Smarter/Efficient AI and reworked Contract demands.
Just in this past offseason (2026) in my current save I had the following happen: Mikey Andersen (2.5/2.5*) that is a two-way defenseman that has a career high of 32 points sign with St. Louis for a 3yr/$5.4M deal while Cale Makar is on the market Speaking of Cale. There were a ton of teams with cap and budget space that could have made a move for him from July 1st(Wanted $12M) that did not make a move(no emails saying teams were offering him deals). Meanwhile I was able to sign him to a 5yr/$7M deal in late August. Jack Ahcan (2.5/2.5*) Offensive defenseman signed a 3yr/$4.47M Deal with Boston in mid-July. Too many prospects that were 3*+ were let go by their respective teams despite teams having gaps in those positions Jakub Skarek (4.5*) was a free agent until I commissioned signed him to Montreal who had the space (and future space) to sign him to a simple 3yr/$5M deal(Free agents do drop their demands which is nice) The AI's roster management leaves a LOT to be desired. I know AI is hard to program, but late game saves are rough. Trade Deadlines are still dead(save for a few minor deals. Teams in playoff positions should be chomping at the 1-yr rentals and teams in Rebuild (based on their ratings in the game from their owners) should be shopping the heck out of their expiring deals. Depth chart ranking is odd at times. Seen a couple 1.5* goalies being #1 goalie on some depth charts, meanwhile they have a 3*/4* potential goalie stewing in the AHL Defensive defenseman need some love as well. They get shafted by the AI's decisions due to low star ratings despite HIGH defensive ratings

I would like to see more players refuse contracts based on ice-time, role, team position & expectations, refusal for a rebuild, age vs window of opportunity for a cup run, players acquired or traded etc.... basically different factors or influences that will help they're decision or outright refuse to sign again.. A determining factor could also be clarifying his role before his decision is met, like if you promised him he's a top 6 player, you best trade someone to make room so he will accept that proposal and not get swindled to play third line or fourth line duty.
At the moment we can pretty much resign any player we want without repercussions.. This would certainly add a blend to one of the most important aspects of running any team, and that's getting your players under contract before they expire. Trade requests would also have a unique addition.... why would you sign and horde a skilled player that you really don't need just to stack your team and place him on the third or fourth line and expect him to play that way for much of his contract while only having him unhappy ? Yes because as I stated god forbid you don't get the spelling exactly correct, you also have to exit the game and reload every time you make a change. OOTPB has an in game uniform and logo editing system where you can load them directly through that makes it much easier when working through that.

Yeah Regenerate just keeps the same jersey that was there it never truly updates for me also the Team logos don't update automatically that way and for that I have to close and relaunch

Another CSV one, it would be great if the CSVs were just more usable - at the moment there are still character errors and multiple edits that need to be made for them to be read easily into something like Pandas.
A more specific request would be the ability export a draft class as a csv - or have an identifier such as 'draft_year' available in either the player_master or player_ratings csvs etc - people are trying to work on 3rd party apps to enhance the game experience but most have been shelved because of the current formatting of the CSVs and missing info etc. This would be a great add for 10! |

I get that coding AI is probably the hardest thing to do but a man can dream... As it stands now the game is too damn easy. I can literally take any team and within 3 seasons create a juggernaut that will win the cup every season. |

This is one that I've just thought of that I cannot believe isn't already in the game......
Display a players financial demand on the main free agency screen - having to go into each players individual negotiations (which you then cannot break off without pissing the player off) is incredibly tedious. Also if you've reached the end of pre-season and still have a bit of cap to spare and want to comb through the remaining pool it takes HOURS to find guys who want a min sal deal. |

Please can we get rid of all the interminable return from injury messages (especially when there are no games scheduled):
Player X (is) 'Back sooner rather than later" *Can play if you need me..." "Ready for more drills" "Ready for (full) contact" "Ready to resume skating" "Ready to return to practice" "Ahead of Schedule" "Not far from returning" "on the edge of returning" "within sight of returning" "close to returning" "getting closer to returning" "on the brink of returning" "Primed to return" "Almost Ready" "Back Soon" "recovered already" "says he's ready" "says put me in" "ready already" "is ready to go" "Almost 100%" "All systems go" "says "I am ready to play"" "is champing at the bit" "Is Back" The last one is all that is required, when he's available to play again! Edit : I generally use the lineups feature, so unless he has to go on the injury list, I almost don't care that he's injured at all. It's something minor, but because I play mostly historical, it would be nice to see trophies to start being awarded when they did historically and not having Gordie How win the Mark Messier Leadership Award or Maurice Richard win the Rocket Richard Trophy.

I want to be able to decide the length of the season in custom leagues, not how many games but how many weeks the season should last. Of course, there would be a minimum number of weeks based on the number of games

This would be a huge pain, but can't you do this by exporting the schedule, editing to your heart's content, and then saving and importing your new schedule?

I'd love to see an in-game schedule editor. Right now, exporting and importing have to be done on july 1st. If you make a mistake it'll crash the program, and you can't tell until the game plays through a couple months of off season, months that save the game beyond teh point where you can edit the schedule. You can really destroy your game with the current set up.
