May 2296 - News and Notes - May 14
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 14 May 2296 - Dwellers Ship First-Rounder to Nordhagen Beach Earlier today, officials from the Vault 81 Dwellers and the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys announced that they had finalized negotiations last night on a trade between the two teams. The deal will send 29-year-old LHP Julian Shed, 17-year-old 3B Dirty Dog Sapienza, 16-year-old 2B Pointie Shroud and 23-year-old LHP Kevin Containment to Nordhagen Beach in exchange for 30-year-old LF Steve Gunkill, 18-year-old 3B Mark Dombrowski and 28-year-old RHP Charlie Maloney. To date this year Shed, Vault 81's first-round pick (16th overall), has compiled a 2-3 mark with a 6.88 ERA in 6 starts. The Dwellers have communicated that they are seeking more leadership on their team and felt that Shed would do better elsewhere while looking for players that could be considered leaders. That is where Gunkill and Dombrowski come in. Gunkill, who is batting .329 with 0 home runs and 10 RBI, will help fill that role on the Dwellers. Dombrowski may fulfill the leadership role, also, but it will be hard for him to take over the third base position from Terry O'Dell, who is hitting .405 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. Dombrowski is hitting.235 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI but possesses good leadership skills. Egret player-coach Troy Phlillabum said, "We will miss Jules [Julian Shed] but we are happy to have Gunkill and Dombrowski come in and help us win the league." The Party Boys will also receive 13th-round relief pitcher Containment, who could take over the closer role for Nordhagen Beach. In three appearances, he has a 15.43 ERA with one save. All other players involved in the deal were reserve players. All players were notified of the deal yesterday, and were sent immediately to their new clubs. We do not know yet if any will arrive on time. The game between the Party Boys and Salem Witch Hats was scheduled to begin at 1:05, but it will be delayed until 7:05 to allow more travel time for the new Party Boys' players. The Vault 81 game against the Oberland T-51s was already scheduled to begin at 7:05 and is expected to start on time.

Not sure about this trade, which seems pretty one-sided in favour of the Dwellers - hope the Boys haven't had their pockets picked!

14 May 2296 - DCR Week 7 Preview
DCR – COUNTY CROSSING BLOODBUGS (8-10) AT FINCH FARM FOUR LEAFS (11-7) WHAT TO KNOW Though these two teams are only separated by three games, this looks to be a tale of two teams going in opposite directions. County Crossing has yet to find its consistency, and that has led to a team that has no place where it stands out against other Brotherhood League teams. The offense could use more production, and the defense needs to find its footing to support the pitching. The Four Leafs have been winning in shootouts so far, leading the BL with 129 runs and giving up the 4th most runs, 112. That means they will play close and win close, with the occasional blowout win or loss. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM COUNTY CROSSING The Bloodbugs have been pretty good at getting batters on base, but they are not scoring those runners enough. If they can find their hits from a decently good 1-4 portion their lineup, the Bloodbugs could shock the Four Leafs. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM FINCH FARM Finch Farm should score seven or more runs per game. If their starting rotation continues doing what it does, that should mean late-game leads in all three games. If Matt Pageturner, Steve Rocky, and Josh Dude pitch as expected, this should be the Four Leafs' series. KEY PLAYERS IN THE SERIES CC: 1-2 Hit-Hit - Leadoff batter Tom Mastodon and second hitter Joel Carrotflower are lighting up the BL, hitting .476 and .416, respectively. County Crossing needs that to continue to have a chance in this series. FF: The Wrath of the Tato - Peter Tatoeater has been on fire through the first six weeks, hitting .440 with 6 home runs and 24 RBI. His six homers only trails Nordhagen Beach's Michael Fogcrawler in the BL, and his 24 RBI and 17 extra-base hits both lead the BL. PREDICTION: Four Leafs do not need luck, win all three.

