I find it hard to believe any player with 12 years of major league service would accept an outright assignment to the minors.
I know. Dumb post.

My waiver wire on opening day. This is just the first page. Mostly dregs. I've looked at 20+ players and found 2 that may be interesting. I can't see any that the waiving team would want to consider giving an extension. The best looking FA is a type B for whom the draft pick may be an improvement.

It may be a very rare instance where the AI wants to do this, but why are you so against it having the freedom to do so if it chooses? Afterall, the human can renegotiate with players who were on waivers at some point.

Oh I'm not. I've already posted that I want the block fixed. The disagreement in this thread has been about the actual disadvantage to the AI. In this case it can be clearly shown that the AI is attempting to get rid of players that are not of use and is trying to reduce its financial exposure to players that may be arbitration eligible and even those that are on auto renewal. There is no disadvantage. In fact the proper course for human and AI would be to sign cheaper younger and better upside players while reducing payroll slightly.

The very rare instances you seem so enthused about could be considered a bug in and of themselves. I think I'll make a note to check out any instances in v13.
