I am hitting seventh, as per usual.

We turned a Thompson - Priske - Klesko double play to end the top of the 1st.

I handled a Dave Clark grounder for the final out in the top of the 2nd.

I led off in the 3rd by reaching on an infield hit.
With one out, I went to 2nd on a sac bunt by Rick.
I was left there.

Lenny Dykstra led off the 4th with a home run.
I then took care of a Joe Oliver grounder for the 1st out.
With two out, Clark hit a solo homer.

Mets lead 2-0

We got one back in the bottom half when Bryce Bernadin scored on a Jerry Browne fielder's choice.

I led off the bottom of the 5th by grounding out to Bill Doran at 2nd.

In the 6th, Dykstra scored on an Oliver single.
I handled another Clark grounder for the 2nd out.

Mets lead 3-1

Bryan Hickerson relieved for us in the 7th.
I took care of a Wally Joyner grounder for the 2nd out behind him.

I came up in the bottom of the 7th with one out and Craig Grebeck on 1st.
I hit into a double play.

I handled a Dykstra grounder for the 1st out in the 8th.
Then I did the same to Oliver for the 2nd out.

Mark Ross took the ball for us in the 9th.
I caught a Dykstra liner for the 2nd out.

But then we couldn't score in the bottom half and we took the L.

We are back in last.

I went 1 for 3 with a single.

Then Chris Sabo was hit by a pitch, pushing Dave Clark across.
Lenny Dykstra walked, and Vaughn scored.
I caught a Joe Oliver pop (infield fly regardless), for the 2nd out.

I am hitting second today.

I came up in the 1st with Robby Thompson on 1st. I hit into a double play.

I came up the tinning with two out and John on 1st. I grounded out to Randy Velarde at short.

Giants lead 1-0

I took care of a Paul O'Neill grounder for the final out of the inning.

I then came up in the 6th with one out and Robby on 2nd. I grounded out to Velarde again.

In the bottom of the 6th, Chris Hoiles scored on a Velarde single.

Game tied 1-1

I took care of a Bret Barberie grounder for the last out in the 7th.

Mark Ross came in to pitch for us in the 8th.

I led off the top of the 9th, now facing Mitch Williams. I lined out to Tim Barker at 3rd.

Jeff Russell got the nod for the bottom half.

I took care of a tough Barker grounder for the 2nd out behind him.

I then handled another Barberie grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 10th.

We los due to an error. With two out Craig Grebeck threw a grounder away to allow Hoiles to stand on 1st. O'Neill then got an RBI double, giving the Cubs a walk off, 2-1 win.

We are cursed.

I didn't help, going 0 for 4.

After giving the game away yesterday, we have lost three in a row and are looking to turn things around in Wrigley.

Today the Cubs are pitching Greg Maddux (8-2, 3.18).

The Giants have Charlie Vinson Jr. (3-5, 2.82).

I am back to hitting seventh.

The Cubs struck early as Mark Grace crossed on a Paul O'Neill single in the bottom of the 1st.
Then Chris Hoiles scored on a Brian Jordan single.

Cubs lead 2-0

I came up with two out in the top of the 1st and flew out to Willie Murray in centre.

In the bottom half, Murray and Tim Barker scored on a Bret Barberie single.
With two out, Charlie walked O'Neill with the bases loaded, scoring Grace.
Travis Fryman then scored on a wild pitch.

Cubs lead 6-0

Pat Combs took over for us in the 3rd.
I made a great play on a Barker grounder for the 2nd out for him.

Grace led off the bottom of the 4th with a home run.
With two out, O'Neill doubled Hoiles home.
I took care of a Jordan grounder to end it.

Cubs lead 8-0

I came up with one out in the 5th. I walked.
Stolen base #25. (Iffy decision.)
I was left at 2nd.

Berberie hit a grounder to me... and I bungled it! Error!

Heathcliff Slocumb took over on the mound after that.

Two batters later, Hoiles hit a three-run home run (including MY run).

Cubs lead 11-0

I came up in the 7th with one out and pinch hitter Shawon Dunston on 1st. I walked again.
Maddux struck out the next two, stranding us.

Ted Power took the ball in the bottom of the inning.

He loaded them up, but got out of it.

With one out and one on in the 8th, Matt brought in Bryan Hickerson.

The game ended with me standing on deck.

We lost a tight one yesterday.
Today was a massacre.

I went 0 for 1 with two walks and an error.

We are on a four game losing streak and are the worst team in the HL.

That just isn't okay.

We finished at Wrigley today, with the Cubs pitching Randy Johnson (4-3, 3.03).

The Giants are going with Rod Nichols (0-5, 6.03).

I am hitting seventh.

I made a sharp play for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 2nd, leaping to snag a Brian Jordan liner.

I led off the 3rd by grounding out to Mark Grace at 1st.