14 May 2296 - WRVR Week 7 Preview
WRVR – University Point Deathclaws (10-8) AT Warwick Mirelurks (15-3) KNOW THE STARS UP: CF Jukebox Luttrell – The Deathclaws lead the Minutemen League in home runs, and Luttrell leads the team in home runs with seven. While Warwick is thriving on its awesome pitching, it will be up to Lutrell to make his team bust out of low-scoring games. WAR: SP John Diner - Diner has been hot all season, going 5-0 on the season so far with a CBO-best among starting pitchers 2.00 ERA. For perspective, the CBO only features three players with an ERA below 3.00, including Diner's teammate Justin Sphinx (2.90). If Diner continues his dominance, the Mirelurks are already halfway to winning the weekend series. PLAYER VS PLAYER – GAME ONE LINEUPS AND STARTING PITCHERS TEAM ANALYSIS University Point has not been outstanding on any part of its game other than power numbers, though that still has only been good enough to score the third-most runs in the ML. The Deathclaws will have to find all of its might this weekend to score more runs than any other team has against Warwick, which the Deathclaws already did in a 14-12 loss in Week 4. Winning two of three this weekend would tie the season series. While Warwick is by far the best team in the CBO when it comes to not allowing runs, they are also dead last in the ML with 114 runs scored. For the Mirelurks, a combination of solid pitching with holding their opponent's numbers down will leave them probably with at least a 2-1 weeekend. PREDICTIONS Mirelurks 4, Deathclaws 2 Deathclaws 3, Mirelurks 2 Mirelurks 6, Deathclaws 4 CBO Full Schedule

DCR Week 7 Series Recap
The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week. The gods of change always have their way, except for the gods of war. War never changes. While this battle of Brotherhood League teams looked on paper like there could be some drama, in the end, the Finch Farm Four Leafs would do what they were expected to do: win the series. However, County Crossing's Game Three victory not only prevented the Four Leafs from being in sole possession of first place and the Bloodbugs in sole possession of fifth, but the Bloodbugs went against the fates of the war gods for one weekend and took the series, two games to one. Otherwise, we can see that Finch Farm is the more solid team, right where they are supposed to be at the end: tied for first place with The Slog. County Crossing is supposed to finish in fourth place, where they are, though currently tied with Salem, which is supposed to finish in fifth place, a game back of the Bloodbugs. Do you see where I am going with this? I am starting to think the gods of war are writing this narrative, the one where war does not change. The Bloodbugs came to play and win, no doubt, but the fates in the end have Four Leafs as the victors. Play 1000 games versus each other, and the Four Leafs win 666 or 667. That's the way it is. That's the way it will be. By County Crossing winning this weekend's series, to overcome previously being swept by the Four Leafs, the season series currently sits at Four Leafs four victories, Bloodbugs two. The way it was. The way it is. The way it will be. Looking at a few of our standout players, County Crossing's ace Front Porch Potter had perhaps his best performance of the season in Game 1, moving to 3-3 overall. In seven innings, he allowed only two earned runs on two hits with five walks and five strikeouts to help the Bloodbugs win 4-2. In Game 3 tonight, catcher Brian Fuller had a surprising performance. He won game MVP honors by going 2 for 4 with two home runs, his first two of the season. He scored twice and drove in three in the Bloodbugs' 10-5 series-clinching win. For Finch Farm's standout, leadoff man Ginger Rogers was the game MVP in Game 2 where the Four Leafs won 7-5. Rogers was 2 for 5 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and five runs batted in. That performance allowed Steve Rocky to with the game and move to 5-0 on the season. Well, fans, that will do it for this week's "The Confidence Man Minute." I am your DC Radio broadcaster, DJ, and news reporter Travis Miles. Join me next week as the DCR crew travels to the Railroad League at Egret Tours Marina where we will watch the Scrappers host the Vault 81 Dwellers. From all of us here at DC Radio, we hope you enjoyed our broadcast. Tomorrow, remember to wear your green. I think I'll go pick up a souvenir Four Leafs jersey before I leave tonight for my trip back to Diamond City. Good night, all!

