Finnegan had a stiffness in his groin. You'd think some lotion and a few minutes' privacy could take care of that… [/cheap joke]

Got a free ticket to see the Tigers tonight! I don’t care that it is against the lowly Sox. I love getting a chance (which are exceedingly rare nowadays) to catch a live game.

The play was rough, the night was beautiful though. Nice bounce back yesterday. We probably take Skubal for granted. It is hard to be as dominate as he is and it has just become expected. Is there ever a game he pitches where you think he is going to lose? Or even has a chance of losing?

Charlie Morton is on the mound today. He gives me Doyle Alexander vibes. Both look like they were washed up on shore earlier in the day and, for some reason, deposited on a pitcher's mound.

'Pitching chaos' was magical and cute last year. Not so much any more.

Your team is 20 games over .500, with a 8 1/2 game lead over the Guardians, going into tonight's action. Much as I have been trying to, I have not completely shaken my Yankees loyalty. Moreover, I have no reason to root for the Tigers (yet); my alternate team may be the Brewers at this time.
So, I am thinking that the Tigers could well afford to lose at least a couple of games of this series to the Yankees so that they can stay ahead of the Red Sox and maybe overtake the Blue Jays. How about it?

Why? You merely exposed the fact that the Yankees, despite their focus on relievers at the trading deadline, have a shaky bullpen from top to bottom. Plus, you have some nifty batters in your lineup.
Um, there's still time for that two-game gift that I was talking about.

I don't know if the Tigers are obviously better. Game one of the series seriously taxed the Yankees bullpen. I can't recall a game at the major league level where I saw that much inconsistency out of a bullpen in a single inning. It was a total anomaly. If that doesn't happen the series could easily be in a different spot. I'm still wondering why Boone called for that bunt in a 2-2 game with Judge coming up soon. However, from what I hear out of Yankees fans he makes a lot of questionable gut calls that leave the fan base in a rage.

I know this will be unpopular to talk about but how tone deaf are the Tigers to all of these misconduct situations. At this point they aren't even allegations, they are proven incidents and people have lost employment. Some (Lienert) have rebounded quickly and are already working in other organizations. Yet, some still work for the Tigers. Then you have the organization come out and say that the Athletic found nothing new and was just reporting on things they already took care of and their culture is fine. Don't bet on it. I know it doesn't matter because this city has deified the crooked Illitch family for years. I don't miss the fact that I am partially to blame because I'm tuning in each night to watch. It's frustrating.

(Yes, this is actually Bru's place to speak, I'm aware. But even from across the Whitestone, this looks very familiar.) |

Actually may be a strain in the left ribcage. Hopefully, something that can heal quickly. I assume that he will be shut down until the post-season, like Finnegan, and we can hope for the best.

Tigers have 12 games left in the season and are currently up on Clevo by 6.5 games. They have the Guards and the Braves at home before going to Cleveland and finishing in Boston. What do you need to see on this last homestand? On one hand it is hard to believe that there is still a pennant race in the central but here we are. I do think all of the pressure is still on Cleveland. They need a sweep. I'm thinking a 4-2 homestand wraps it up. A win tonight with Mize on the mound would be big. I'm still hoping they can secure that second bye. They could use it.
