1869 Princeton University baseball team

This was before they had adopted the name 'Tigers' and were just known as the Princeton baseball club.

Those checkered uniforms tho....... I feel like it will be a love-hate no in between thing for anyone who lays eyes on them.

William Shuttleworth Hamilton Young Canadians/Maple Leafs (1854)

"The Father of Canadian Baseball", he played mostly as a catcher I think, beginning in 1854 and playing into the 1860s. This image is from 1868 I believe.

Baseball game at Gallaudet University, 1870

Unknown whether or not this was a formal organized game or simply a pickup game for fun.

Completely random and a bit off-topic but I can't NOT post this. While I was scrolling an archive of images from the 1850s in an attempt to find some more pre-mlb images but instead somehow stumbled upon this image that I was at first confused by since this fellow looks very veeeeeeeeeerrrryyy 1970s and I thought it got in there by accident or something but it turns out its actually from some book from 1856 and had the caption "how to bust a move." I also found this gif of every step of how to do so and what it would look like if you were to follow this obvious expert's moves.

1868 Oberlin College (Simpson Younger)

The 1868 Oberlin team photo, I don't have ID's for every player but #6 was an African-American pitcher named Simpson Younger.

He was a drummer boy with the US 27th Colored Troops for the Union during the war.
