It would be a shame if it did. He isnt one of even the top three QB's of his era. And in a few of his seasons, he wasnt even the best QB on his club.

Not quite accurate there. Pittsburgh and Philly are separated by 254 miles, so it's not really a good comparison to the Subway series', which had two teams sharing the same city. Even the MO showdown has been done before in other states, such as Super Bowl XXV with Buffalo playing the New York Giants. Super Bowl XXIX had the 49ers play the Chargers. And if Pittsburgh and Philly being separated by only 254 miles excited you, how about XLI where Chicago played Indianapolis, separated by only 159 miles? Once again, when it comes to mileage, Detroit and Toronto met for the Stanley Cup a few times and they are separated by only 206 miles.

Baltimore is closer to Philly than Pittsburgh is.

I think this proves BCS to be a better system at judging good teams than playoffs. If NFL uses BCS, no way the Cardinals would be in the Super Bowl!

That Ryan Clark-Willis McGahee collision was one of the most violent things I've seen. Nantz has already said that McGahee is moving his limbs quite well, so great. It's too bad that has to happen on such a momentous occasion, but so long as everyone is okay I guess..

I'm sorry, Kelly. I forgot Oakland still had a team.

anyone who bet the Ravens must be furious right now. anything except that interception would probably have led to them covering, if they had punted on the next play pitt likely runs the ball and maybe ends up with a FG

That hit happened right as I was getting to work last night, and the crowd of Steelers fans celebrating the end of the game immediately went silent. That was an incredibly scary moment, and it's good to hear that he should be ok.

Absolutely! Why should a team be in the Super Bowl just because they are red hot, peaking at the right time, and doing everything they need to do to win, beating whatever team has been thrown up against them when it counts. Most likely the BCS would have the Giants in there since they had the best record, come from a tough division, and were playing exceptionally a mere month and a half ago. Most importantly sports talk radio and Sports Center would have so much more to talk about if a team other than Arizona was playing. Ratings people ratings! I think all Steelers fans should be petitioning the NFL to have the Super Bowl changed.

I caught a bit of the Baltimore-Pittsburgh game introduction sequence. It mentioned the upstart AFL, which then became the AFC. Interestingly, the two teams competing for the AFC championship are not original members of the AFL. Pittsburgh and Baltimore (ex-Cleveland) are actually long-time NFL clubs that agreed to switch to the AFC in the 1970 merger. The other clubs that are members of the AFC but are not original AFL teams are Indianapolis (ex-Baltimore) and Seattle (which came into the league in 1976 as part of the NFC).
(To be precise, ex-Cleveland actually started in the AAFC and joined the NFL in 1950.) |