I next came up with two out in the 5th. I flew out to Willie Murray in centre.

I dealt with a Jordan grounder for the final out in the 6th.

WIth a man on and two out in the 7th, Rod hit his limit. He pitched great but Matt went to Bryan HIckerson.

I came up in the 8th with Jerry Browne on 1st. I hit into a double play.

Alan Cockrell followed me with a home run.

Giants lead 1-0

Mark Ross took the ball for us in the bottom of the 8th.

We turned a Lewis - Priske - Lewis double play to get the first outs for him.

I took care of a Paul O'Neill grounder for the 3rd out.

Jeff Russell came into the 9th with the slimmest of margins.

With a man on 1st, I took care of a grounder from pinch hitter Ivan Rodriguez for the 2nd out.
Jeff got the last out and we had the 1-0 win!

I went 0 for 3.

Now we head to Pittsburgh.

WIth two out, Scott singled, scoring Craig. I ended at 3rd and Scott went to 2nd on the play at the plate.

That's two in a row. Going for three.

Today the Pirates are pitching Bill Kruger (3-2, 3.94).

The Giants have Rick Sutcliffe (1-4, 5.52).

I am hitting seventh.

We lost our scoreless streak right away when Dean Palmer crossed in the 1st, off a Steve Aarstrom single.
I caught a Sid Bream poo to end the inning.

Pirates lead 1-0

I came up in the 2nd with one out and Jerry Browne on 1st. I hit into a double play.

I handled a Palmer grounder for the final out in the 3rd.

I led off the 5th by taking a walk.
With one out and moved to 2nd on a sac bunt by Rick.
I was left on.

We turned a Lewis - Priske - Lewis double play in the bottom of the inning.

We had a 6th inning that was less common the last few days. Ruben Sierra scored on a Ryan Klesko double. Robby Thompson scored on a Craig Grebeck single. Ryan scored on a sac fly by Jerry.
I replaced Craig with a fielder's choice but was then caught stealing.

Giants lead 3-1

I caught a Lee Stevens pop for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 6th.

We turned a Priske - Thompson - Morris double play in the 7th, but Sid Bream scored on the play.

Giants lead 3-2

In the 8th, Robby tripled then scored on a sac fly by Ryan.
With two out, Craig on 3rd, and Jerry on 2nd, I came up. I singled, scoring Craig. Then Jerry scored and I went to 2nd on a throwing error by Kevin Bass.
I went to 3rd on an error by Palmer.
I was left there.

Giants lead 6-2

I made a great play on a Bip Roberts grounder to get the 1st out in the bottom of the 8th.

Rick ended up with the complete game win!

I went 1 for 3 with a single, a walk, two RBI and a caught stealing.

Three wins in a row!

We are going for a sweep in Pittsburgh!

The Pirates are pitching Willie Banks (2-2, 3.20).

The Giants have John Burkett (3-6, 2.91).

I am hitting seventh.

Ryan Klesko led off the 2nd with a home run.
I came up with one out and Craig Grebeck on 1st. I lined out to Steve Aastrom at 2nd.

Giants lead 1-0

I returned the favour and handed an Aastrom grounder for the 1st out in bottom half.

Later that frame, however, John Valentin scored on a Keen Bass single.
Then Bass scored on an Antonio Nellum single.

Pirates lead 2-1

We tied it back up in the top of the 3rd when Ruben Sierra crossed on a single by Ryan.

Game tied 2-2

I came up with one out in the 4th and lined a single into short right.
I went to 3rd on a Greg Myers single, but Greg was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
John walked but we were left on.

I caught a big foul pop by Dave Nilsson for the 1st out in the bottom of the 5th.

I came up in the 6th with one out and Jerry Browne on 1st. I hit another line drive single to right. Jerry went to 2nd.
We were stranded.

I came up in the 8th with two out and Bob Walk on the mound. I grounded out to Valentin at short.

I took care of a Dean Palmer grounder for the 1st out int he bottom of the 9th.

We broke the tie in the 10th when Ruben scored on a sac fly by Jerry.
I came up with two out and Craig and Ryan on 1st and 2nd. I grounded out.

Giants lead 3-2

Matt brought in Jeff Russell to close things out. I left the game with a double switch.

Because the thing you want on a one run game is to take out your multi-time gold glove winning SS.

As annoying as that was, Jeff got all three batters he faced and we got the win, the sweep, and our 4th victory in a row.

I went 2 for 5 with pair of singles.

We are now not alone in the basement as we have caught up to the Dodgers at 20-29.

The All-Star balloting update came out. I lead at SS. Jeff Russell is running 4th at RP.

Now we head to Shea to take on the Mets.

They loaded the bases with one out but were unable to score.

Astros lead 1-0

I came up in the 2nd with two out and Jerry Browne on 1st. I hit one through the right for a single, but Jerry was thrown out trying to go to 3rd.

