Cards news: Sept. 26 -- 2B Boston Baro's season is over with strained hamstring
The St. Louis Cardinals may be headed back to the playoffs, but they'll do so without two of their best players as they have learned that second baseman Boston Baro will miss at least six weeks with a strained hamstring.
Baro, 24, suffered the injury while running the bases in the ninth inning of a 4-3 11-inning win over the Cleveland Indians on Sept. 24. Baro joins outfielder Lawrence Butler on the team's injured list. Butler is out for at least five more weeks with a herniated disc in his back suffered on Sept. 6. Baro and Butler rank first and third on the team in terms of WAR, 4.9 and 3.5 respectively. They are first and third in RBIs, with Butler at 75 and Baro at 72. Baro made the All-Star team for the first time this year. He also leads National League second baseman in most offensive statistics. Last edited by rink23; 08-18-2025 at 06:15 AM. |

MLB news: Sept. 26 -- Orioles clinch third consecutive AL East title
With a 7-0 victory over the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Orioles clinched their third consecutive American League East Division championship.
The Orioles (96-61) lead the Boston Red Sox by 5.5 games in the division race with five games left in the regular season. The victory also assured Baltimore home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs as the Red Sox own the league's second-best record. Only the National League's Atlanta Braves boast a better mark than the Orioles. The Braves sit atop the National League East Division at 98-59 and have already clinched home-field advantage for the entire postseason. The playoff berth is Baltimore's third in a row and fifth in the last season seasons. The Orioles, however, have not reached the World Series since 1983 when they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. |
