I must have missed Jones when I was doing the initial screenshots for the full player profile. Since I have already played some games (I couldn't wait, you know what I mean), I chopped off the stats portion.

I have to admit, I was surprised the Boars did so well ... let alone won.

Okay, you know I was getting waaaay too optimistic after this big win. Could they ....? Naw, they couldn't. But, could they ....?

I haven't really managed more than a handful of games in the 10y of NABO Dynasty ... but after this game, I'll be managine.

Every. Single. Game.

I grew up in the "it's the pitcher's game to lose" mentality and that SP went until they couldn't go anymore. It's macho. I love it. Especially in my college pitching days.

But, after coaching for a couple of decades, my philosophy, especially for young or medium level talent pitchers, you take the successful IP and cut it off before it goes bad. Take the "Quality Start" and bank it, don't push it. If your bullpen is not good, fix your bullpen.

Also, I like RP to start a clean inning, for a few preference reasons.

Even though I have set up the manager and player strategies to steal a lot ... they ain't.

Reminder: My league settings (Stats and Ai) are the average game setting for 1980-89, the best damn decade of baseball in history.

Anyway, like most players, I have quite a few "house rules" and I have one that governs SBA ... if you attempt to steal and the (1) pitcher throws over or (2) runner starts and comes back .... that's it for that runner. No more SBA in that sequence. You all probably know that pitchers with a higher Hold rating have this built in.

A big part of this team is "not hitting into DP's", because we don't have a lot of power, so we have to stay out of multiple outs as well as get into scoring position for singles ... and we need to "score runs on outs" (R3 with 1 out, Sac Fly, all that.

If you guys have effective house rules that really enhance your experience, please share them.

I'm trying to come up with my own regarding this franchise ... such as not being able to extend any player, only having them until they hit FA ... or maybe only allowing an extension during their pre-arb years, like when you actually get/draft a can't miss prospect that will be the face of your franchise ... and it's enjoyable to have a player like that.

A sweep baby!! You know how baseball fandom is, alternating between "blow this whole team up" and "playoffs here we come", depending on how the last game went.

Still, a sweep is a sweep. Jacksonville was very close to a wildcard team last season.

Forgot to update this, 5 games ago the Boars lost their best player to injury ... and have went 4-1 since. Still, it's a big blow.

Got our first look at CYA winner, Crosson, and we battled him 2-2, and Georgia won it late.

I like to have SP serve as LR, and once the SP gets out of there after 6 IP, the LR is expected to "finish the game", 3IP.

Doing this regularly can develop 4-6 SP at once.

Also setting them as "LR" helps me remember which P have very high stamina and which ones do not.

Last game, put in all subs in the 6th and those idiots battled back, hopefully the GRand Slam by O'Neal gets him going. It's rare when your DH is your worst hitter in the lineup.

Another series win for the Boars.

Next up, a series against New Orleans with 1st place on the line. Who could have imagined that?

The New Orleans series spans over Apr-May, so we'll do the NABO48 update for April, then get into that series to take us into May.
