Edward Scott

Edward Scott is listed in the Negro Baseball Register of THE NEGRO LEAGUES BOOK, by Dick Clark and Larry Lester, as an officer of the Indianapolis Clowns from 1952 to 1955. He actually was a scout for the Clowns. As a scout, he was the man who discovered Hank Aaron in 1952. He is shown here wearing a Boston Red Sox cap, as he finally ended his baseball career with the Red Sox organization.

Townsend Tapley

Townsend Tapley played shortstop for the 1933 Akron Tyrites. I think the uniform in which the attached photo depicts him is the basketball uniform of the Pontiac (MI) High School.

Sam Taylor

Sam Taylor was a catcher with the Kansas City Monarchs and Indianapolis Clowns in the 1953-54 period. Looking over his shoulder are two gentlemen associated with the St. Louis Cardinals. That's former Pitcher Chris Carpenter on the left and former Third Baseman Ken Reitz on the right.

Charles "C. W." Thomas

Charles "C. W." Thomas, 1B/P/OF/3B, is shown in the uniform of the Philadelphia Giants. I'm using the name as listed in the Negro Baseball Register of THE NEGRO LEAGUES BOOK, edited by Dick Clark and Larry Lester. However, in Gary Ashwill's blog, where I found the photo, Gary argues that this is not the same Charles L. Thomas (friend of Branch Rickey) who graduated from Ohio Wesleyan. Gary simply refers to this player as C. Thomas.