WRVR Week 7 Recap
The Human Jaw with George, and Anne, and Rex G: We are the Charles River Trio, and you have just listened to the Warwick Mirelurks complete the sweep with a 5-4 win today over the University Point Deathclaws. You are listening to "The Human Jaw." I'm your host George Cooper, with my co-hosts Anne Hargraves and Rex Goodman. Warwick Homestead may be the smelliest settlement in the Commonwealth, but they have one hell of a baseball team. They are now 18-3 on the season. As we can see on the ESAU, the Atom Cats currently lead Goodneighbor 5-1 in the bottom of the second. If that score were to hold, then Atom and Goodneighbor would be tied for second place at 11-10, a full seven games behind the Mirelurks. A: We saw the best team in the CBO play this weekend, for sure, George. I am pretty sure we will watch them again. R: Oh, are we staying here for a double-header weekend as we did for Nordhagen Beach? G: No, not this time, Rex. We're going to Abernathy Farm next weekend. A: I meant, we will see them again for the CBO playoffs, Rexie. And maybe before the playoffs, too. Didn't Mr. Howard mention something about flex weekends? G: That's right, Anne. Weeks 16 through 20 are open weekends where we will be assigned based on division races. So, pretty much, we only broadcast the good teams starting in Week 16. A: That's good to know. If there are two things I like, well, there are many things I like. But one of them is success. R: Praytell, Anne, what might the other of that due be? A: Butts. R: Our depths among society and anatomy know no bounds. May I present my Sportiest Sport this week? G: That's for the comeback player, right? R: Indeed. As we have observed, Warwick won all three matches. Yet, among the throes of defeat, one player stood out as the type of player any cellar-dweller should wish to emulate. That player is University Point's third baseman Ryan Morris. While his weekend was decent with three hits, a single, a double, and a round-tripper, his constant encouragement for his battlemates stood out as being sporty. He is my guy, like you would say, Anne. A: Thank you, Rexie. My Bottoms Up award for the best comeback player of the week. In today's game, we saw the Mirleurks trailing 4-2 entering the eighth inning. The winning run was driven in by Shane Noteman, but the person he drove in for that game-winning run receives my Bottoms Up Award. His name is Tutton Gatekeeper. A mouthful but a man who screams "Bottoms." And "Up." Gatekeeper wins the award thanks to his heroics in the eighth inning. With two men on and two men out, Gatekeeper stroked a Mike Coombaya pitch off the right-center field fence, scoring the appropriately named Warwick Homestead and Melon Sanderson to knot the game at four runs apiece. With the game-winning run, Gatekeeper gets a heroic pat on the butt. G: I will finish up with my Outstanding Player. It was a close race between two Mirelurks, Warwick Homestead and Jonathan Sapplicker, but in the end I am going to choose the shortstop Sapplicker. In three games, he was 4 for 10 with two home runs, four runs scored, three runs batted in, and two walks. Let us conclude this episode of "The Human Jaw” by introducing an addition to our song library, the beautiful, the mesmerizing, the elegant, Ms. Magnolia. Tell me, listeners, are you "Man Enough"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0LRe24d1y8 Writer's Note: For all of you not familiar with the game, the real-life Lynda Carter, you know, WONDERWOMAN!, is the actor and singer for in-game Magnolia. Lynda Carter also wrote Magnolia's songs.

