OOTP 2006 came after 6.5.

It was the first iteration with the new engine, and it was a real growing pain.

And like PT now, a total rewrite was the end of OOTP!!!

The growing pains were certainly there. Chicken Little and the "sky is falling" posts were all about how Markus was ruining OOTP. v2006 would be the end of a great game.

I think for Historical play, the change from OOTP16 to 17 was a pretty big one. If I'm not mistaken, 17 was the first version that didn't use the Lahman DB and instead used a DB created by Spritze. 17 was also the first version to offer historical minors.
