So we won yesterday, but we are still the worst team in the National League.

We are in St. Louis. Today the Cardinals are pitching Sergio Iglesias (11-7, 3.04).

The Giants have going with John Burkett (8-17, 3.26).

I am hitting seventh.

I came up with one out in the 2nd and struck out.

In the bottom half we turned a Lewis - Priske - Lewis double play.

We opened the scoring in the 3rd when John scored on a Ruben Sierra sac fly.

Giants lead 1-0

I came up in the 4th with one out and Jerry Browne on 2nd. I flew out to Lance Johnson in right.

In the 5th I started a Priske - Grebeck - Lewis double play.

The Cards evened it up in the 6th when Iglesias scored on a Johnson double.

Game tied 1-1

(Both runs scored by the respective pitchers.)

I came up with one out in the 7th and I worked a walk.
I was left at 1st.

In the 8th, Johnson scored on a single by Luis Gonzalez.
Then Terry Pendleton scored on a Bernie Williams single.

Cardinals lead 3-1

I came up in the 9th with one out, pinch hitter Aaron Morris on 1st, and Scott Lawrence pitching. I flew out to Gonzalez on left.

We did not score.

I went 0 for 3 with a walk.

I am afraid my dissatisfaction with our play as a unit is affecting my play as an individual. I need to change that.

Today the Cardinals are pitching Dave Fleming (8-15, 4.41).

The Giants have Al Leiter (1-2, 6.92).

I am hitting seventh.

We struck early as Ruben Sierra's 1st inning double was followed by an RBI single by Tim Naehring.

Giants lead 1-0

We turned a Grebeck - Priske - Lewis double play in the bottom of the 1st.

I took care of a Bernie Williams grounder for the 3rd out.

I came up in the 2nd with one out and I reached on an error to Terry Pendleton at 3rd.
I will take it.
Unfortunately we did not take advantage.

I handled a Pendleton grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 4th.

I then led off the 5th by turning on a slider and hitting sharply to left for a single.
I was thrown out trying to steal 2nd.

In the bottom half we turned a Leiter - Priske - Lewis double play off an attempted sac bunt!

In the 6th Antonio Martinez scored on a Jerry Browne single and then Ruben scored on a wild pitch when I was up.
Good thing, as I grounded out to end the frame.

Giants lead 3-0

I led off the 9th, now facing Jose Banderas. I popped out to catcher Tom Pagnozzi.

Matt tried to let Al get the complete game shutout, but after he gave up a hit to the first batter he faced int eh bottom of the 8th, the Skip brought in Jeff Russell.
He gave up the first Cards run as Luis Gonzalez scored on a Dave Winfield single.
Then pinch hitter Rafael Palmeiro scored on pinch hitter David Rivera's single.
Matt brought in Mark Ross with two out and the bases loaded. He got the last out and we won, 3-2.

I went 1 for 4 with a single, a reached-on-error, and a caught stealing.

We split the first two games in St. Louis and now we are trying to win the series.

Today the Cardinals are pitching Greg Harris (10-12, 4.07).

The Giants are going with Pat Combs (7-6, 3.39).

I am hitting sixth.

I came up with two out in the 2nd and I flew out to Luis Gonzalez in left.

We opened the scoring in the 3rd when Jason McFarlin scored on a Jerry Browne single. Then Pat scored on a passed ball.

Giants lead 2-0

In the bottom of the inning, Ruben Amaro scored on a Terry Pendleton double.

Giants lead 2-1

I came up with one out in the 4th - I have been as cold as ice - and reached on an infield single!
With two out I snagged stolen base #69. (nice.)
I then scored on a Timothy McKercher single.

Giants lead 3-1

I came up in the 6th with one out and Ryan Klesko on 2nd. I grounded out to Amaro at 2nd, but I advanced the runner.

He didn't score.

I took care of a Bernie William grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom half.

With a man on in the 7th, Matt brought in Mike Perez.

I came up in the 8th with two out and Craig Grebeck on 3rd. The pitcher was a 20-year old reliever named Pedro Martinez. He walked me.
Craig and I were left at the corners.

In the bottom of the inning, Amaro scored on a Gonzalez groundout.

Giants lead 3-2

Jeff Russell came in to close it out in the 9th.
He didn't.

With two out, Tom Pagnozzi scored on a single by pinch hitter, Bobby Smith.

Mark Ross came in after that to get the third out and send us to extras.

Game tied 3-3

I came up in the 10th with two out, Tim Naehring and Ryan Klesko on the corners, and Scott Lawrence pitching.

Lawrence threw over to 1st.
Changeup, fouled back. 0-1
Fastball, lined down the right field line, but curved into the stands. 0-2
Changeup, high. 1-2
Fastball, away. 2-2
Changeup, high and away. 3-2
Fastball, routine fly to left centre, caught by Williams.

Bryan Hickerson came in to pitch for us in the 11th.

In the top of the 12th, I came up with two out and the bases loaded. Hipolito Pichardo was pitching.
I doubled, scoring Tim, Ryan, and Craig!
I was left on.

Giants lead 6-3

Three batters later, we had the win.

Big, highlight reel day for me!