May 2296 - News and Notes - May 16
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 16 May 2296 - Celebratory Shot Backfires The Quincy Gunners had a lot to celebrate this week. Following their 10-3 victory over the Jamaica Plain Treasures, the Gunners completed a sweep to raise their record to 9-12. Quincy fans were so excited for the victory that one shot off a celebratory harpoon gun after the victory. Unfortunately, one Quincy player, reliever Michael Thawt, stood in the landing path of the harpoon, leaving him impaled to the right-field wall of The Stone House. It took a couple of hours to remove Thawt from the wall and transport him to the Quincy Hospital. Though he is expected to live at this time thanks to blood packs available at the field, Thawt is considered to be in critical condition and will miss some time. On the season, Thawt has appeared in four games, allowing two earned runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. He is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA. The fan in the stands was questioned about the incident, but the incident was ruled to be an accident. Quincy owner Smiling Larry decided after the incident to ban all weapons from the stadium except baseball bats. Before the incident, firearms and explosives were not allowed, but other firing weapons like harpoon guns and fireworks were allowed. Those are now also banned, as well as brass knuckles, sledgehammers, swords, knives, and boxing gloves. Smiling Larry said bats would still be allowed in case fans wanted players to sign them. The fan was also banned from all Quincy home games.

Nordhagen Beach News
Julian Shed came in and got the start for Nordhagen Beach. He pitched a great game and left after eight innings with a 4-3 lead. Unfortunately for him, Kevin Containment may not have been a good piece of the puzzle for the Party Boys. Containment got the chance to show he can be a closer and, well, you can see below . . .

2296 Week 7 - The Week in Review
Most of the divisions are starting to see a bit of separation. I'm curious to see what the next three weeks bring as we approach the midway mark!

Get to Know Your Settlements, Owners, and Corporations
Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 19 May 2296 - Easy Town Each Tuesday for the upcoming weeks through the playoffs, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. In our sixth installment of "Settlement Today," I went to the place I will refer to as Easy Town. There are several places in the Commonwealth known by different names, but the slice of the former East Boston carries perhaps the most sobriquets of all. For those running the show here now, they mostly refer to it as Easy Town, so that is why I will, too. That nickname spurred from Easy City, which is the name of the local racetrack, Easy City Downs. Some also refer to East Boston and the Airport. Not far away lies Nordhagen Beach, but that is a different area entirely. East Boston, circa 2288 What we know now is that the area has been organized and that makes it one of the more popular settlements in all of the Commonwealth. The Brotherhood of Steel calls this area its territory, though most of the soldiers live south of Easy Town at Boston Airport. The Mechanist, aka Isabel Cruz, has what she calls the Mechanist's Lair nearby. And of course, there is the schoolhouse community in East Boston Prep, the place where the East Boston Prep Assaultrons' stadium was constructed. East Boston Prep In its history, "The East Boston Preparatory School was founded by the Catholic Church as a religious institution. However, as church funding declined, local activists took over the school as a secular organization serving the immigrant population of East Boston. The school was eventually abandoned during the economic recession before the Great War" (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/East...aratory_School). In 2287, "A gang of raiders, led by Judge Zeller, . . . transformed the school into a reeducation camp to recruit new raiders and coax in unwary travelers. This 'reeducation; [was] simply torture; new raiders [were] broken in, each holding a blood contract which [stated] their loyalty to the judge and his jury. Those who [did] not break [were] executed." That is, before Nate Howard came in and wiped out Zeller and his brainwashed by request of Bunker Hill. Today Easy Town is a gambling and entertainment hub of the Commonwealth, the place where many Brotherhood of Steel initiates come for their R&R. Because of the number of young people in close proximity, there are some double entendres to the use of Easy Town, too, but we will leave those for your imagination. Needless to say, it has not yet developed itself into a metropolitan area just yet like Diamond City and Lexington has, but Easy Town is one of the more popular spots for those under 25. Owners - Deb and Kay Merchant Deb Merchant - Working the merchant booth While the married couple are co-owners of the team, with some help from their daughter, Meg, Deb is the one who runs the day-to-day operations of the ball club while Kay spends most of her time managing the businesses and clinic within East Boston Prep. Kay Merchant during a hard day's work Deb and Kay got their start together in Bunker Hill. There, Deb was one of the main general goods traders of the Commonwealth, while Kay ran the settlement's clinic. After the trade reform of 2288, they decided to move east and set up shop in helping to run the well-defended area. Raider remnants were quickly wiped out, and Deb and Kay became the entrepreneurs that Easy Town needed. Robot Races Easy City Downs This is the place where a lot of money is lost by the Brotherhood of Steel. They even had to make a deal with the bettors that they could never allow more than a 50% of monthly income wager from Brotherhood soldiers. Still, the track rakes in the caps! The track features its main attractions. According to the official Easy City Downs entry, those racing robots are: "Atomic Dreamz (Mister Handy), Tin Man (protectron), Ol' Rusty (eyebot), Piece o' Junk (Mister Handy), Iron Maiden (assaultron), Lady Lovelace (assaultron), The Boston Blaster (Mister Gutsy), Bob's Your Uncle (Mister Handy) and Fusion's Folly (Mister Handy)."

