St Louis Shires 2034 Season --- End of August Update ...

Quote:
Isais Chavez has another solid month with a .779 OPS, as he takes over more of the catching duties.

William Contreras has fallen off quite a bit, but is still effective in starts vs LHP.
Quote:
1B Steve Baker leads the way with a .996 OPS as he looks to enter the MVP race with solid batting numbers, and leading the West in WPA.

2B Adael Amador has his best month of the season with a .773 OPS to go with his stellar defense.

SS Jayden Kellam had a decent month, .669 OPS.

3B Eric Leonard once again tops the Shires leaderboard, along with Baker. The hot corner dweller blasted 50 TB in the month, leading to an .862 OPS

-----------------------------

Rookie Tim Norberg finally found his groove with a .775 OPS serving as the team's backup middle IF and starting 2B vs LHP, as well as, late game PH.

1B/DH Jason Avitabile has a horrible August, spending the entire month on a cold streak and seeing Norberg take some of his AB at DH.
Quote:
LF Nelson Rada has a .792 OPS month, as he moves over to LF to make room for the returning Jackson Merrill.

CF Jackson Merrill struggled in his 1st week back from the IL.

RF Robert Arias .534 OPS, had his worst month of the season, but the trio of Rada, Merrill, and Arias provides StL with one of the best defensive outfields in NABO.

DH Kemp Alderman dipped quite a bit with a .706 OPS in August, but he did hit 5 more HR (4th in the West) to go with 17 RBI.

---------------------------

OF Wilson Esparza contributed a .748 OPS when he was able to get on the field. The rookie, along with Rivera, have helped the Shires get through the period where Merrill, Blair, and DeLauter were on the IL at the same time.

OF Juan Rivera filled in for injured outfielders with a .651 OPS.

OF Alec Blair returned from injury and struggled in limited playing time in a crowded outfield.

St Louis Shires 2034 Season --- End of August Update ...

Quote:
Joel Lara continues to be the leader for the CYA in the West despite putting up his first average month in the season. He allowed all 3 HR in one start against KC, all solo shots.

Tony Cruz pitched very well in August, but suffered from low run support. Cruz should finish in the 5-10 range for CYA.

Josue Calderon continues to be disappointing with allowing the longball, particularly with men on base. At this point, Calderon is pitching to earn his way into the 4-man postseason starting rotation.

Sam Aldegheri, the veteran lefty, keeps improving his production as the season goes on.

Nate Berardi
walks too many, gives up the longball, but pitches out of many jams due to his ability to induce groundballs, often resulting in a DP, and minimizing potential damage.

Quote:
Evan Bailey continues to struggle in production and injuries. He's getting hit all over the ballpark, but has reduced his HRA.

Silvano Carnini had another pretty good month despite high walk totals. The rookie has been solid all year for the Shires.

Dave Ponder was bitten by the HRA bug, allowing 3 bombs in just 10 IP.

Nick Gwyn also ran into some difficulty, allowing 4 HR in 16 IP. The young lefty leads all RP in IP, and can hopefully get back to not allowing HR while keeping his K rate high.
Quote:
Ankiely Feliz put up his worst month of the season, allowing 9 BB in 9 IP. The veteran setup man is likely entering September as his last regular season month with StL. He's a FA at the end of the season and seeing a multi-year deal at 14M/y.

Reiner Lopez Had a great August serving as the team's main setup guy.

Dan McGinnis had another great month in his 1st season as closer. 1-0, 8 saves.
