Hudson Oliver
Hudson Oliver was a second baseman for the 1911 Brooklyn Royals. He was also known as a top-notch basketball player around Brooklyn. He displayed his talent for the Smart Set Athletic Club of Brooklyn, which is believed to be the first independent Afro-American basketball team. He is shown here in an unidentified basketball uniform. It may be that of Howard University.

Clarence Orme
Clarence Orme is not listed in either the Riley or the Clark/Lester books, but he was discovered through the blog of Gary Ashwill. Clarence played second base for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1920. He is shown here as an older man in a business suit. Photo courtesy of Stefanie Caruthers, who provided it to Gary Ashwill.

Leon Palmer
Leon Palmer, OF, is shown in a Louisville White Sox uniform. It's a small and indistinct shot of him, but I don't know if we're going to find anything better.

Leonard Mitchell
Leonard Mitchell, 2B, is shown in a Louisville White Sox uniform. Sorry about this being another small and blurry one, but it's the only shot I've found so far of Leonard Mitchell. There was a big auction of Leonard's personal memorabilia by his daughter a couple of years ago, but I missed it.

Willie Blackmore
Willie Blackmore, C, is shown in the uniform of the Birmingham Black Barons. This is the player who was listed in the Negro Baseball Register by Dick Clark and Larry Lester as unknown-first-name Blackmore. The caption to the 1951 Black Barons team photo provided his first name.

Roosevelt Lilly
Roosevelt Lilly, P, is shown in the uniform of the Birmingham Black Barons. Although Lilly is not listed in the registers of either the Riley or the Clark/Lester books, I found a newspaper article which indicated that he was a representative of the Black Barons on the League All-Star team in post-season exhibition play against the Roy Campanella All-Stars in October, 1951.
I also found evidence of his pitching in relief in a regular season game against the Indianapolis Clowns in September. He was also selected for the pitching staff of the East-West Classic All-Star Game of the Negro Leagues in Comiskey Park in August. |

John Henry Williams, UTIL, is shown in the Birmingham Black Barons uniform.
Credit to the Western Canada Baseball website for posting this team photo of the 1951 Black Barons, which allowed the finding of so many players from the Negro Leagues. |

Joe Reynolds
Joe Reynolds was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Stars in 1935. The attached photo was taken at the Detroit Tigers' 1999 commemorative ceremony for former Negro League players. It included former Detroit Stars plus former Negro Leaguers living in the Detroit area. Joe Reynolds would have to have been in his mid-80's at the time this photo was taken, if this was the same Joe Reynolds who pitched for the Stars in 1935.

Louis Dula
Louis Dula was a pitcher for the Cincinnati Tigers and Homestead Grays during the 1933-39 period. His uniform cap has an "H" on it in this photo. I believe that the Homestead Grays' cap had a "G" on it, so I'm not sure about this uniform.

Robert Wiggins
Robert "Bob" Wiggins was an outfielder who played for the Raleigh Tigers and Kansas City Monarchs in 1959 and 1960. He is shown here in an unidentified uniform. Update: The uniform is the Chicago Giants; for some strange reason, the identifying emblems have been removed in this shot.