Piper Column - 20 May 2296
I Digress by Piper Wright I have been a journalist for a long time now. I will say these days it is all about the progress we have made. My job used to be tougher than it is now, so this is not to complain but to explain. The Commonwealth has changed a lot over the years. When I was way too young to take on the responsibilities of adulthood, I had no choice but to take care of my little sister when my father was murdered. His murder meant that Nat and I became orphans, and then suddenly I had to grow up. Now I am building upon a change in the Commonwealth in a different way, building upon an empire. We are still working out the kinks of the technology and infrastructure, but I am using the premier of the Commonwealth in building my own media empire. It was at first just Publick Occurrences, a small newsletter that my sister and I poured our hearts into when we were much younger. Then I was looking to out synths and monitor the Institute from within the confines of Diamond City. Synths and the Institute were the bogeymen of the Commonwealth, which was true for awhile, until Blue changed that. Then we changed our efforts towards general Commonwealth news reporting and clean up. At that point, I expanded Publick Occurences to a media umbrella, which I called Pipercom. Now, I have acquired the rights to the pre-war company BosCom. Through BosCom, I am looking to rediscover television and make it where every home in the Commonwealth has both a radio AND TV. That is the American way of things, right? And I hope to make the CBO a part of that media empire, showing at least one game every day to a live audience who can watch it as far as our signal allows. There are miles to go before we are there, though, and 2297 may be too early a time to broadcast those games. However, we are setting April 1, 2297, as our goal to have some sort of television signal, even if it is on a closed circuit scale at first. That would be a major accomplishment. Isabel Cruz and Kent Connolly have been helping me on that trail. Nate Howard has chipped in where he can help. The Institute and Brotherhood of Steel have joined in on efforts to acquire, repair, and understand past technologies. There is a lot going right here. As another bit of news, I have been in Fairline Hill Estates, and I now have permission to pass on this news. I have been negotiating with Nate and Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai owner Eleanor Scarface. We have agreed in principle to the following: 1. BosCom, formerly Pipercom, will begin an immediate sponsorship of the Yao Guai team. While we are still working on how we will run the company, I do have access to a number of BosCom insignia, so I will put the Pipercom properties, including Publick Occurences and our radio news correspondent programs that are broadcast on the two Commonwealth radio stations, DC Radio and WRVR, all under BosCom. 2. Since we are concentrating on providing TV signals to the Commonwealth, the other part of the takeover will be delayed. However, as early as 2297 and as late as 2298, I will become the acting owner of the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai. At this point, I plan to maintain the team location and name, but there will be more corporate sponsorship logos around the Yao Guai Circle facilities. We will also look to recruit more settlers to the area by opening an affiliated BosCom office 3. We are currently in negotiations of how Fairline Hill Estates can expand its territory. It is a closed-off area, but we would consider expanding south to include the area of Milton General Hospital and the Fallon's Department Store headquarters. That is also Shaw High School territory, so we need to work out more details among Arlen Glass, Nate Howard, and myself. Because of this breaking news and having to attend meetings in and around other areas, I have been unable to directly interview players for my weekly-planned column. However, I have used the ESAU system while at Fairline Hill Estates to communicate with other players and have made some notes. I will hope to bring you a feature on one or more players next week. I hope this news is as exciting to you as it has been to me, the employees of Publick Occurrences and Pipercom, and the people invested in improving technology in the Commonwealth. Please leave comments at your local news distribution office or on the intranet if you have access to let us know what your thoughts are. The people of Fairline Hill Estates have most certainly been proud to hear of this news, especially after the recent incident with Babyface Aorta and his gang. To Eleanor Scarface, I look forward to our partnership and bringing a championship to Fairline Hill Estates.

