so many good suggestions here. I really hope FHM9 takes a few steps forward, several aspects of the game still need improvement and are becoming pretty stale.

I want them to fix little things that, put together, are annoying:


AI keeps playing too much my substitute goalie with 2,5 stars and put aside my main goalie who has 4,5 stars. And he has a normal stamina.

AI benching my best defenseman (only played 10 of 35 games/was not injured)

Farm team signing players so that many of my prospects are benched and cannot develop.

AI rejects systematically any long term contract proposition (like 7 years contract).

Underage (18-19) players who are signed by the NHL teams and cannot be sent back to Juniors, so they go in the AHL.

One thing that is a "nice to have": During draft, get recommandations from scouts, but not just from a list. More detailed recommandations.

To be honest, I think the implementation of budget feature - the way it works - was a bit a waste of development. I am disappointed with that version. Let's hope it will be better this year. I still love the game however.

As someone who plays mostly custom leagues my wishlist is.

- Add college leagues to custom leagues.

- Add college eligibility for junior leagues so if a player opts for some junior leagues they can't go to a college league.

- Add farm team editing for all leagues, not just the main league, after setup.

- When setting a league to a certain region, it should only create players from that region to play in that league. It's breaks the immersion having a WHL, OHL, QMJHL setup and having Ontario born players in the WHL and Alberta born players in the QMJHL and so on. Yes it can happen in real life but not to the extent it happens in game.

- Some sort of import team function would be great. I like starting in the early 1900's and growing leagues as I go and it can get time consuming adding each custom made team in every time. Even if it was just a quick file you could edit with names, place, starting colors, graphics and arena info that could be loaded in. That would be a huge gamechanger for me.

- Ability to change league values as time goes on, rather than just at setup, so we can have leagues that become top tier, only to fall off as time goes on and other leagues that can rise as time goes on.

- Ability to move teams between leagues. This could allow for league mergers.Even if it was just a merge leagues kind of function.

You know how we have that little chart that tells us how good a player is in a specific role? How about one for the whole team to tell us how effective a tactic will be with the players we got?

Separating the screens with larger amounts of info into pages seems like a great idea to help with load times for larger leagues. I think that would be a huge addition.

I put my idea to save/import team info into a graphic to better illustrate it.

Basically just being able to save a custom teams name, city, color, market size, starting fan loyalty, starting average attendance and arena info would be really nice. Logo isn't necessary as I can add the logo into the save folder before importing but if it's possible to save the logo and jerseys that would be nice too. Then when you want to import the team into another game you can quickly do so.

If you could save logos and jerseys along with it then you wouldn't have to have all those random graphics the game creates when you just click "add team" to add a new team as well.But even just the simple team information would be a really nice addition I think.

The ability to have cross-league tournaments and championships in custom AND historical modes.
Additionally, it would be nice to have players from the WHA have a shot at making the Hall of Fame in historical games, particularly ones where the league does not fold after 7 years.

I tried to go through the different suggestions and didn't see it, sorry if I missed it and someone else already said it but PLEASE give us a search for non-foreigner when we look for players. At the top of nationality just let us have the non-foreigner option.


It's already sort of there in the scoutreport you get every months, and maybe it's somewhere else in the game but I haven't found it.

In the player history screen it would be nice if it could include a 'transaction' message when a player is selected to represent their country in an international tournament squad (like an award/achievement). At present it only mentions if they won a medal.

‘Medals’ on player pages for Post Season All Star selections
All Star games in Historical mode
More variation in where players are drafted in historical mode; ie more busts andate round gems
Greater variation in contract options

I wanted to add my two cents:

First, I saw someone suggest scrapping the 2D game. That's the part that keeps me here, and the continued development keeps me coming back. I'd like to see more ways to interact with my team while they are on the ice.

As someone who likes to build fantasy leagues, I'd love to see the development team add promotion and relegation (I know it's been talked about a lot).

Also, one of my favorite features from OOTP is the random debut for historical players. It makes creating fantasy leagues a lot of fun.

Keep up the great work on the game, really enjoyed FHM8 and looking forward to 9!

Fear not, you're not alone. The 2D game is what brought me and keeps me here as well. And yes, I agree about more coaching interaction on the ice. I saw someone a while back suggest scrapping the on-ice player decisions, (whether to shoot or pass), and convert it into coaching adjustments instead. Food for thought.

Okay, I'm curious on a couple things here;

- Do you have your Farm Team set to play your prospects? If so, what level are your prospects? Are they 1/2 star? If so, they may need to go down a level.

- The AI doesn't automatically reject longer term contracts, but much like most of the NHL, top players are going to consider not locking in long term until they get to FA.

- What type of game are you in where that happens? Because in a Standard game it works fine up until they'd be overage year, in which case they go to the AHL.

I think national teams should have their own scouting system. I'm playing a journeyman save and currently doesn't have a club but managing a U20 team in the meantime, and it's difficult to choose a roster due to the lack of informations on the young players
