An article I read credited Bilotta with bringing minor league baseball to Newark, NY in 1968. |

John Preston
A few months ago, Rlumpkin, you requested a photo of John Preston. I responded with the only image I had of him, which was pretty dreadful. Here is an upgraded version.
This shows Preston with the Castle Park High School Trojans of Chula Vista, California. John Preston would move up to become a non-roster invitee with the San Diego Padres in 1969. John Preston Register Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com |

Mike Brecht
kc501-502 is former Giants minor leaguer Mike Brecht
Brecht was a 13th round selection in 1981 by the Giants out of Central Michigan University....He moved fast in the Giants org. closing out his first season in the MIdwest League at Clinton going 5-4 with a 2.62 E.R.A in 11 starts with a 54/21 K/BB ratio in 72 innings. He pitched very well in his first full professional season with the Giants AA club at Shreveport going 10-5 with a 3.50 E.R.A in 34 games pitched (13 starts) while carrying a 103/47 K/BB ratio in 131 innings. He was named the Giants #9 prospect by Baseball America after the season. He was in camp with the Giants in 1983 but was re-assigned on March 15th. But, it looks like the injury bug hit him as he pitched in just one game in 1984 before closing out his career with 25 games for the White Sox AA squad at Great Falls in 1985. He was 1-3 with a 6.21 E.R.A in that final season with 30 K and 20 BB over 33 IP. |