We then turned a Thompson - Priske - Lewis double play to end the frame.

I came up in the 5th with one out and Jerry on 1st. I walked.

With two out, Charlie singled, scoring Jerry, but I got thrown out trying to go to 3rd.

The Astros opened the scoring int he 2nd when Daniel Williams crossed on a Derek Bell single.

Astros lead 1-0

I came up in the bottom of the 2nd with Craig Grebeck on 2nd and Jerry Browne on 1st. I walked, loading the bases.

Game tied 1-1

In the 3rd Ruben Sierra scored on a wild pitch, giving us the lead.

Giants lead 2-1

I came up with one out in the bottom of the 4th and lined a fastball into centre for a single.
Stolen base #31
I was left at 2nd.

I next came up with one out in the 6th and grounded out to Jay Bell at short.

The Astros evened it up in the 7th when pinch hitter Vince Coleman scored on a Bell single.

WIth one out and two on, Matt brought in Bryan Hickerson.

So after going 2 and 2 with Houston, we have the Reds coming to town for three, before we head to Houston!

At home to face the Reds. We have won two in a row.

The Reds are pitching Jim Abbott (2-5, 4.01).

The Giants have Rod Nichols (1-5, 4.76).

I am hitting seventh.

I took care of an Eric Davis grounder for the 3rd out in the 2nd.

The Reds got not eh board first in the 3rd, when Rafael Serra scored on a Carlos Baerga single.
We turned a Thompson - Priske - Lewis double play to end the frame.

Reds lead 1-0

I led off the bottom of the 3rd by outrunning an infield hit to 1st. I was our first base runner of the game.
And I blew it. I was thrown out trying to steal 2nd.

I next came up in the 5th, with Craig Grebeck on 2nd. I lined out to Serra at short.

We took the lead in the 6th when Robby Thompson and Ryan Klesko scored on a Jerry Browne triple!

Giants lead 2-1

After the first two batters in the 7th got on, Matt brought in Scott Service.
Mark McGwire scored on a Shawn Twillie sac fly.
I took care of a grounder by pinch hitter Brian Harper.

Game tied 2-2

I led off the bottom of the 7th, now facing Mark Guthrie. I grounded out to Baerga at short.

Shawon Dunston pinch hit for Rick and ended up reaching on an error by Paul Molitor, and then scoring on another error by Molitor.

Giants lead 3-2

Bryan Hickerson took the ball for us in the 8th. Aaron Morris took over for Mark Lewis at 1st in a double switch.

Mark Ross got the nod for the 9th, trying to shut it down for the save.

We are up to #16 on the Weekly Power Rankings and, more importantly, have passed the Padres so we are now in 4th in the NL West.

We have won three in a row and are feeling pretty good.

Today the Reds are pitching Frank Castillo (4-3, 2.95).

The Giants have Pat Combs (2-0, 3.97).

I am hitting seventh again.

I started a Priske - Thompson - Klesko double play in the 1st.

We were first on the board when Robby Thompson scored on a Ryan Klesko single in the bottom of the 1st.

Giants lead 1-0

The lead was short lived as Mark McGwire scored on a Shawn Twillie single in the top of the 2nd.

Game tied 1-1

I came up with one out in the bottom of the 2nd and flew out to Eric Davis in right.

We turned a Thompson - Priske - Klesko double play in the 3rd.
After that, though, Paul Molitor and McGwire scored on a Brian Harper single.

Reds lead 3-1

But we weren't going to take that lying down!

In the bottom of the 3rd, we tied it when Ruben Sierra and Bryce Bernadin scored on a double by Ryan, and then he scored on a single by Jerry Browne!

Giants lead 4-3

I took care of a Rafael Serra grounder for the 1st out in the 4th.

I then led off the bottom of the 4th by grounding out to Carlos Baerga at 2nd.

I made a great play on a Mariano Duncan grounder for the 1st out in the 5th.

We turned a Thompson - Priske - Klesko double play to round out the frame.

I came up in the 6th with one out and Craig Grebeck on 2nd. I was given an intentional walk.
I was erased when Greg Myers hit into a fielder's choice.
Craig scored on a pinch hit single by Mark Lewis.

Giants lead 5-3

Ted Power took the ball for us in the 7th.

With two out and a man on in the 8th, Matt brought in Jeff Russell.
A walk followed by two errors (by Jeff and Ryan), led to Harper scoring.
I dealt with a grounder by pinch hitter Glenn Braggs to leave the bags loaded.

Giants lead 5-4

I led off the bottom of the 8th, now facing Scott Terry. I struck out.
Greg Myers followed me with a home run.

Giants lead 6-4

Jeff got three outs in the 9th and we had our 4th straight victory!

I went 0 for 3 with a walk.

We are now tied with the Braves for 3rd in the West!