I went 2 for 5, with a double, a single, a walk, a run scored, THREE RBI and a stolen base.

Now we head home to face the Padres.

Giants lead 1-0

In the 4th, Tony Gwynn scored on a single by Kevin Castleberry.

Game tied 1-1

In the bottom half, Tim Naehring scored on a double by Craig Grebeck.

Craig scored on an error and then Jason scored on a single by Charlie.

Giants lead 4-1

In the 5th, Henry scored on a single by Hayes.
Hayes and Gwynn scored on a single by Orlando Merced.

Game tied 4-4

I came up with two out in the 6th and I grounded out back to the pitcher.

Mark Ross took the ball for us in the 8th.

I came up in the 9th with one out and Jerry Browne on 2nd. Stuart Rogers was pitching.
They gave me an intentional walk.
Then they gave Jesse Barfield an UNintentional walk to load the bases.
They got Jerry at the plate on a fielder's choice by pinch hitter Greg Myers.
Mark Lewis grounded out, and we left them loaded.

Bobby Thigpen relieved for us in the 10th.

The Pads took the lead right away when Junior Felix scored on a Merced double.

We were never losing until the 10th, but that is when it mattered. We lost.

I am hitting second.

John Olerud hit a solo home run in the top of the 1st.

We are in L.A. I am feeling refreshed after my day off.

Today the Dodgers are pitching Mark Langston (10-13, 2.50).

The Giants have Pat Combs (7-6, 3.30).

I am hitting third!

I came up in the top of the 1st with Mark Lewis on 2nd and Antonio Martinez on 1st. I punched a base hit to left to load the bases.
Phil Plantier robbed Tim Naehring of a Grand Slam but Mark scored on the sac fly.
Antonio scored and I went to 2nd on a two out single by Ryan Klesko.
Ryan and I were left on.

Giants lead 2-0

In the home half of the 1st, Chili Davis hit a solo home run.

Giants lead 2-1

I led off the 3rd by hitting a Langston fastball over the right field wall! HOME RUN! My second of the year!

Giants lead 3-1

I next came up in the 5th, with one out and Mark on 1st. While I was at the plate, Mark was thrown out trying to steal 2nd. I then walked.
Stolen base #72.
I was stranded at 2nd.

I took care of a Pat Listach grounder for the final out in the 5th.

In the 6th, Pat hit a three-run homer! PAT!!

Giants lead 6-1

I came up in the 7th with Antonio on 1st. Fernando Valenzuela was pitching. I flew out to Plantier in left.

I handled a Howard Johnson grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the inning.

Bryan Hickerson took the ball for us in the 8th.
I dealt with a Davis grounder for the 3rd out behind him.

I came up with two out in the 9th. Pedro Borbon was pitching. I walked for the second time.
I got no further.

Bryan threw his second perfect inning and we had the win.

I went 2 for 3 with a HOME RUN, a single, a walk, a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.

I was overshadowed by Pat, though.

I am still on a high after my homer yesterday.

Today the Dodgers are pitching Andy Ashby (0-1, 2.02).

The Giants are going with Charlie Vinson Jr. (8-13, 3.36).

I am hitting 5th.

I made a great play on a Kent Hrbek grounder for the final out in the 1st.

I came up in the 2nd with Ryan Klesko on 1st. While I was at the plate, Ryan went to 2nd on a wild pitch. Then I walked.
Ryan scored and I went to 2nd on a Tim Naehring single.
Jesse Barfield hit into a double play as I moved to 3rd.
I was stranded.

Giants lead 1-0

I took care of an Ashby grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 3rd.
Then I did the same to Pat Listach for the 3rd out.

Just like in the 2nd, I came up in the 4th with Ryan on 1st. This time I flew out to Chili Davis in left.

I handled another Ashby grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 5th.
But then Doug Descenz scored on a Listach single.

Game tied 1-1

In the 6th I came up yet again with Ryan on 1st and none out, but this time Ryan was lifted for a pinch runner, Jason McFarlin.
I singled to left and went to 3rd as they unsuccessfully tried to nail Jason at 3rd.
Jason scored on a sac fly by Tim.
With two out that gave Timothy McKercher an intentional walk. It worked, as they struck out Charlie.

Giants lead 2-1

Aaron Morris took over at 1st.

In the bottom of the inning, Gary Sheffield scored on a single by Davis.
Then Kent Hrbek scored on a Dascenzo single.
Davis, Dascenzo, and pinch hitter Paul Sorrento all scored on a bases-clearing double by Listach.

Matt brought in Mike Perez to pitch after that.
I handled a Phil Plantier grounder to end the inning.

Dodgers lead 6-2

I caught a Shawn Manuel liner for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 7th.

I came up with one out in the 8th. Jeff Parrett was pitching. I flew out to Dascenzo in centre.

Bobby Thigpen took the ball for us in the bottom of the 8th.

Listach hit one to me but I cut down pinch hitter Bernard Gilkey when he made an ill-advised attempt to go from 2nd to 3rd on a non-force.

We still lost.

I went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.

With one out and one on in the 9th, Jeff Russell came in to pitch with Alan Cockrell taking over behind the plate.
Two batters later, we had our sixth straight win.