21 May 2296 - DCR Week 7 Preview
DCR – VAULT 81 DWELLERS (10-11) AT EGRET SCRAPPERS (12-9) WHAT TO KNOW This battle in the Railroad League features two teams currently going in the same direction: down. The Dwellers entered last week with a realistic chance to be in first place when they hosted Oberland. Unfortunately for the Dwellers, they were swept at home, driving them to fourth place in the RL and falling four games behind the first-place T-51s. The Egret Scrappers looked like they were on the way to a huge division lead, much like the Minutemen League’s Warwick Mirelurks. Unfortunately for the Scrappers, the last two weekends resulted in a 2-4 record, dropping them from first place to two games behind the T-51s despite being 4-2 against them on the season. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM VAULT 81 The Dwellers are going to need its offense to be more effective against Egret than most teams have been able to accomplish. Currently, the Dwellers are second in the RL in runs scored (147), which will give them an advantage on offense, but the pitching, especially the bullpen where four players have a 13.50 ERA or higher. Basically, Vault 81 needs runs in excess. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM EGRET The Scrappers have shown the best starting pitching so far in the season, leading the league in runs allowed and Starters ERA, as well as FIP and Pitching WAR. Starters Phlip Wallace, Nick Poppa, and Danny Cautious are a combined 9-4, giving them a good chance to win if they can last late into the game. KEY PLAYERS IN THE SERIES V81: Pot ‘o Gold—The Commonwealth loves St. Patrick’s Day, and we celebrated hard this past Sunday. Who better to continue that luck for the Dwellers than Erns Gold, the first baseman? On the season, Gold is batting .349 with eight home runs (1st in RL) and 29 runs batted in (2nd). EGR: Lord of the Danse – He may be famous in the Commonwealth for something other than baseball, but former Brotherhood paladin, Danse looks to be on the MVP track in the RL. Danse is currently batting .459 on the season with seven home runs and 17 RBI. He leads the league and CBO in several advanced categories, which puts him in a powerful position as the Scrappers’ cleanup man. Those CBO-leading categories include OBP (.520), extra-base hits (20), OPS+ (205), and WOBA (.567). PREDICTION: It’s hard to go against Egret in all three, but we think they win two.

Is there any chance the Egrets might entertain a trade of their entire starting rotation for the Party Boys starters?

