Failure to resolve four-way tie
Four teams finished tied for the second wildcard with records of 86-76. There were two days of makeup games immediately following the season (none involving the wildcard teams).
On the third day after the scheduled regular season end, a round of tiebreaker games took place, with the Dodgers and the Marlins prevailing over the Padres and the Pirates respectively, to move to 87-76. However instead of then having the Dodgers and the Marlins play each other, it has moved on to the wildcard series, with the Dodgers being awarded the second wildcard spot. Is the scheduler unable to deal with four-way ties? Or is it somehow a function of the fact that there were also make-up games to be played (albeit not affecting the wildcard). It doesn't appear that having the playoffs scheduled has been the constraint, as it already pushed them back at least one day. Last edited by Alaric410; 12-01-2015 at 02:46 AM. |

Four-way ties aren't usually the problem. The problem is that OOTP doesn't recognize there is still a tie after the first day of tiebreaker games.

The SP allowed three runs and pitched a partial seventh inning. Perhaps the blown save is from that inning?

Hello.
I'm freaking out because my game seems to be frozen and I've spent hundreds of hours at this point playing OOTP. If I lose my league I would be truly devastated. Here's what's happening. I had some sort of weird glitch two days ago where my mouse track pad stopped working while I was playing the game. I couldn't get out of it and I had to restart the entire computer without saving my current game. The IT guy at my job fixed the mouse, but when I tried to open the game just now, it got up to 30% in the loading database section and froze at "Loading nation flags." I had to just quit the game after waiting 15 minutes hoping it would just resolve itself. So I decided to re-download the most recent version of the game. After re-installing it, I opened the game again (my name was still there at the open) and the same thing happened. PLEASE HELP! How do I resolve this issue and save my progress? Thank you very much Jack

I began googling for possible solutions and saw a response to another similar problem on Windows 10 someone was having making mention that part of their solution was to go to the "Documents" folder in Windows Explorer. Then they made mention of a sub-folder in the "Documents" folder named "Out of the Park Developments" and a sub-folder within that folder called "OOTP Baseball 16". I had neither of these last 2 folders. So : 1) I uninstalled OOTP 16 2) I opened Windows Explorer and went to the "Documents" folder 3) I created the "Out of the Park Developments" folder in there. 4) Within the "Out of the Park Developments" folder I created the "OOTP Baseball 16" folder. 5) Not sure if this part was needed, but I right-clicked on the "Out of the Park Developments" folder, selected "Properties" from the menu, then selected "Security" on the resulting window. There, I just made sure my "Home Users" account and "Administrators" accounts had "Full Control" rights (set to "Allow"). 6) I re-ran the install and started up the application. This time... no error... and I seem to have started my first season. We'll see if this is enough to continue without further issues. This may have also worked if I hadn't uninstalled OOTP and just created the 2 folders and made sure they had rights and then re-started the app, so try either way, I suppose. Have fun, everyone. |

Mac Crashes
Every time I try and close OOTP on my mac it saves quickly and then force closes and I get a notification that asks me to report the problem. Am I doing something wrong? Seems buggy to me.

When I mark players as AI Promotion/Demotion disabled and then run 'Ask AI to set-up complete organization, lineups etc.' the AI releases the players that I have marked as disabled.
I've been able to recreate 100% with the same player. And it only seems to happen on players that the AI wants to demote or promote.

Ran into an interesting "bug" which may have been discussed previously, I can't see how it wouldn't be. But after a season, I was looking at one of my pitcher's leaderboard appearances. He is credited with finishing 9th in FIP- with a 103.3, even though the whole point of FIP- is to hopefully have a number under 100.
I'm guessing that the game is doing what it is "supposed" to be doing, looking for high numbers. However, it is being applied incorrectly. |

If a player happens to get some experience at a new position, the AI will treat that player as qualified to play that position even if he's incapable of ever developing a rating at that position. It appears that even a single game of experience at a position is sufficient for the AI to consider that player qualified. The AI will often continue to use that player at the new position, resulting in the player gaining a lot of experience at the new position without developing a rating.
This is a problem because it often results in poor-fielding, left handed throwing first basemen playing 2B, 3B and/or SS. It can also result in catchers routinely playing CF, and similar situations. Sometimes the AI will then change the player's position to the new one, despite the fact he has no rating at that position and may actually have good ratings at other positions. Currently in my league's universe I have several players who throw left handed and have their primary position listed as 2B, 3B or SS, when there shouldn't be any left handed throwers at those positions. I've attached a few screenshots illustrating the problem. This is not a situation where the AI is trying to teach a player a new position. Instead the AI appears to look at experience at a position primarily (if not exclusively), and ignores actual positional ratings and fielding skills. There is no logical explanation for this. The only way I can stop the AI from doing it is by manually editing players to revert their experience at the unqualified position back to zero. This is irritating and time-consuming, and I only catch a handful of the actual instances where the AI does it. I realize that the AI is going to occasionally use a player out-of-position out of necessity, but the AI should not then continue to use that player at the unqualified position in the games that follow. The AI needs the ability to realize when a player is incapable of playing a position. I don't remember this being an issue in past years and it's possible the AI behaved properly when OOTP16 was released, so I suspect this may have been broken in a patch at some point this year. This is an easy bug to reproduce. If a league has been running for several seasons, several AI teams should have players in their lineups and depth charts who are playing at positions they're completely unqualified for and incapable of becoming qualified for. |

I just bought the game last night. When I went to open the game, it said that the game had crashed previously even though it was the 1st time opening the game. It says that the "crashed_on_startup flag is set," and that it will reset graphic settings to default values. After I click OK, it says "Unable to open startup. Make sure that screen resolution is at least 1024*768 and that the task bar is set to not always remain on top." My task bar is on the bottom. Is there anyone that knows what to do with this problem?

Is it a known issue that setting a pitch count higher than 127, then going to a different screen and coming back, will result in that number turning negative? Game seems to store pitch count in an 8-bit signed variable, so any number higher than 127 fails. This comes into play in a league with "Normal" pitcher stamina, where pitchers with high stamina can regularly throw 150+ pitches.

Empty Lineup Spot, Error in Order Defense, Part 1?
Have never seen this before. I have simmed four seasons without an issue, and now this pops up. I get the first error message "Empty Lineup Spot", and after clicking Ok, I get the second error message, Error in Order Defense, Part 1.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Bug in the Find a Player function
Sp and Stamina: a SP will continue to show up until the Stamina i select is twice (or more) then what he has. A SP with Stamina 29 (out of 100) will show up in the results even if i choose Stamina 51 (in my understanding all SP with less then 51 should not show up). He still shows up at Stamina 56. Only when Stamina reaches 61 he no longer shows up. Checked it on 2 more random pitchers with the same result |

Player Pictures Not Showing Up
I started my fourth season in my fictional league. I noticed that a number of player's thumbnail pictures are not showing up. These are the picture that would show up in the in-game screen, on the League home screen, or when you put your cursor over the player name. I also tried "Update / Generate All Player Pictures" and still no luck. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? I've never had it before in the prior season. I also noticed the pictures for the those same players do not appear in the year-end Almanac that was just generated at the end of the last year.
Thanks, Brian |
