By the way...
In consulting with Chad, and looking back at the older OL stuff, the situation with the Muse in bronze is a new one. There just won't be a crown with only one team qualifying. Sorry.

I didn't have any dad jokes left over. Have some leftover ribs, gonna pull the meat off and make BBQ tacos, but could have used some extra Dad jokes!

At the mid mark Highland sees action and jumps to the top with a 4-2 record. They have seven left, all vs. the woeful Coney Island Warriors so the have a chance to put pressure on the rest of the pack.
Cary came back to the pack a bit going 5-5 yesterday while Kansas made a move going 10-6 in OL play. PT Standings at the halfway point below. |

Rustlers Slip by Mundys
Terra Incognita grabbed a slim lead over Fairsmith Group stablemate Port Ruppert in OL S283, while Jefferson Valley closely stalked the pair in the current three-way chase for the crown. Perhaps only Hooterville has dug themselves too deep a hole, but the rest of OL will need to move soon to keep the gang of three in check.
In PT play, the Rustlers moved into first in the AC central, with Left Coast slipping to 4-1/2 down in the wild card race. Hooterville and K-Town are flirting with relegation. Port Ruppert and Waffletown own the two wild card spots in the NC, with Jefferson Valley 2-1/2 out. Norwood engineered a remarkable turn around, going 18-9, and have moved to within 5 of a playoff spot. |

Hidden Valley keeps the pedal to the metal in Gold
Hidden Valley and Bluffton continued their winning ways, pulling ahead of the pack in Gold. Can either be caught? |

Bombers have made a new addition after selling that Cupid Childs for 330k. They also sold 98 Lou Boudreau for 115k when he spiked in price cause of TOTD. I decided to build SE Jackie. So new additions to the team include Cristobal, Willie Wells and Martin DiHigo. Oh and SE Jackie Robinson!!
Cristobal will play in RF for now, Willie Wells is at SS, and Dihigo is backup OF and general utility guy. SE Jackie is at 2b. Also, I pulled this 100 Lou Boudreau on my main team, Topeka Defenders. They are a $100 team to get started, but have been F2P since. Anyways, I was the first sale, and took an offer of 850,000 PP for him to be sold, so rather than going for a 12 hour bid and risking more pulls of him, I took the guaranteed payday. Safe to say, it's be a good week for my teams.

Highland took 3 of 4 from Coney Island yesterday to remain atop the OL standings. The Raccoons have 3 OL games left which will be played today when they visit the Warriors in Coney Island. A sweep would put a lot of pressure on Cary to win a large chunk of their remaining OL games to catch them.
PT play hasnt seen much change the past few days Weston Pointe trails their division by 3 games and leads the WC in the AC. Cary holds the second WC with a 2 game lead on Kansas. In the NC Highland trails in the WC by a half game. Coney Island, Shinbone, Palolo and Brigadoon are just clear of the relegation zone. |

Port Ruppert Opens Up Lead in OL S283
The Mundys put a little space between themselves, the Rebels, and the Rustlers, but they face a stern test today, playing 15 of their remaining 18 OL games.
In PT play, only K-Town and Hooterville would seem to have extremely long odds for the playoffs. All other OL teams are within 4 games of the playoffs, or already hold spots. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 06-26-2020 at 06:01 AM. |

Hidden Valley steps on the gas in Gold
Hidden Valley put some distance between them and the rest of the pack, and the way they're playing, it looks like they won't be caught. Perhaps the other teams in Gold need a course in geography so they can find the Hidden Valley! |

The Diamond race may be over. Highland took 2 of 3 from the Warriors (why not everyone else does) to finish their slate of OL games. Cary has 14 games remaining and would have to win 13 of the 14 to surpass the Raccoons.
On a side note, I don't know if its just my imagination but some of luster in building a team seems to be missing in this version. I had four OL teams and my Coney Island team outside of OL last year and I had one repeat player, Martin Dihigo who was on two of my teams due to the number places you can plug him in. Now you go to the auction house and see the same players, lists of them over and over again. Although right now there are only 14 Ralph Kiners in the AH an all time low.... I am going to hang in for a bit but to be honest I am starting to get bored with it and am beginning to considering letting the teams go adrift in the next few weeks. |

