 Game Lead

The Rockies in the month of were just absolutely unbelievable even with a couple of key injuries. 1st the big injury was to SP Evan Anderson who tore a ligament in his elbow which ended his season and he MIGHT be back by spring training next year. Before the injury he was 4-1 this year with a 3.98 ERA. Then CF Mike Trout sprained his knee forcing him out about 4 weeks which 1-2 weeks are left on that timetable. To replace Anderson, Jorge Sanchez was promoted and went 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA.

What has been truly amazing though has been LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya who hit 62 Home Runs last year and looks to be aiming for more this year. After just 2 months this season he sits at 31 Home Runs, half of last seasons total in just over 1/3 the amount of games. To put it in perspective he has 31 HR and the second most in the majors is J. Riley of San Diego at 19, the same goes for his RBI's. Tsuchiya has 77 RBI's already, second in the majors is J. Frew of Atlanta with 51.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .354/.424/.882 20 HR 50 RBI (in May alone!!!!)
MLB Pitcher -SP Carlos Peterson - 4-0 2.52 ERA 1.07 WHIP

AAA Hitter - 2B Peter Paul - .295/.398/.600 7 HR 19 RBI
AAA Pitcher - RP Conan Cosgrove - 12.1 IP 2.19 ERA 1.14 WHIP

AA Hitter - CF Emery Hall - .308/.379/.444 3 HR 14 RBI
AA Pitcher - RP Gerald Little - 18.0 IP 1.50 ERA 1.11 WHIP

[CENTER]Rockies Dominate All-Star Game
July 1st, 2022

W - 59 / L - 15 / 17 Game Lead

The Rockies continue their incredible season losing just 15 games in the first half of the season with several players playing very well. We will start with the bad news though as the Rockies lost another player to the DL. RP Andres Garcia is expected to miss 7 more weeks with back spasms, he had pitched 37 innings this season with a 3.65 ERA. The good news is Jorge Sanchez who got called up to replace Evan Anderson as he went on the DL for the season has pitched well going 6-1 with a 2.47 ERA in 9 starts.

The good news is the incredible season LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya has had just continued through the month. We will continue to report on his season because he may be having the best season any player has ever had in the history of baseball. The 29 year old Japanese player has only taken one game off this season and in those 73 games has hit .335/.394/.799 with 44 HR! and 106 RBI's this season. Whether you consider Roger Maris's 62 HR (Tsuchiya matched it last year) or the 73 Barry Bonds hit in 2001 the true record both could be in danger of being broken this year if Tsuchiya continues on this level of hitting.

The Rockies also sent 7 players to the All Star Game this season where the Hitter combined to go 2 for 6 with 3 RBI's and their pitchers pitched 2 scoreless innings.

All Star Representatives
SP Travis O'Bryan - 10-1 2.17 ERA
SP Carlos Peterson - 8-1 3.29 ERA
C Stryker Trahan - .308/.390/.517 12 HR 45 RBI
1B Anthony Rizzo - .290/.412/.516 12 HR 43 RBI
2B Jose Valdes - .360/.459/.472 6 HR 26 RBI
SS Steve Wallace - .322/.416/.613 19 HR 48 RBI
LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .332/.392/.804 43 HR 104 RBI

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .344/.384/.806 13 HR 29 RBI
MLB Pitcher - RP Bill Crawford - 14.0 IP 1.29 ERA 0.86 WHIP

AAA Hitter - 1B Bill Decker - .389/.481/.800 10 HR 22 RBI
AAA Pitcher - RP Dexter Scott - 10.2 IP 1.69 ERA 1.69 WHIP

AA Hitter - 3B Donald Payne - .308/.425/.516 4 HR 16 RBI
AA Pitcher - SP Burt Allen - 3-1 2.40 ERA 0.97 WHIP

Worst month yet was still great
August 1st, 2022

W - 81 / L - 22 / 22.5 Game Lead

The Rockies lost more games this month than any month this year when they lost 7 games.... but they won 22 this month to offset those losses. During the month 3B Rosell Herrera fractured his wrist trying to dive and make a stop putting him out for 5 weeks. 3B Donald Payne was promoted to take his spot and has hit .344/.368/.531 with 2 HR and 10 RBI in 15 games.

The Tsuchiya watch saw him hit .324/.382/.676 with 11 more home runs giving him 55 HR with 2 months to go still and 36 more RBI's putting him at 142 for the season. Speaking of great hitting months check out SP Willie Calhoun who went 10-11 in the month with 1 HR and 2 RBI. Calhoun has hit .537 this season with 2 HR and 7 RBI while going 12-3 as a starter with a 3.62 ERA.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya - .324/.382/.676 11 HR 36 RBI
MLB Pitcher - RP Antonio Baez - 12.2 IP 0.71 ERA 0.71 WHIP

AAA Hitter - 2B Peter Paul - .306/.409/.561 7 HR 26 RBI
AAA Pitcher - RP Octavio Jimenez - 13.2 IP 0.00 ERA 1.24 WHIP

AA Hitter - CF Phil Townsley - .345/.487/.690 6 HR 17 RBI
AA Pitcher - SP Gabe Weaver - 4-1 2.97 ERA 1.17 WHIP

Can they beat their own record of 119 wins?
September 1st, 2022

W - 104 / L - 25 / 33 Game Lead

The Rockies had an incredible August as they went 23-3 to improve to 104 wins on the season already. Last season they set a MLB record with 119 wins, they have a chance to break that this year and all they need to do is win 16 of their final 27 games to reach 120 and it is definitely possible. This month also saw 3B Rosell Herrera return from the DL only to see Donald Payne stay in the starters role thanks to his play, it will be interesting to see who stays in that spot after the season.

In our monthly Tsuchiya watch he had a slow month hitting just .245 but still got 8 HR which put him at 63 overall for the season, he would need 10 home runs to tie Barry Bonds for most in MLB history steroids or not.

Top Team Performances

MLB Hitter - 2B Jose Valdes - .419/.515/.488 0 HR 13 RBI
MLB Pitcher - SP Willie Calhoun - 3-0 1.54 ERA 0.83 WHIP

AAA Hitter -1B Bill Decker - .286/.398/.541 8 HR 27 RBI
AAA Pitcher - SP Andy Sine - 4-0 3.05 ERA 1.11 WHIP

AA Hitter - CF Phil Townsley - .310/.437/.540 6 HR 20 RBI
AA Pitcher - RP Andrew Brown - 13.1 IP 2.03 ERA 1.43 WHIP

Regular Season Review : A 90+ year old record broken
October 4th, 2022

Final Record W - 123 / L - 33

As we pointed out last month the Rockies were within striking distance of their own wins record of 119 from last season and as you can see they definitely beat it. The record we want to talk about was set by LF Yaskazu Tsuchiya and it wasn't the all time HR record like we tracked all year. Tsuchiya did end up reaching 71 Home Runs, he was on pace when he averaged 13-14 Home Runs per month early in the season but hit just 16 during the last 2 months. What he did accomplish though was he broke the record of 191 RBI's in a season set by Hack Wilson in 1930, Tsuchiya ended the season with 193 RBI's. Congratulations to Yasukazu on the accomplishment. Tsuchiya now sits at 293 career home runs and when he reaches 300 he may not be the youngest but he could become the fastest as he has played 809 major league games, the fastest currently was Sammy Sosa who reached it in 1,052 games. Now on to the usual stats (with pitchers batting added)
