James Patton
James Patton, OF/P, is shown in the uniform of the Philadelphia Giants. This is the same player who is listed as E. Patton in the Negro Baseball Register by Dick Clark and Larry Lester and as unknown-first-name Patton by James Riley in his encyclopedia.

Rutledge Pearson
Rutledge Pearson was a first baseman for the 1952 Chicago American Giants according to The Negro Baseball Register by Dick Clark and Larry Lester. I've seen elsewhere that he played for the 1952 New York Black Yankees. As indicated by this cover from Jet Magazine, he was also a noted civil rights activist.

Ralph Johnson
Ralph "R. B." or "Big Cat" Johnson, SS/3B/OF, is shown as an older man in a Birmingham Black Barons uniform. According to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum website, he played for the Black Barons in 1950. The Negro Leagues Register, by Dick Clark and Larry Lester, has him playing for the Indianapolis Clowns and Kansas City Monarchs during the 1950-52 period.

Pedro Miro
Pedro Miro was a second baseman with the New York Cubans from 1945 to 1948. He is shown here on a Cuban baseball card. The uniform seems to be Cienfuegos. He did play for that team about that time.

Willie Mays - Birmingham 1948
This was already posted but I ran across a cleaner and sharper image of Willie Mays with the 1948 Birmingham Black Barons. Also included is a separate photo.
Both are from: T .H. Hayes Collection, Memphis and Shelby County Room, Memphis Public Library and Information Center |