![]() now from my old timey perspective, I gotta say I'm enjoying this version more than the previous two for the simple fact that there are a lot more 19th century players available than ever before.... definitely narrows the focus of who I can pick up in the AH, but that just means I have more time to save up points |

No repeaters
I don't repeat any of my players on my teams. Even Willie Mays was added to that stricture this year. If I feel I want to "trade" a player to one of the other teams, I make sure he's gone from the other roster before I acquire him. If it's a guy I pull, I jettison the other first. I have to admit, since my prime focus it get guys I like, I don't even take much notice whether they're an SE or whatever. I look at the name and the ratings. It wasn't until after I bought him that realized I had a Ralph Kiner that so many others have. What my Ralph Kiner has that they don't is memories. Memories of a Ron Hunt or Ray Charles on Kiner's Korner, holding the toy car model they were given for appearing. What I wouldn't give for one of those Dodge Dart 1/24 scale beauties!
I realize he became famous for his malapropisms as he got older, but he was a wonderful story teller in the early days with Bob Murphy and Lindsay Nelson. What a great crew! I still listen to old time baseball radio on the internet and they still sound terrific. I have to admit that sometimes sentiment gets in the way of an upgrade. I had a chance to replace Kiner with a '21 Babe Ruth, but just couldn't get myself to do it. Ah well, maybe the Bambino will someday end up on one of my other teams. The thing that keeps my interest up is my narrow focus on OL. I will admit that if not for that, I'd be playing FHM 6. PT success just doesn't seem important to me. In the seasons I've made the playoffs, I just let the team run. I don't bother with changing the rotation or lineups because I don't care that much about it. Besides, OOTP's strategy system makes it seem like you're only offering the AI suggestions, which seem often to be ignored. Now, put me in against another OL team... OL S283 Will be Settled Early
Jefferson Valley visits Glorious Mundy Stadium with a straight forward task - win three-in-a-row and take home the silver crown. While Port Ruppert has the easier path, they face the hottest team in the whole league, which just took three-of-four from them.
In PT play, the screen shot tells the story, with a good number of OL teams in contention. As stated above, the Rebels were on fire, going 22-6. Hooterville has escaped the relegation zone. |

Cary has its work cut out for them. 12 games remaining, win 11 and take home a crown or the Raccoons are the winners. The Southpaws have 3 vs Coney Island, 3 vs Kansas and 6 vs Palolo.
In PT play Weston Pointe is in a dead heat for the AC West lead. Cary holds the second wildcard with Kansas two behind them. Off a 10-16 August Highland has faded in the NC Wildcard trailing by 9.5 games. Coney Island is tied for the last relegation spot with Palolo one game and Brigadoon two games clear. |

My goodness, and I thought it was just a dream!!...and a bad one at that! My team is a top powerhouse in Bronze however, every time I get put into Silver, the baseball gods crucify me! ![]() For over 90% of this season, I have basically had two starting players playing with a batting average above .250! Everyone else couldn't hit a beach ball to save their life! Try this on for size. Joe Morgan .199 AVG Tris Speaker .183 AVG Jimmie Foxx .236 AVG Carl Yastrzemski .231 AVG Andre Dawson .243 AVG Mel Ott .215 AVG Clyde Barnhart .250 AVG Ernie Lombardi .287 AVG Bert Campaneris .240 AVG Unbelievable! I am highly considering fielding my team with T-ballers as they couldn't do any worse! Or could they? !! ![]() Needless to say, one more day of this and Hooterville will be sent back down to Bronze again! Last edited by Bottom Of The Sixth; 06-27-2020 at 09:24 AM. |

it's been that kind of season.... my hitless wonders are "leading" all 30 teams for the worst team average (.235 right now).... to be fair, my park dimensions were tweaked in the off season to hamper offensive production, so that's a big part of it... we'll be moving the bar back towards some offense for next season to keep searching for that sweet spot.... |
