Columbus Vance
Columbus Vance was a pitcher for several Negro League teams during the 1927-34 period. The attached is of a player named Vance on a 1920's team named the Chicago Pullman Giants. The auction house which sold the team photo thought the player may be Columbus Vance, but was unable to verify the identity. So it would be well to continue to look for a verifiable photo of Columbus Vance.

Clarence Williams
One of the Negro League players named Clarence Williams was a pitcher/outfielder with the Baltimore Elite Giants and the Washington Black Senators during the 1938-40 period. The attached two photos MAY be of that player. They are of a man named Clarence Williams, and they were posted by his grandson. The grandson indicated that his maternal grandfather had played in the Negro Leagues during the 1930's, but he wasn't sure with which team or teams. The uniform on the left reads "B Giants."
This is another case where my recommendation is that we continue to look for a verifiable image of the subject player, i.e. Clarence Williams of the Baltimore Elite Giants and Washington Black Senators. |
