1962 Top 100 Prospects
The age of pitching prospects continues with the top 9 prospects still hurlers. Former 2nd overall pick Ronnie Trueman leads the pack this year. Julian Foreman is still the top hitting prospect. Last edited by stealofhome; 06-23-2019 at 12:11 AM. |

1962 Hall of Fame
Ronnie Struemph, LHP Struemph was a mainstay at the front of the Yankees rotation throughout their run of 3 World Series in 8 years. His career value places him solidly in the second or third tier of starting pitchers ever to play, along with others such as John Kalinoski and Librado Dorado. Initial Acquisition: Drafted 40th overall in 1944 by the Yankees out of Hortonville MLB Awards: 1 ROY, 4 AS, 3 WS Career Stats: 3662 IP, 910 BB, 1573 K, 3.58 FIP, 88 FIP-, 70.3 WAR, 60.5 JAWS Emilio Forrest, 3B Forrest helped both the Padres and Brewers win World Series with solid play at the hot corner. He was never anything flashy on defense but his well above-average bat hid some of his weaknesses with the glove. His career totals put him behind Alonso Carvajal and Jody Davison for best 3B all-time, but they do stack up well in comparison to Ash Ingle and the still active Brandon Scoresby in the tier just below. Initial Acquisition: Drafted 1st overall in 1944 by the Padres out of Loyola Marymount MLB Awards: 1 Tomas Reed MVP, 3 AS, 2 SS, 3 WS, 1 PMVP Career Stats: 9134 PA, 1921 H, 279 HR, 5 SB, .351 wOBA, 118 wRC+, -6.9 ZR, 51.4 WAR, 42.5 JAWS Paul Stevens, RF The late 1940s through the 1950s have led to a glut of very good corner outfielders and Stevens is among that group. His career looks similar to Jeremiah Locust, falling just outside the Hall. He was very good on offense and had one year in which he finished 3rd in the MVP voting, but his defense was enough of a liability to drop his value outside of that top tier of players. Initial Acquisition: Drafted 12th overall in 1944 by the Indians out of Carbondale MLB Awards: 4 AS, 2 SS, 1 WS Career Stats: 9111 PA, 2435 H, 126 HR, 256 SB, .354 wOBA, 118 wRC+, -57.6 ZR, 40.8 WAR, 35.8 JAWS |

1963 Top 100 Prospects
The top prospect in baseball is Brayden White, currently in the Cubs' bullpen but with the possibility of becoming an elite starter. The top hitting prospect again comes in at #10 -- RF Moe Fay. He looks to be a good contact, elite power hitter. |

Again more pitching at the top of the draft. Sam Boone who was drafted 1st overall in 1960 but failed to sign was drafted 1st overall again this year. The first high school player drafted was of course also a pitcher. Rueben Westbrook will rely on his changeup to turn him into a major-league capable starter. 1963 MLB Playoffs
The Indians won their 5th World Series and those Padres were back for another one too. I haven't reset the finances lately but I may in a few years. I understand that dynasties and long-standing successful franchises are realistic, but it feels forced to me for some reason. Like the game is deciding that the Padres are just going to go to the next 5 championships, no matter what.
