The Lumberton Rockets finished 2nd in the Unsung Heroes tournament and got this nice card as a reward. To bad it doesn't fit with my Pittsburgh theme.
![]() Also got the Franchise Heroes award. The team is taking shape.

pay off for running a theme team
Yes, Franchise Heroes is a nice payback for all the limitations of the theme team. Their version of Brock seems undervalued in speed and overvalued in contact, but I will put him to use.
Franchise Heroes #1 implies there are more coming? a Franchise Mega-Hero? Like will they join together and form Votron or something? (in the case of the Cardinals, a rotund but deadly Whitey Herzog). |

Seriously, StL must be a strong contender for the best single team theme atm, and still plenty more upgrades to come!

Worries about Franchise Heroes
I have a sinking feeling that the franchise heroes initiative is going to keep a lot of cards out of the game for a long while still. For me, I think it means no Willie Mays for a long time, perhaps not at all. I understand that they felt like they overdid the number of cards for players in the past, but I hope they're not over correcting. It's been like ten weeks and it seems like a whole bunch of my favorites have not shown up. I miss seeing some of the guys I saw in my youth. Especially Willie, Mickey, and the Duke.

Got the Knockemstiff Shiners logo here to add to the archive. They're on auto-pilot in Stone with a live mission rewards roster, and I'm not gonna join OL until they're up to Bronze.
I'm planning on eventually having a heavy drinking/on field aggro theme, with an emphasis on stuff/power. I'll have to start putting together a wish list soon and I would love to know any suggestions that you guys may have! I have Dock Ellis to get the party started .

The Mad Brewers have had an interesting season so far. Mike Mussina is the second player to make the move from diamond level backup (fifth starter in the case of Mussina) to perfect starter. Plus they joined RF perfect Harold Baines to welcome three Franchise Heroes to the roster. Jose Altuve will stay in AAA due to Ian Kinsler's prowess but Frank Thomas and George Sisler are both potential starters at 1b.
The loser could DH but I have a few days to think about that given the other event - the appearance of Chicken Wolf in one of the diamond packs from the Chi (A) Franchise mission. I don't need Pedro Guerrero (for that matter I don't even have his BAL card) so Wolf has gone on the auction block but he would be an interesting entry into the RF/LF/DH mix of Ken Williams, Frank Thomas, Harold Baines, Enos Slaughter and now Chicken Wolf. Or maybe he pulls in enough PP at auction to afford a BAL/Franchise 3b? |

Down to a 2 horse race in Diamond. It's a shame that the OL teams didn't all share the same conference this week. It's basically been Nowhere vs Annandale (18 games), and Cary vs Paxville (19 games, with Lemp Ave. having 6 against Cary and & 7 against Paxville. It's always good if the leading runners play some games against each other!

And just like that he's gone. Clearly I didn't price him high enough but Chicken Wolf was sent away and the proceeds allow the Mad Brewers to unveil Tim Raines and Ryan Zimmerman.
It's late and I should be sleeping so the new lineup will wait until tomorrow. Oddly enough the Tim Raines perfect card is going for more than Chicken Wolf so I probably could keep making PP on this but Raines holds a place in my heart so we are holding on to him. Asheboro Takes Over Top Spot in OL S257
With a 5-3 mark during August, the Road Dogs edged into the lead as the teams entered the home stretch. Shinbone, 9-7, Coney Island, 7-5, and Boulder City, 4-5, remained tightly bunched, promising a lively race to the wire. Shinbone, Asheboro, and Coney Island each have nine games to play, while Boulder City has 16 games on tap. The Wreckers play both Coney Island and Shinbone, whereas Asheboro has no head-to-head match-ups with its rivals.

Gold league:
Waffletown got stuck in some sticky substance in August and dropped back in the pack; while HelthWyzer, Silly, and Cedar Rapids made a solid push to bunch at the top of the standings for the stretch run. |

Annandale continues to make improvements (I have gotten a few lucky pulls from The diamond packs you receive when completing a the franchise hero cards). But despite the improvements we are actually performing worse then we played in the start of the year. I don’t know if my active management is messing things up, if the other teams are improving more than us, or if it’s just dumb luck. Sadly, I don’t think we are going to be bad enough to get relegated into Gold so we’re going to have to pull ourselves up by your bootstraps in Diamond.
We are certainly making our opponents look great though, we got that going for us! |

Gear Terrace clinches OL R126
With a 3-game sweep of Shoebox, Gear Terrace has clinched the OL R126 title.
In organization check before the Shoebox series, Warriors General Manager Mo Ronicus discovered that SE Ty Cobb had been idling on the inactive roster for some time. Apparently, Cobb had been so infuriating to the clerk assigned to his orientation, paperwork was subsequently "lost" and Cobb had been sitting in a Motel 6 in Dubuque, waiting for instructions. (The motel manager was highly relieved on Cobb's exit.) Arriving for the last game of a series against the H-Town Pie Charts, Cobb was inserted as a PH and provided instant offense. In the next game, the series opener against the Legends, Cobb's 2-run HR in the 12th was a walk-off winner. A week later, Cobb would earn 6k PP with a natural cycle. GM Ronicus told the media, "He's a jerk. But he hits well in our league. It's the moral dilemma we often deal with." Both Shoebox and Gear Terrace are playoff hopeful. The Warriors magic number is at 6, while Shoebox is still 25 games away. |

Kaipo just pulled Negro League 100 Roy Campanella in a 6-pack run. He's been thrown onto the AH for 200k in the hopes that they can make multiple upgrades instead of just one.

Final standings for Diamond. Cary took a decisive 3-game sweep against Lemp Ave., so congratulations to the Nowhere Men!
Also kudos to the Perfectos! Both teams must have just about as good a chance in the playoffs as anyone, so good luck All teams staying in Diamond... Unless someone makes a trip to Perfect! I also have to say, I'm more than a little surprised that Paxville got through the week with just a -58 run diff. I'll be even more surprised if they do the same next week!
