Pookie Wilson
The SeaDog with a hot dog. This is Pookie Wilson, not Mookie Wilson.
Am posting this simply because I rather liked the pose. It comes from Pookie's 1997 Best Portland SeaDogs baseball card. Outfielder Pookie Wilson was a non-roster invitee with the 1995 Marlins as a replacement player. Pookie Wilson Minor Leagues Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com |

Scott Christopher
I try to find photos of every player in my current OOTP season. I just completed 1976 and am moving onto 1977....In my searches I, often, come across great information about these players. I thought this player was perfect to talk about on here.
Scott Christopher, a former Baltimore Orioles farmhand, who Cal Ripken said in an interview was one of the fastest players he ever played with while also saying “He understood the joys of life beyond most of us,” Ripken said. “He was a free spirit.” It really is a very cool article if you have time to read...Anyway, Christopher went from a young boy who almost lost his right hand in a freak accident to a budding star at the University of Maryland. He played minor league ball with the Orioles stealing 93 bases in 325 games between 1977 and 1980. He hit .265 in his career with a .328 OBP reaching as high as AA ball. But, during his time in the minor leagues he began to be known as an artist and today he is known as shooting, arguably, the best single best portrait of Michael Jackson. He is a very accomplished painter and photographer living in Santa Fe... I, also, found it very interesting, how genuine of a person he seems to be. We all know the story of Drungo Hazewood who wore the can't miss label as a prospect. When Hazewood died he left 7 children and had very little money. Christopher paid for the funeral and raised money for the family by organizing former teammates to help the cause. Some players that can't be found through minors or major uni's I search for them through high school or college yearbooks. some high school yearbooks I can't get into. the project that I am working on is Padres majors minors or draft picks that didn't sign from 1968-71. the high school yearbook that I can't get into is 1967 Galena Park high school for Herman Robinson. Thanks to your response.

Harry Minor
Harry Minor appeared as a catcher on the 1954 Athletics spring roster. During his minor league career, which spanned the period of 1947 through 1960, he also played first base and the outfield.
Harry was best known as a long-time scout for the New York Mets. He died three days ago. The photo is from the Wellsville (NY) Daily Reporter of April 30, 1960. It shows him in the uniform of the Wellsville Braves, for whom he managed and played first base. Harry Minor Minor Leagues Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com |

George Kazmarek
The Vault, a long time back, spit out a couple of small and out-of-focus pics of this Mets prospect. Today, we get a good one or two of Kaz. Yet another failed first round draft pick for the Mets (and 2nd overall)--albeit from the January (1968) draft. Kaz had a breakout season with Visalia in 1970 and held his own at AA Memphis, but never got beyond Triple-A in his 7-year career. And people wonder why the Mets always draft pitchers #1. Isn't it obvious? The hitters never pan out.

Tim Kammeyer
Tim Kammeyer was the Angels 12th round pick in 1981 out of USC. Tim had previously been drafted by the White Sox in the 4th round of the 1979 (January) draft out of Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA and again in the 8th round of the 1980 draft by the Mariners out of USC.
Tim pitched for the Angles organization from 1981-84 finishing his career with a 31-34 record and a 4.03 E.R.A in 88 games (86 GS) with a 450/267 K/BB ratio in 538 IP. He reached AA ball in 1984 pitching for Waterbury going 7-12 with a 6.32 E.R.A. I believe this is what Tim does now |
