Even though the eBay auction from which the previously-posted Phillies image carries a 1979 date, there is no date on the photo itself. Based on his apparent age and mustache style, I believe that photo actually comes from his tenure as a Phillies coach, ca. 1985-88 (most likely 1987 or 1988). At left is an action photo dated 22-Apr-1979 (sorry, it's the best I had that was positively dated), in the center the image in question, and at right a portrait dated 20-Mar-1981.

To tnfoto: You are right. I usually make some checks on the internet before sending a post. I assumed the 1979 photo was from this exact year. I corrected the post deleting that picture. The subject was showing Unser at various stages during his career.

I found another 1979 picture (Trading Card Database) that really seems from that year based on another object on eBay. The photos are joined.

Found this press photo on eBay of a trio of New York Giants outfielders, none of whom wore the black and orange for all that long (l-r: George Wilson, Bill Howerton and Dick Wakefield). I believe Howerton was still a UIN and Wakefield's probably an improvement over what we had before. Taken May 10, 1952.

Do we have to consider most Wiz cards produced with real pictures or modified ones to obtain the player in another uniform ? I searched the Internet but could not find this information. Thanks for your answers.

It seems that the Wiz cards have more "doctored" hats than other team history sets, such as the Target Dodgers series. That leads me to be wary of any player/team combination that is only available via a Wiz card. However, the Diaz example does not have any of the glaring cut-and-paste signs of some others, even when manipulating the brightness/contrast to extremes (overlaid areas on the Wiz cards typically stand out like a sore thumb when severely adjusted). The Diaz image looks usable to me.

The Cuban-born Bauta lasted less than a season as a Met, coming over from the Cardinals (for Ken Mackenzie) in August of 1963, and throwing his final big-league pitch the following May…but that was long enough for Topps to get pics at both the Polo Grounds and beautiful Shea Stadium, both of which improve on the B/W image we had before.

Boots Day played in 1969 for the Cards, in 1970 for the Cubs, was traded to the Expos in 1970 and played his last game with the team in 1974.
He also worked for the Tigers organization as a minor league coach.
