More Cleveland
Hank Greenberg put the great team together. The Indians would have continued to be excellent if he hadn't been dumped.

Cubs
Baumholtz, Brickhouse, Wrigley, Jackson, Smalley.
Never understood why Wrigley was so beloved in Chicago. He never even tried to win. Last edited by ortforshort; 03-15-2015 at 07:21 AM. |

More Giants
Despite Horace Stoneham's presence, the Giants managed to win.
I included Walter O'Malley because, without him, the Giants would still be in New York Last edited by ortforshort; 03-15-2015 at 07:21 AM. |

Phillies
Herb Pennock built the Phillies 1950 champs, but the team took a nosedive when the owner's son, Bob Carpenter, took over after Pennock died suddenly.

Pirates
Branch Rickey built the foundation for the Pirates 1960 World Champs, altho' he was long gone by then. Everyone thought it was his only baseball failure as an executive, but they weren't patient enough.

Nice pics and nice cards. Many thanks for these !! Would it be possible to post these players pics without the templates: Avila, Fox, Newhouser, Kuenn 53T, Musial 52T, Rhodes and Ennis. Thanks in advance.

Cincinnati Reds
Powel Crosley was the American entrepreneur incarnate. He made radios. To sell the radios, he created a national radio station to get people to want to buy the radios. Then he bought the Reds and broadcast their games to get content for the radio station so that people would buy the radios. He did that with lots of stuff. Very impressive guy.
Not only was Waite Hoyt a great pitcher. He was a great radio announcer. It was said that people listening to the games would hope it would rain so that they could hear his baseball stories (many about Babe Ruth) during the rain delays. Albums were made of his stories. That reminds me, I should look into getting one. Last edited by ortforshort; 03-15-2015 at 07:20 AM. |

Washington
Clark Griffith was a great pitcher who ended up owning the Senators. When he was younger. they were good. Later on, when he lost his competitive edge, they were not so good.
