Cards news: May 20 -- Walker and Colorado's Urias suspended after brawl
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker and Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Julio Urias have both been suspended after Walker charged the mound after being hit by a Urias pitch in the top of the second inning of St. Louis' 8-6 win in Colorado on May 19.
Urias had just given up a home run to Cedric Mullin. He followed that by hitting Walker as the benches cleared. Walker will have to sit for two games. Urias will be out for six. |

Alan Zinter's tenure as the St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach proved to be short as he has been fired after just 41 games (19-22) and will be replaced by Jing-Bo Hsiao.
Brought in to help upgrade an offense which ranked among the league's worst in 2024, the Cardinals have only gotten worse in 2025. Through 41 games, they are hitting just .213 (15th in the NL) with 155 runs scored (14th). Their 452 strikeouts also are 30 more than any other team in the National League. |

Cards news: May 30 -- Baker may miss four weeks with shoulder injury
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right-handed relief pitcher Bryan Baker on the 15-day injured list after he left a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies on May 28 with a sore shoulder.
Baker, 30, has pitched in 19 games this season going 1-1 with one save and a 4.58 ERA. Taking Baker's place on the roster will be right-hander Ryan Helsley. Helsley, 30, has been out since March 17 when he suffered a strained hamstring in a spring training game against Atlanta.