21 May 2296 - WRVR Week 8 Preview
WRVR – LEXINGTON SYNTHS (7-14) AT ABERNATHY ADAMANTIUM (14-7) KNOW THE STARS LEX: LF Tyler Ross – Ross was the 10th-round pick of the Synths, but he has been a beast in the leadoff spot, batting .400 on the season. In 85 at bats, he has 34 hits, with two doubles, two triples, and four home runs. He has scored 14 runs, knocked in 13, walked 11 times, struck out 10, stole two bases, and was caught stealing thrice. ABE: SS Austin Engill – The Vault 81 kid has emerged as a premier player in the league thanks in part to the extensive baseball training he received. That has helped Engill to be a good all-around player, including better-than-average defense. On top of his good defense, the Adamantium first-rounder, the number one overall pick in the draft, is hitting .378 with six doubles, two triples, and six home runs. He has scored 31 runs, knocked in 24, walked 21 times, and struck out 16. PLAYER VS PLAYER – GAME ONE LINEUPS AND STARTING PITCHERS TEAM ANALYSIS Minus their power numbers, Lexington has not been very good at hitting the ball in Institute League play. The Synths currently sit at 5th or 6th in the league in most offensive categories. The most glaring is that they have scored 128 runs in games so far this season, good for 5th in the IL. Pitching has also been on the low-end of production in the IL, thus the Synths winning only one out of every three games. Lexington is 4th in the IL in runs allowed (148), giving them a one-run per game difference throughout the season. That would seem to indicate that games remain close, but all facets of their team must perform better to compete against the league’s best team. Offense has been good for Abernathy, leading to a league-best 160 runs, good for scoring more than 7.5 runs per game. That should lead to success against a struggling pitching staff the Synths throw out on the mound. All eight of the Adamantium starters hit over .300, so we would not be surprised to see double-digit runs for the Adamantium in all three games. While not the best pitching staff in the IL, the Adamantium staff is still good. The most acceptable stat is that they are tied for first in the IL with 124 runs allowed. Staff ace Jason Woods is 4-1 with a 5.93 ERA, so a deep pitching performance and the usual from the Adamantium offense almost guarantees a victory in Game One. PREDICTIONS Adamantium 14, Synths 2 Adamantium 10, Synths 7 Adamantium 9, Synths 8 CBO FULL SCHEDULE

They could most certainly use better overall pitching to compete this season!

May 2296 - News and Notes - May 22
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 22 May 2296 - Nakano Attends Jamaica Plain Game Jamaica Plain has been exceptionally bad through the first seven weekends, and that poor performance continued yesterday evening in the Treasures’ 13-4 dismantling at the hands of the University Point Deathclaws. The Treasures are now 4-18 on the season, and Season 1 for the squad in Jamaica Plain looks all but lost. There have been rumors recently surrounding the team, especially concerning team owner Lucas Miller. Apparently, Miller has been concentrating more lately on expanding his business deals to bring more acclaim and caps to Jamaica Plain. While Jamaica Plain does have its quaint attractions, like the Treasures of Jamaica Plain Museum, the biggest selling point these days is that Miller deals more with Quincy, Vault 88, and the Quincy Quarries than he does managing the settlement, and definitely more than he does in managing the baseball team. Most of the baseball’s Treasures' management has thus fallen to Miller’s assistant, his son-in-law Murray Manhole. In fact, in yesterday’s game, it was especially notable that Miller was not present, but an interesting special guest was, Kasumi Nakano. Nakano is known as the owner of the Red Rocket franchise. Before the Great War, Red Rocket was a well-known fuel filling station chain. Nakano has taken then well-built structures and built her miniature empire for electrical repairs and rejuvenations. That has meant some comfort to the Commonwealth which includes functioning refrigerator and freezer units, operating machinery in factories, and general repairing needs for radios, terminals, and Pip-boys. Nakano is the corporate sponsor for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, which gives the Party Boys’ stadium name, Red Rocket Stadium. That makes the buzz all about why Nakano was at the stadium in Jamaica Plain in the first place. Her “no comment” response to our inquiries tells us there might be more baseball-related reasons than what seems like the obvious reason for visiting Jamaica Plain was. As Occam’s Razor would amplify, Nakano could be in Jamaica Plain simply for Red Rocket-related business that has nothing to do with baseball. That would seem the likeliest reason, and then Nakano was attending a baseball game just because it was something to do at 4 PM on a Thursday in Jamaica Plain. However, it seems that Miller would also be present instead of Manhole if this was a Red Rocket meeting. In fact, Miller was not in Jamaica Plain at all at the time of this writing. We will keep our ears to the ground to see what we can learn. It would be no surprise if more changes to the CBO were to occur. After all, this is the first season of the league, and the god of creation may not yet know what he is doing.