We are going for the sweep agains the Reds today.

They are pitching Mike Bielecki (4-2, 4.31).

The Giants have John Burkett (4-7, 2.99).

I am leading off!

(I miss that being my spot...)

The Reds opened the scoring in the top of the 1st when Carlos Baerga scored on a Paul Molitor double.

Reds lead 1-0

I led off the home side by grounding out to Mark McGwire at 1st.

Rafael Serra led off the 2nd with a home run.
Then Glenn Braggs scored on a Baerga single.
Baerga and Matt Nokes scored on a Molitor triple.
I caught a McGwire liner to stop the bleeding.

Reds lead 5-0

I led off the bottom of the 3rd by grounding out to Baerga at 2nd.

I came up next with one out int he 5th and took a four pitch walk.
I was picked off 1st and got caught in a rundown. I did not escape.

Scott Service took over for us in the 6th.

Things turned for us somewhat in the bottom of the 6th.

Bryce Bernadin led off with a single.
Ryan Klesko singled, with Bryce going to 3rd.
Jerry Browne singled, scoring Bryce.
Craig Grebeck walked, loading the bases.
Tim Naehring walked, scoring Ryan.
Rob Dibble relieved and then struck out Alan Cockrell and pinch hitter Shawon Dunston, but then I walked, scoring Jerry.

Reds lead 5-3

Heathcliff Slocumb took the ball for us in the 7th.

I caught a sky-high Molitor pop for the 1st out.

With two out and two on in the 8th, Matt brought in Bryan Hickerson.
I dealt with a Baerga grounder for the 3rd out.

Mark Ross took the ball for the 9th.
I took care of a Molitor grounder for the 2nd out.
McGwire followed that with a solo homer.

Reds lead 6-3

I led off the bottom of the 9th, facing Norm Charlton.
I lined out to Baerga.
Ruben Sierra ended up scoring on a single by Jerry, but that was it and we lost, 6-4.

I went 0 for 3 with two walks, an RBI, and a caught stealing.

Too bad we couldn't end our home stand with a win, because we are now heading to Houston.

We are in the Astrodome.

I like playing here, out of the sun.

The Astros are pitching Arthur Rhodes (5-5, 4.30).

The Giants are going with Charlie Vinson Jr. (4-6, 3.26).

I am hitting seventh.

I came up with two out in the 2nd and flew out to Harold Baines in left.

Baines then led off the bottom of the 2nd with a homer.

Astros lead 1-0

I caught a Feliz Jose liner to end the 4th.

I then led off the 5th by getting our first hit of the game - a single to right.
I was then thrown out trying to steal 2nd.

I handled a Rhodes grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 5th.
I did the same to Jay Bell for the 3rd.

I then took care of a John Olerud grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 6th.

I came up in the 7th with two out and Craig Grebeck on 1st. I walked.

Alan Cockrell singled, scoring Craig. Both Alan and I took the extra base.

Then Charlie hit a two run double!

Giants lead 3-1

With two out and two on in the bottom of the 7th, Matt went to Ted Power.
He got the 3rd out.

In the 8th we turned a Dunston - Priske - Dunston double play.

I came up in the 9th with Jerry Browne on 3rd, Craig on 1st, and Jeff Montgomery on the mound. I hit into a double play, but Jerry scored.

Giants lead 4-1

Jeff Russell came in to shut things down in the bottom of the 9th.
He gave up a two out walk, but that was it, and we had the win.

I went 1 for 3 with a single, a walk, a run scored, an unofficial RBI, and a caught stealing.

Another day under the Dome.

Today the Astros are pitching Victor Sanchez (9-3, 2.08).

The Giants have Rick Sutcliffe (2-4, 4.47).

I am hitting seventh.

The Astros struck first as Tony Phillips scored on a Roberto Alomar fielder's choice in the bottom of the 1st.
Then Jay Bell scored on a Harold Baines groundout.
Alomar scored on a Craig Biggio single.

Astros lead 3-0

I came up with two out in the 2nd and grounded out to John Olerud at 1st.

I next came up with two out in the 5th, now facing Mike Timlin. I walked.
Stolen base #33.
I was left at 2nd.

I handled a Phillips grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 5th.

But then Bell scored on an Alomar single.

Astros lead 4-0

Bryan Hickerson took the ball for us in the 6th.

He ended up walked pinch hitter Dave Gallagher with the bases loaded.
Then Phillips knocked Felix Jose and Daniel Williams in with a single.
Gallagher scored on a Bell double.

Matt had seen enough and brought in Scott Service with one out and two on.
Scott got the outs without giving up another run.

Astros lead 8-0

I led off the 8th, now facing Dave Righetti. I flew out to Baines in left.

We lost.

I went 0 for 2 with a walk and a stolen base.

I wasn't in short company as we only managed one hit as a team.

Ugly.
