robc, the problem, if I'm not mistaken, is that the era_ballparks file uses different stadium names than silvam uses. The names in the era_ballparks file match the ballpark mod Garlon created for OOTP21. Garlon took silvam's parks and edited the file names, eliminating the extensions (e.g., v1.4 or whatever). Hopefully, Garlon will update the mod for OOTP22 and make it available through Steam Workshop.

By the way, robc, I still use your OOTP Tool to examine replay results. Still works great!

Ahh, OK thanks. Until then, if I manually load the 3D models for each park then is it all good? It doesn't take that long. Will my park factors be OK?

I'm not sure. I guess you could compare the park factors for a stadium after you manually load it. See if they match the factors in the era_ballparks file.

Top my knowledge, most of those files should come over with no issues

Did it ship with OOTP 21 or is it found elsewhere? I have the Steam version of 21. It's not too bad manually loading the stadium models. Did the park factors change with OOTP 22?

Do not use the old era_ballparks file. The new one that comes with the game has a new format and it automatically will support the silvam stadium mod from the workshop from OOTP21 if you downloaded the complete collection. You can copy the ballparks over from the OOTP21 folder and they should work fine.

Garlon, since you uploaded the stadium mod to the OOTP21 Workshop last year, silvam has tweaked many, if not most, of the stadiums. Unless I'm mistaken, your mod does not include these updates, correct?

I forgot to strip off the _v1_4 at the end of the ballpark model folder names so that is probably my problem. I looked at the era_ballpark file and it looks like the stadium names have a line break after the first year of the stadium name, for example "Tiger Stadium 1948-". Does the game just ignore any line break characters?

IIRC, you'll need to examine the file names closely. Sometimes, there are slight differences between silvam's file name and Garlon's file name. Even an underscore instead of a hyphen can cause a problem.

Silvam has made updates to most of the stadiums. The pitching mounds in OOTP are actually flat, but Silvam originally made them as real pitching mounds, so he went in and made them all flat. There were other updates to various stadiums too. I have not compiled any of that though.
The file naming conventions are very important. I need to take a look to see if the "prk" files need to be remade if a new stadium model is swapped into the game. I may release the old version of the mod and then we can see about updating the entire thing with the most recent versions. |

I downloaded Silvam's newest models from his mediafire link and the folder and model names use '_' between words while the era_ballpark file uses spaces. I take it that for the ballpark models to work automatically I to change the folder and file names to use spaces instead of underscores, along with stripping off the _v1.4?

Thank you, Garlon.
It might be wise for silvam to change his file names to match yours. (I hate to make more work for him, though.) Otherwise, we'll find ourselves in this same predicament each time he modifies his parks. |

OK, I'm confused (it doesn't take much)...
Silvam's ballpark files use the same naming convention using '_' in the OOTP 21 mod and that era_ballpark file still uses space characters instead of '_'. Does that mean it will work with this difference or didn't the automatic 3D stadium usage work in 21 either, or maybe one of the naming conventions was changes after release? I stripped off the _v1.4, so maybe I'll just create another league and see if it works. Last edited by robc; 03-27-2021 at 10:43 AM. |

Last year, Garlon created a special era_ballparks file to match his mod. It replaced the original era_ballparks file that came with OOTP21. But you had to download his mod to get it.
This year, OOTP22 comes with Garlon's era_ballparks file. It is the default. So, you need his ballpark mod (the one with the edited file names). If you download the ballpark files from silvam's site, the file names will not match the names in the OOTP22 era_ballparks file. |

I don't know if this is something I can fix to work automatically, or maybe I just don't understand all of the pieces.
The era_ballpark contains the ballpark name "Yankee Stadium 1976-1987" for the 1978 Yankees. That's easy enough to understand. Does this name need to match the both the ballpark folder name in the ballparks\models folder and the prk file in that folder? It looks like the prk file contains references to the day and night jpgs, it's containing folder that Silvam names it (so it contains the _v1_4) and the obj file name (Yankee_Stadium_1976.obj). So that looks to me like I can't remove the _v1_4 from the folder name because the prk file expects the folder to have that in the name. But if I don't remove it then OOTPB won't be able to automatically find it because it doesn't match the name in the era_ballparks file. Is my understanding correct, or doesn't the folder name in the prk file matter? I think I got the naming to be consistent in OOTP 22 and it still doesn't work so I think I'm in over my head. |

I talked with Silvam today and he will be working on getting everything to match the game file. He made many updates to his stadiums since I first created the original mod so the plan is to get all of the newest versions of his stadiums working with the game. He may need to create new prk files too. We are working on this.
