How has SP Jorge Blemarcick looked in your league? In my 2nd run with your QS, he has won the Cy Young 9 times from 1900 through 1912.

He's still around, played for the Expos, Giants, and Blue Jays. 223 G, 213 GS, 482 BB, 762K, 12.3 WAR total. He has been basically a 5th starter, bouncing between AAA and the majors.

1907 MLB All-Star Rosters
Really starting to see the feeder league players take over the All-Star teams. Even Aiden Shelton who was just the #1 prospect last year is now one of the top outfielders in the game and he hasn't even met his full potential yet.

Didn't have any teams with fewer than 16 players this year. Abraham was the 2nd overall pick to the Dbacks and he failed to sign. He won the silver slugger award at CF every year in high school

1907 Where Are They Now?
Top Prospects:
Jonathan Burleson - We looked at him last year since he was the top draft prospect in 1901. In 1902, he was the number one prospect in baseball. In 1903, he reached the Major Leagues. On November 2nd, 1907, he retired from professional baseball. Career MLB Stats: 106 PA, .286 wOBA, 83 wRC+, -2.4 ZR, -0.3 WAR Dave Sweet - The top pitching prospect of 1902 has had a better career than the top hitting prospect, albeit an injury-riddled one. He spent the past 6 years in the majors with the Braves, but has missed quite a bit of time to a torn labrum, herniated disc, and other miscellaneous injuries. Career MLB Stats: 129 G, 253 BB, 414 K, 14.1 WAR Draftees: Kevin Caperton - Caperton has had a back and forth career. One year he looks poised to break out, the next year he hangs around MLB average. He did make an all-star team in 1906, but missed some time this year with a bone bruise on his wrist. Career MLB Stats: 2968 PA, .320 wOBA, 116 wRC+, -23.4 ZR, 11.4 WAR Joe Ramage - We also looked at Ramage last year since he too was in the 1901 draft. He made the All-Star team in 1907 and pitched two more shutouts. Career MLB Stats: 143 G, 258 BB, 458 K, 18.9 WAR Dave Farver - The number one draftee in 1902. He jumped from Rookie ball in 1904 to AAA in 1905 for 5 games and then right into the MLB. He has been solid but not spectacular with a few injuries to deal with. Career MLB Stats: 1555 PA, .340 wOBA, 129 wRC+, -11.6 ZR, 7.7 WAR Award Winners: Gelacio Arcos - He's a potential Hall of Fame CF/RF who had a couple of very good peak years, including his 1902 MVP year. He's the career leader in SB with 776 currently. Career MLB Stats: 5044 PA, .322 wOBA, 109 wRC+, 94.4 ZR, 37.2 WAR Ron Griffin - The 1902 NL Rookie of the Year has found his place as a good 2nd or 3rd starting pitcher for the Rockies. Career MLB Stats: 205 G, 319 BB, 578 K, 24.3 WAR Other: Jamie Holley - He pitched a no-hitter in 1902 for the A's. He continued to pitch for most of the season in 1903 but then made it into only 12 major league games in 1904. He signed a minor league contract with the Royals in 1905 and tore his labrum and then retired at the end of the 1905 season. Career MLB Stats: 119 G, 155 BB, 276 K, 14.5 WAR Chris Gardner - After making the first three All-Star teams, he has not made another. His production dropped off a ledge in 1903 when he turned 32, but he stuck with the Indians through 1907. Now 37 and a free agent, his career may hang in the balance. Career MLB Stats: 4935 PA, .309 wOBA, 99 wRC+, 18.5 ZR, 13.9 WAR Jon White - The last 6-hit 9-inning game in the MLB to occur after quite a few in 1900 and 1901. He is a replacement level to average 3B/LF for the Dodgers and Cubs. Career MLB Stats: 4897 PA, .315 wOBA, 105 wRC+, -82.1 ZR, 5.7 WAR Nate Verity - His 33 game hitting streak is still the best in Major League history. He's an above average LF for the Devil Rays. Career MLB Stats: 4163 PA, .335, 122 wRC+, -29.1 ZR, 17.9 WAR Arturo Salas - The top FA in the 1902 offseason is still with the Padres. His first season with the Padres was very good but then he ran into injuries in 1904 - radial nerve compression, and 1906 - torn UCL. Career MLB Stats: 203 G, 308 BB, 620 K, 33.6 WAR |

Brewers change General Manager
Toribio Marreca is out, Juan Salvatierra is in. Merreca's contract was not renewed after the 1907 season as the team has missed the last 3 playoffs. Salvatierra comes from the Angels, who have made 4 out of 8 playoffs and won it all in 1901. Incidentally, Merreca swapped places with Salvatierra.

1907 FA Summary
Quite a few players signed either minor league deals or with Independent teams. Marvin Munoz has been a free agent on basically every single opening day and it's probably impacting his career numbers. |

How many HS players on average don't sign when drafted, and how many HS players have you noticed automatically moving on to college in the feeder leagues?
Just curious as I am trying to figure out a format like your for my league. Thanks, really enjoying this thread! |
